White House slams Dems' 'bad-faith' Epstein doc release as demand for files intensifies

The White House is firing back after House Democrats released a set of documents Wednesday, detailing previously undisclosed communications from Jeffrey Epstein about President Donald Trump.

"The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

In a 2011 email to his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein said Trump had spent a prolonged time at his house with a "victim." 

"I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is Trump. VICTIM spent hours at my house with him, has never once been mentioned," Epstein wrote.

Democrats pointed to the message as evidence that Trump had previously had a more intimate relationship with the disgraced financier than he has been willing to admit.

"The more Donald Trump tries to cover up the Epstein files, the more we uncover. These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what else the White House is hiding and the nature of the relationship between Epstein and the president," Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., said.

"The Department of Justice must fully release the Epstein files to the public immediately. The Oversight Committee will continue pushing for answers and will not stop until we get justice for the victims," he added.

Garcia is the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee.

Leavitt dismissed the document release as a distraction from the government being on the brink of reopening after the lengthiest shutdown in history.

"The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions," she said. "The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre."

"These stories are nothing more than bad-faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees right through this hoax and clear distraction from the government opening back up again," she said.

Republicans reacting to the new communications also called them an incomplete portrayal of Trump’s role in the Epstein investigations.

"Democrats continue to carelessly cherry-pick documents to generate clickbait that is not grounded in the facts," a spokesperson for the committee Republicans said.

"The Epstein Estate has produced over 20,000 pages of documents on Thursday, yet Democrats are once again intentionally withholding records that name Democrat officials. Democrats should stop politicizing this investigation and focus on delivering transparency, accountability and justice for the survivors."

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Trump has repeatedly denied being involved in any of Epstein’s illegal activities or of having known about them.

The revelation of the email comes as Congress looks poised to entertain a vote on the Epstein files. If successful, a discharge petition in the House of Representatives would force the chamber's consideration on whether to instruct the DOJ to release all of its documentation on Epstein.

Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, D-Ariz., will likely provide the last signature needed to force the petition’s success after she is sworn into office on Wednesday, effectively making it impossible for leadership to block its advancement.

Epstein, a former financier with an expansive social circle, died in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of soliciting underage prostitution. He rubbed shoulders with some of the world’s most powerful figures — including Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and the United Kingdom’s Prince Andrew.

His death, which was ruled a suicide by the FBI, happened before prosecutors could bring his case to trial, leaving questions unanswered about his dealings. Among them, the public has demanded further transparency on whether he may have facilitated illicit sexual encounters for some of his contacts.

Trump and Republican leadership in Congress have opposed the discharge petition, citing concerns about the bill’s lack of protections for Epstein’s potential victims. 

The House will resume session on Wednesday. If successful, the discharge petition will likely come before the House sometime in December.

Charlie Kirk's mentor looks forward to Berkeley Turning Point event as free speech battleground

Charlie Kirk's mentor and friend Dr. Frank Turek spoke with Fox News Digital last week ahead of his appearance at the final Turning Point USA (TPUSA) "This Is The Turning Point" tour at University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Turek is an author of several books — including co-author of "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist" — serves as president of CrossExamined.org and travels the country to present evidence for Christianity at churches, high schools, secular college campuses, and online, according to the organization's website.

In early 2020, Kirk reached out to Turek to learn more about engaging with students when it came to Christianity.

"He just wanted to get better at presenting the evidence for Christianity and answering questions… So he reached out to me and said, 'I've seen a lot of your work. It's really helped me do what I do. Can we get together?' And so, from that point on, we became fast friends," Turek told Fox News Digital.

Turek said he was helping Kirk prepare for TPUSA’s "The American Comeback" tour, which has since been rebranded "This Is the Turning Point" following Kirk’s assassination in September.

"The past year or so we spent a lot of time together… so he could get ready for this tour, which began that day, September 10, the day he was murdered," Turek told Fox News Digital.

He told Kirk that the UC Berkeley stop was the one he wanted to attend.

"If I could go to any one event with him, it would be that one. I wanted to go to UC Berkeley because it is so progressive and liberal in their views, and I wanted to provide evidence that Christianity was indeed true," he said. 

Turek claimed Berkeley has gone from supporting free speech to suppressing it. Posters have been put around the school referencing the upcoming event saying, "Fascists, Zionists, Out!"

"Berkeley in 1964 and 1965 was very key in getting rid of the suppression of free speech on college campuses. And now it's come full circle that many people on the Berkeley campus want to suppress free speech," Turek said, before pointing out the irony. 

"I just find that ironic that the people who claim they're all about inclusion, tolerance, and diversity will not include, and will not tolerate, people who hold diverse views. It's totally hypocritical," he added. 

A Berkeley spokesman told Fox News Digital the posters were not connected to the university.

"The posters you mention (which have been removed) are connected to an external group that has no affiliation with the university," Berkeley Asst. Vice Chancellor Dan Mogulof told Fox News Digital. 

"It is not one of our 1000+ Registered Student Organizations. The university has been absolutely clear: Our student organizations have every right to invite whoever they wish to events on campus. Together with our police force, we will, as always, take whatever measures are deemed necessary to have a safe and successful event," he continued. 

Turek said too many people rely on slogans rather than evidence when it comes to discussions and debates.

To TPUSA's critics accusing the group of being fascist, Turek highlighted how Kirk and TPUSA allowed critics to ask questions at their events, while fascists attempt to silence speech they disagree with. 

"That's not fascism to have a conversation with somebody and to tell people who disagree with you to come to the front of the line so you could make your case. No, a fascist is somebody who shoots somebody like that," Turek said.

"It's the conservatives that want to have conversations and want to interact with people and hear them out. It appears to be many people — not all, we can't say all — but many people on the left want to shut down. They want to cancel debate. They want to cancel Q&A. They want to cancel reason rather than have questions answered, asked and answered so we can all learn from one another," he continued.

Turek encouraged Christians to be bold, unafraid to defend their values, and not shy away from getting involved. 

"If you're concerned about expressing your religious viewpoint and living your religious viewpoint, you have to be involved in [politics] because the laws that are made in Washington, your state, and your local governments, can affect whether or not you can speak out and whether or not you could live your faith," he said. 

"We're just supposed to do what's right and leave the results to God," Turek said.

Raptors star slams water bottle onto floor, nails staffer in face

Toronto Raptors star Brandon Ingram inadvertently hit a staffer in the face with his water bottle when he slammed it onto the floor in frustration on Saturday night.

The TSN broadcast caught Ingram come back to the bench. As he sat down, he took his water bottle and spiked it down. The bottle bounced and hit one of the staffers in the face.

The game was paused as a crew came over to wipe the wet spots. Ingram sat on the bench and watched the staffers, including the man he hit in the face, clean up the mess he made.

It was unclear whether Ingram apologized for the outburst.

He had 21 points and eight rebounds in 37 minutes as the 76ers won the game, 130-120.

Toronto got to within three points of the 76ers’ lead with 3:25 left in the game. However, Philadelphia scored the next six points – including a VJ Edgecombe layup, Kelly Oubre Jr.’s dunk and Joel Embiid’s follow up on his own miss.

The 76ers went up nine points with 1:25 to play and didn’t look back from there. Embiid had 29 points in the win. Tyrese Maxey had 31.

Ingram joined the Raptors in the offseason on a three-year deal reportedly worth $120 million. He’s averaging 21 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4 assists in 10 games for Toronto.

The Raptors fell to 5-5 with the loss. Philadelphia improved to 6-3.

Paul Tagliabue, former NFL commissioner, dead at 84 after Parkinson's battle

Paul Tagliabue, who served as NFL commissioner from 1989 to 2006, has died after a battle with Parkinson’s disease, his family said on Sunday. He was 84.

Tagliabue’s cause of death was heart failure complicated by the disease, according to ESPN.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement on Tagliabue’s death.

"All of us in the NFL are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Tagliabue, whose principled leadership and vision put the NFL on the path to unparalleled success," Goodell said, via ESPN. "Throughout his decades-long leadership on behalf of the NFL, first as outside counsel and then during a powerful 17-year tenure as commissioner, Paul served with integrity, passion and an unwavering conviction to do what was best for the league. Paul was the ultimate steward of the game — tall in stature, humble in presence and decisive in his loyalty to the NFL. He viewed every challenge and opportunity through the lens of what was best for the greater good, a principle he inherited from Pete Rozelle and passed on to me.

"During his Hall of Fame NFL career, Paul fostered labor peace with our players, oversaw the expansion of the league to 32 teams, ushered in an era of state-of-the-art stadiums and laid the important groundwork of establishing the league as a global brand. The NFL’s popularity exploded during Tagliabue’s time as commissioner as well. The Buffalo Bills were among seven teams that saw more than 1 million people attend games during the season. By the end of the 2005 season, 30 of the league’s 32 teams had more than 1 million in attendance over the course of the season. Only the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals had less than 1 million.

While the league expanded domestically, he helped turn the NFL into a globally recognized game with the founding of the World League of American Football and NFL Europe. Though the leagues failed, it helped pave the way for regular-season games taking place overseas yearly.

Tagliabue also went head-to-head with the state of Arizona after officials initially refused to recognize Martin Luther King Jr. as a state holiday. He moved Super Bowl XXVII from the state to California. Arizona eventually hosted Super Bowl XXX.

Tagliabue was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
