Country singer Ruston Kelly commits to sobriety after relapsing on drugs following freak golf cart crash

Ruston Kelly surrendered to sobriety after a freak accident nearly derailed his life.

Kelly, 37, admitted he was three days sober after relapsing following a golf cart crash in June.

The country music singer reflected on the last few challenging months in a candid social media post shared Wednesday with followers.

Kelly showed fans a gold Narcotics Anonymous token which read, "My gratitude speaks when I care and when I share with others the NA way." Recovery chips are often shared in meetings to commemorate clean living milestones.

"I told myself back in 2021 that as long as I wasn’t using amphetamines that I would be on the right 'clean' journey for myself," Kelly shared on Instagram. "I had never been addicted to any drug other than those pills. I lumped in alcohol and THC etc initially because I thought that’s what I was supposed to do."

"Somewhere along the way I became obstinate in my journey, that I wasn’t an 'addict' in the traditional sense of the word, that I was only addicted to amphetamines. 'I’ve never had a problem with alcohol, I’ve never had a problem with XYZ.' 'See I can be like everyone else, I can show self control, I am in control.'"

Despite reaching a point of "spiritual surrender," Kelly admitted he was only attempting to "live a lifestyle that was satisfactory to my carnal impulses because I 'never had a problem with them.'"

In June, Kelly broke his arm "in half" following a golf cart accident where he overcorrected the vehicle and flipped the cart.

"After my accident where I broke my arm in half, I was given fentanyl morphine ketamine dilaudid and oxycodone for 3 days leaving with a month long Rx of Percocet," Kelly wrote. "I needed it for the level 15 pain but very quickly they started running out sooner and sooner.

"I was chewing them in the pharmacy before I walked out the door. I was hiding how many at a time I was taking. I was complaining to the dr it wasn’t enough."

His new drug dependency "awakened something I hadn’t felt in a very long time."

"On July 26 I decided to end any chance of ruining anything good," Kelly confessed. "For my soul my wife my family my art and career and my people. I admitted that whether I like it or not I will forever have a substance abuse disease."

He added, "ALL drugs/substances including alcohol and THC are off the table for good (working on nicotine) That if there is something that will scratch an itch I didn’t think I had, I will use it beyond excess and into addiction.

"I am 3 days completely clean and sober again, and intend to remain this way forever, one day at a time."

WATCH: US envoy defends walkout during France's 'condescending' remarks, vows boycott

The United States dramatically walked out as France addressed the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council Monday, escalating an extraordinary clash between the longtime allies after Paris claimed America was no longer a "beacon of human rights."

The U.S. delegation left the chamber as French Ambassador Jérôme Bonnafont delivered remarks during a Security Council meeting on Ukraine, days after France’s U.N. mission in Geneva accused Washington of standing alongside North Korea, Nicaragua, Mali and Russia following a vote on the U.N.’s human rights chief.

Deputy U.S. Ambassador Dan Negrea accused France of "disingenuous grandstanding" and warned that American diplomats would continue walking out during French statements until Paris renounces what he called its "condescending and disrespectful rhetoric."

"Today, I remind them that it is the United States that remains the beacon of liberty for the world," Negrea told the council. "As such, we will not be affording them the benefit of listening to their politicized drivel until they renounce their condescending and disrespectful rhetoric and behave in a manner commensurate with their seat on this council."

The clash matters because the United States and France are among the world’s oldest allies, dating back to French support for the American Revolution, and today remain NATO partners and permanent members of the U.N. Security Council. Their cooperation is central to Western policy on Ukraine, European security and sanctions enforcement.

A French diplomat told Fox News Digital that the dispute should not be interpreted as a broader rupture between the longtime allies. "Differences in how we assess a vote do not call into question the quality of our relations or our ability to work together," the diplomat said.

Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon backed Washington’s response and sharply criticized France.

"I think the behavior of France is shameful," Danon told Fox News Digital Tuesday. "The U.S. is demonstrating moral clarity, standing for the real values of the U.N."

Danon accused France and other European countries of supporting voices within the United Nations that undermine rather than advance human rights. "It’s about time to reform the U.N., and I want to thank the U.S. for showing leadership on that issue," he said.

The confrontation marked a significant escalation from the unusually personal social media exchange that erupted after the General Assembly approved a second four-year term for U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

Türk, an Austrian diplomat who has served as U.N. high commissioner for human rights since 2022, has drawn criticism from the United States and outside watchdogs over what they describe as uneven scrutiny of democracies and authoritarian governments. A 2024 analysis by UN Watch found that, among public country criticisms initiated by Türk or his office, he criticized the United States more often than China, North Korea, Cuba, Saudi Arabia and Qatar combined, while issuing no such criticism of several repressive governments during the period reviewed.

Türk’s supporters, including France and the European Union, argue that his willingness to criticize powerful democracies reflects the independence and universality required of the U.N.’s top human rights official.

France’s Geneva mission had declared that the United States was no longer a human rights leader and claimed "the world no longer listens to it" after Washington joined nine other countries in voting against Türk’s extension.

U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz responded by accusing France of backing an official who lectures democracies while "cozying up to the world’s worst oppressors."

Negrea went further Monday, invoking the history of the U.S.-French alliance and saying Washington had stood beside France whenever its freedom was threatened.

The United States had tolerated France’s "grandstanding" out of "a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect," he said, but would no longer remain silent in the face of what he described as feigned French "moral outrage."

Bonnafont did not directly address the walkout when he spoke again at the end of the meeting. Instead, he invoked the countries’ historic ties, noting that France helped the United States secure its independence and participated in celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary. "This is the spirit of the relationship between France and the United States," he said, before reaffirming France’s commitment to the U.N.’s work on peace, development and human rights.

"The United Nations was created with the goal of working towards international peace and security, human rights and development," Bonnafont said, adding that France would continue working to protect the institution’s independence and its ability to serve human rights and peace.

The dispute began after the General Assembly voted 144-10, with 13 abstentions, to extend Türk’s tenure through October 2030.

The United States had unsuccessfully sought an additional week for consultations, arguing that the vote was being rushed even though Türk’s current term does not expire until Oct. 11.

Washington also objected to Türk’s record. U.S. officials have accused him of disproportionately criticizing democracies, including the United States and Israel, while failing to confront authoritarian governments with the same urgency.

Former college soccer player found dead off San Diego beach in one of nation's wealthiest beach communities

A former college soccer player has been identified as the 26-year-old woman found dead in the waters off San Diego's La Jolla Shores Beach as investigators work to determine what happened.

Emergency personnel responded around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday after reports of an unresponsive person floating in shallow water, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said. Bryn Waite was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was found near the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier, FOX 5 San Diego reported.

Officers and lifeguards with San Diego Fire-Rescue responded after a bystander spotted the woman in the water, the station added. Fire officials said the San Diego Police Department would lead the investigation.

The Medical Examiner identified the woman as Waite and said her cause and manner of death remain pending investigation by the San Diego Police Department. The office listed her place of injury as "Ocean – Undetermined" and said the date and time of injury are unknown.

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Waite played defender at Central Washington University during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. She appeared in 15 games, making eight starts, and tallied two assists over 723 career minutes. Waite earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors in 2019.

Friends told The California Post that Waite had been living in San Diego and had recently gotten engaged.

"She had a warmth about her that made people feel comfortable and cared for," the friend said. "It's clear that the light she carried touched so many lives. She will be deeply missed."

Everyday Revolutionary War heroes take center stage in Trump's 'Spirit of '76' exhibit

EXCLUSIVE: Beneath a towering 23-foot bronze figure holding the Declaration of Independence aloft, designer Matthew Taylor stopped beside an equestrian statue that many Americans have likely never seen, or even heard of.

"Most Americans have never heard of Caesar Rodney," Taylor told Fox News Digital during an exclusive tour of the new Spirit of '76 exhibition at Freedom Plaza. "But we owe this man an enormous debt of gratitude."

The temporary installation, unveiled as part of America's 250th anniversary celebration, transforms Freedom Plaza into an open-air gallery honoring Revolutionary War figures whose names rarely appear in history textbooks.

Commissioned by President Donald Trump, the exhibition features 22 statues and sculptural installations, including a restored equestrian monument of Rodney, a towering "Spirit of Liberty" centerpiece, bronze figures representing Revolutionary soldiers, and an immersive memorial honoring Americans who died aboard British prison ships during the Revolution.

According to the National Park Service, the exhibit was created to honor the "heroes and martyrs of the Revolution" during America's semiquincentennial and is intended to celebrate the enduring "Spirit of '76' that continues to live on in every American heart." 

The centerpiece installations include the Caesar Rodney equestrian statue, the "12 Soldiers of the Revolution," the Prison Ship Martyrs memorial and the 23-foot Spirit of Liberty statue.

Rather than beginning with George Washington or Thomas Jefferson, however, Taylor chose to introduce visitors to Rodney.

The Delaware statesman, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, is remembered for his legendary overnight ride from Dover to Philadelphia in July 1776. Suffering from severe illness, Rodney rode roughly 80 miles through a storm to cast the vote that broke Delaware's deadlock in favor of independence.

"Of all the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Caesar Rodney is one of the most exciting," Taylor said. "When Delaware's delegation was deadlocked, he rode through the night to cast the vote that helped secure American independence."

THE REVOLUTIONARY LANDMARKS WHERE WASHINGTON, ADAMS AND JEFFERSON CHANGED AMERICA

For decades, the bronze statue stood in Wilmington's Rodney Square before being removed in 2020. It now occupies one of the most prominent locations in the nation's capital, just blocks from both the White House and the Capitol.

From Rodney's ride, Taylor naturally guides visitors into the next chapter of the American story.

Arranged around the plaza are bronze sculptures representing 12 Revolutionary War soldiers. Rather than depicting famous generals, the statues celebrate ordinary Americans whose individual stories reflect the sacrifices of the Revolutionary generation.

"These are ordinary citizens who did extraordinary things," Taylor said. "Every one of these statues tells the story of someone who answered the call during the Revolution."

Among them is Samuel Whittemore, who fought British troops at age 78. According to Taylor, Whittemore was bayoneted multiple times, shot in the head and left for dead before surviving and living into his 90s.

Another figure, Simon Knowles, enlisted at just 15 years old and served alongside George Washington throughout much of the Revolutionary War before returning home to live as a farmer.

Taylor said those stories represent the exhibition's central message.

"Unlike monuments to George Washington or Thomas Jefferson, these statues honor ordinary Americans who did extraordinary things," he said.

Nearby, another installation tells one of the Revolution's lesser-known tragedies.

Designed as visitors physically walk through its narrow bronze panels, the Prison Ship Martyrs memorial recreates the outline of a British prison ship. According to the National Park Service, nearly 12,000 Americans died aboard prison ships during the Revolutionary War; even more than were killed in combat during the conflict.

Taylor said the memorial is meant to immerse visitors in that experience.

"As you walk inside, you hear the water from the fountain," he explained during the tour. "It helps place you inside the story."

The fountain itself has also become part of the experience. Taylor noted it was recently restored to operation after years of sitting idle, providing the soundscape surrounding the memorial while complementing the plaza's redesign.

Towering above the entire exhibition stands the Spirit of Liberty, a new bronze figure inspired by iconic American monuments while looking toward the country's next 250 years.

Standing 23 feet tall, the statue holds an exact bronze replica of the Declaration of Independence in one hand while raising a sword skyward with the other. Around its base are reliefs depicting three defining moments of the Revolution: the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George Washington crossing the Delaware River and the British surrender at Yorktown.

"The Spirit of Liberty represents the sacrifices that gave birth to this nation," Taylor said.

During Fox News Digital's visit, visitors gathered around the plaza to photograph the statues against the Washington skyline. Low-angle views of the bronze figures framed them against bright summer skies, while Rodney's horse appeared frozen mid-stride as though continuing the historic ride that helped shape the nation's founding.

For Taylor, whose career has largely been spent both behind the camera and behind the scenes designing historical works, the exhibition is about more than commemorating famous names.

Instead, he hopes visitors leave thinking about people they had never encountered before arriving at Freedom Plaza.

"When visitors leave here," Taylor said, "I hope they realize they can do extraordinary things themselves. America was built by ordinary citizens who answered extraordinary moments."

The Spirit of '76 exhibition is free to the public and is scheduled to remain on display throughout the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.

WNBA All-Star Game betting preview: Team Coop's guards could give them the edge over Team Spoon

You probably didn't know it, but the WNBA has been off for a few days now because of the All-Star Game that takes place tonight. I know that you missed it, but now we have some women's basketball back, so don't be too upset! Jokes aside, I've enjoyed this season despite the same narratives being pushed.

Betting on the sport has proved very profitable and rewarding to this point as well. This is an exhibition, but I do think we have an edge here.

MARINA MABREY TIES WNBA SINGLE-GAME SCORING RECORD WITH 53 POINTS IN TEMPO'S HISTORIC WIN

The teams are basically divided by fan voting, player, and coaches. I don't think it is really important to get into how the players got here, but you should know who is on what team. For Team Coop, they have Paige Bueckers as their main attraction. If you're not familiar with Bueckers' game, you should be. She is elite in many ways. A great scorer, a solid playmaker, and even good on defense.

What I like most about this team is that they have a lot of talented guards. If they want to get out and run, they shouldn't have any trouble.

Kahleah Copper is one of the most elite finishers in the game. Marina Mabrey is a lethal outside shooter. Sonia Citron is one of the better young players and a talented scorer. Kelsey Mitchell is one of my favorite players in the league and a versatile scorer. That doesn't mention Breanna Stewart, who is still one of the best players in the league, and Angel Reese, who will play with energy and effort no matter if this is an exhibition or if it actually meant something. Their team is very good.

You're certainly familiar with their Captain, Caitlin Clark. Clark was going to be an All-Star based on popularity, but her performance on the court shows she deserves to be here. Expect that she doesn't do quite a bit in this game, though. She is likely going to pass and facilitate much more than look to score.

I could see her shooting from deep, but I don't think that she is going to just jack up shots like they do in the men's version of this game.

CAITLIN CLARK MAKES WNBA HISTORY WITH RECORD-BREAKING GAME AFTER WEEKS OF CONTROVERSY

The rest of the team is rounded out mostly by forwards/centers — Aliyah Boston is really good and familiar with Clark, being that they are on the same team. A'ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA, but I don't think she is going to try all that hard in this game.

Jonquel Jones, Nneka Ogwumike, and Kiki Iriafen will round out that group. They should be able to get a bucket just about whenever they want, but they are better closer to the basket than farther away. Oliva Miles is one person who stands out to me as someone who might pour in buckets for Team Spoon.

The scores from the past few years are interesting. Last year, the total went to 282. The year prior, it was just 226. In 2023, they were at 270, and in 2022 they scored just 246. Tonight's total is 277.5. I think that is too high. The women can score, don't get me wrong, but I think the chances of them just pouring in points is more likely for Team Coop than for Team Spoon. The game is also in the United Center, which is notorious for being tougher to shoot in for many players.

Not only will I back the under, but I'll also take Team Cooper. If either team is likely to run the floor and play in a game with little defense, I think the guards will be more energetic and ready to go. They are getting +3.5 points, and I think some of that is because Clark is on the team, and some maybe because of Wilson. I'll still take the points with Cooper.

Charlie Woods, the son of Tiger Woods, attempted to win the 2026 U.S. Junior Amateur ended on Wednesday during a 14-for-2 playoff at Saucon Valley Country Club. But a camera click on a fan's phone threw off Woods' concentration, causing him to chunk a shot out of the thick rough.

According to Golf Channel, the incident took place on the first hole of the playoff which was to determine the final two match-play participants. "Really, dude?" Charlie, 17, responded after hitting his third shot on the Par 5 from the deep stuff.

NYC Legionnaires' disease outbreak kills fourth victim, 76 cases reported

An outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in New York City killed a fourth person as 76 cases have now been reported in the city, city health authorities announced Monday.

The outbreak, which city authorities have linked to a series of cooling towers in Upper East Side buildings, has hospitalized 60 people, 53 of whom were discharged while seven remained in the hospital, according to authorities.

The fourth death announced Monday follows a first death from the disease on Friday. City officials announced two additional deaths over the weekend.

Legionnaires disease comes from live Legionella bacteria infecting a person's lungs. While, according to New York City health authorities, most people exposed to the bacteria don't get sick, infection can cause a severe form of pneumonia that can be fatal.

"Symptoms typically develop two to fourteen days after exposure and include fever, chills, muscle aches, shortness of breath, and cough. Legionnaires’ disease can be effectively treated with antibiotics when diagnosed early," New York City's Health Department wrote in a statement.

City officials discovered the recent outbreak on July 2, and quickly tied it to a series of cooling towers in 31 different buildings in the city.

After testing 180 different cooling towers, the city found live or dead Legionella bacteria in 31 buildings. The city, in a statement, stressed that the discovery of dead bacteria in some buildings did not necessarily mean people in that building were ever exposed to the disease. 

The city ordered the following buildings, which includes the building that houses the vaunted Guggenheim Museum at 1071 Fifth Ave., to initiate a deep clean and disinfectant of their cooling towers "out of an abundance of caution.

City officials cautioned residents that mask wearing will likely not help stave off infection as Legionella bacteria is not transmissible person-to-person. Community cluster outbreaks like the Upper East Side one usually stem from common sources of exposure, such as "cooling towers, hot tubs, and spray fountains," the city said.

Public testing of the bacterium are ongoing, the city also announced. 

The city last experienced a major Legionnaires' outbreak in August 2025, when over 100 people in Harlem got sick and seven died.

'World's Oldest Pole Dancer' is an 82-year-old who turned a fitness challenge into a passion to work the pole

I'm not sure how I got on the old lady pole dancing beat, but I'm here. Is it a fascination with the crazy in the world? Is it for the love of the game? The answer is anyone's guess.

Enough about me. Let's focus on why we're all here. An 82-year-old Italian woman who isn't plopping herself in a chair and knitting sweaters all day long. She's too busy for that.

Idanna Abignente is out climbing on poles performing moves designed for much younger women and earning herself the title of "World's Oldest Pole Dancer," which is in the bio of her Instagram account.

Why wouldn’t she have an Instagram account? And why wouldn't she have tens of thousands of followers? She's an 82-year-old who still rocks a two piece and hangs upside down on a pole.

The soon-to-be 83-year-old got her start about 12 years ago when a friend of her son's opened a studio in Turin, reports the NY Post. A fitness challenge followed and turned into a passion.

Abignente has been on a pole ever since. She competes and trains at least two or three times a week when she's not preparing for competitions, although she doesn't have much competition in her age group.

"I always win because there aren’t any other competitors over 80," she said. "I still haven’t met anyone over 80. I’d really like to."

The oldest competitor she's faced was a 74-year-old American and that took place last year. This is more than an activity for strippers. It's a sport, according to Abignente, and not one for the weak.

"It's a complete sport, but also a very demanding one. You have to learn to trust your body and endure physical exertion. Like many sports, it leaves its marks," she explained.

While anyone can do it, you need "tenacity, determination, consistency and a high tolerance for pain" to reach her level.

As if you haven't already been inspired enough by an 82-year-old pole dancer, she's not planning to quit doing what she loves. She's going to keep going.

"I’ll be 83 in September, I’m not pretending to be 40. But I don’t want the number to decide for me."

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Angels betting pick favors the home team through five innings

I had another rough outing the other day with a loss on the Rays. It wasn't quite as heartbreaking or frustrating as the Royals game on Friday night, but it was still a tough loss. The Rays were up big, and then in the seventh inning, they allowed four runs to the Red Sox. Boston won again and moved on to their 12th straight win (they got No. 13 yesterday). After taking the day off yesterday, I'm back on the diamond today and have a play on this one between the Cardinals and Angels.

The St. Louis Cardinals are having a solid season, despite them supposedly looking to quasi-tank this season. For the year, they are 51-47, which puts them in the Wild Card hunt. They just had their breakout star, Jordan Walker, win the Home Run Derby, and their team could find a way to the postseason if they can keep up their winning ways in the second half. I am a little intrigued to see what they do around the deadline. They could add pitching, or they could ignore any trades and roll the dice on how the rest goes.

If they are looking for some sort of addition, the starting rotation is probably where they need to upgrade. They have some decent arms, but I'm not sure they are ones you want to go into a playoff series or even a playoff chase with. Kyle Leahy is a solid arm for them, for example, but this is his first full year as a starter; will he last? He has been great with a 7-4 record, a 3.73 ERA, and a 1.41 WHIP. He has been substantially worse on the road, with a 4.69 road ERA compared to 2.94 in St. Louis. The good news for Cardinals fans is that the team is 0-for-9 against him.

The Los Angeles Angels are likely going to be the worst team in all of baseball when the season is over. There will be talk about trading some players, including their superstar Mike Trout, but I'm guessing very little will happen. They are in one of the worst positions as most analysts will tell you this team needs a complete rebuild and their farm system is empty. Although they hung in there for a few months, they've dropped down to 22 games under .500 and are no longer even sniffing contention. At just 11.5 games back, crazier things have happened, but the team just doesn't seem to have the ability to get where they need to go.

One of the arms that might bring them back a bit of a return - and they should be looking at prospects more than anything - is today's starter, Jose Soriano. He has been surprisingly reliable for the Angels with an 8-6 record and a 3.49 ERA for the year. In addition, he has a 1.29 WHIP. While these numbers won't blow anyone away, he seems like an arm you'd at least be tolerant of in the middle of your rotation if you're chasing a playoff spot. A typical Soriano start will be two or three runs allowed in five or six innings of work. He hasn't faced the Cardinals often, and they are just 1-for-5 against him.

I am not a guy who likes to back bad teams, and the Angels are a bad team. However, there is often value in taking these teams that are often overlooked. They are still winning about 40% of their games. If you pick the right spot to back them, that can be a profitable endeavor. I think in this situation it does make sense to back the Angels. They are playing at home after the Cardinals have to travel. Leahy is bad on the road, and Soriano has been reliable. Give me the Angels through five innings.

Stomach bugs can quickly turn a dream vacation into days spent in a hotel room, but doctors say packing a few key essentials can help keep your summer or fall trip on track.

Gastrointestinal illnesses caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites commonly trigger nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The agency says travelers' diarrhea, usually caused by bacteria, is the most common travel-related illness.

It affects an estimated 30% to 70% of travelers during a two-week trip, depending on the destination and season.

While not every stomach bug can be prevented, doctors say packing a few essentials before you leave can help manage symptoms, prevent dehydration and make it easier to know when it's time to seek medical care.

Most people recover from common stomach bugs within one to three days without treatment, though dehydration can become serious enough to require medical attention, Chad D. Neilsen, director of Infection Prevention and Control at Nemours Children's Health in Florida, previously told Fox News Digital.

Doctors say smart food choices can also help reduce the risk of gastrointestinal illness while traveling.

Bethany Doerfler, a senior clinical research dietitian at the Digestive Health Institute of Northwestern Medicine, recommends thoroughly cooking higher-risk vegetables, such as leafy greens and fresh herbs, to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal illness, including parasitic infections such as Cyclospora.

"Heating to temperatures over 160 degrees [Fahrenheit] will kill the parasite," Doerfler told Fox News Digital.

She also recommends choosing fruits and vegetables with thick skins that can be washed and peeled, such as bananas, avocados and melons, instead of avoiding fresh produce altogether.

Careful food and beverage choices can help lower the risk of gastrointestinal illness, the CDC says, although the choices cannot eliminate it completely because restaurant hygiene and local sanitation are often beyond a traveler's control.

Travelers should seek medical care if diarrhea persists or worsens, particularly if it is accompanied by a fever, bloody stools or signs of dehydration.

Bill Maher admits he could vote for JD Vance, warns 'cowardly' Democrats face socialist takeover

Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher said Sunday that he could vote for Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 presidential election if Democrats nominate a candidate aligned with the party's socialist wing, calling Democrats "cowardly" and warning that radicals are taking over the party.

"Yes," Maher said when asked by ABC News "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl if Maher could see himself voting for Vance. "If this is the Democratic side, yes."

Maher said his vote remained open because President Donald Trump cannot run again and rejected efforts to distinguish socialism from communism while discussing the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

"I mean, I know the talking point is that it’s not communism, it’s socialism. OK, I’ve read the quotes from the DSA platform from their own mouths. Don’t tell me I’m not seeing what I am seeing," Maher said.

Maher also contrasted Republicans' willingness to appear on his HBO program, "Real Time with Bill Maher," with Democrats who declined invitations despite receiving his vote.

"Their party is being taken over now by, you know, every day I hear about a new very radical," Maher said.

"I feel very good about [it]. Like 10 years ago, like I did lose fans because, you know, I wasn’t going to go along with some of this crazy stuff on the left too," he said.

Maher said he had not changed his views about Republicans but refused to overlook positions promoted by members of his own political camp.

"But you know there’s some crazy stuff. You know, when we’re cheering for the Intifada, I cut, I’m out," he said.

He also predicted Democrats would perform well in the 2026 midterms because the races would remain a referendum on Trump. He distinguished those contests from the next presidential election.

"2028 is a different story because by then this wing of the party, this new wing with all the energy, and it’s not just a few people anymore," Maher said.

Maher cited candidates in Colorado and Wisconsin advocating the abolition of police and prisons as examples of the party's leftward movement.

"I read every day I read about a new person in some Colorado and Wisconsin, somebody who is saying some variation of not defund the police," Maher said. "Abolish the police. No prisons, no police. Like, what world do they think we could possibly live in under these conditions?"

The DSA’s 2026 program calls for public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries, fully abolishing police and prisons and abolishing the Senate.

'Let's brew it in the United States': Teamsters target Modelo and Corona in push for Mexican beer tariffs

One of the nation's largest labor unions wants President Donald Trump to make one of America's favorite imports a lot more American.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters are urging the administration to impose significant tariffs on Mexican beer, arguing more of it should be brewed by U.S. workers instead of across the border.

The request comes as the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative continues to assess whether certain countries’ policies have fueled unfair manufacturing advantages. 

The Teamsters argue Mexico has fueled its brewing industry through government-backed investment incentives, lower labor costs and export-focused policies that have expanded production and exports, helping imported beer capture a growing share of the U.S. market.

The tariff push could have implications for some of America's best-known imported beer brands, including Modelo, Corona, Pacifico and Tecate, much of which is brewed in Mexico before being shipped to retailers across the U.S.

"We can brew Modelo beer. It's the same recipe. Let's brew it in the United States," Sean O'Brien, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, told Fox News Digital. "We are very good at producing goods and services in this country," he added.

In its filing, the union said Mexican beer production has increased 85% since 2014, with about 80% of the country's beer exports shipped to the United States. Meanwhile, capacity utilization at major U.S. breweries fell from 82% in 2013 to 65% in 2023, a trend the Teamsters say threatens thousands of well-paying union jobs.

The union argues tariffs would help shift more beer production back to the U.S., supporting American breweries along with the farmers who grow barley and hops, aluminum manufacturers that produce cans and the truckers who move beer across the country.

So if there's an opportunity to tariff Mexican beer in this situation, which is gonna provide opportunity for our current members, which we have tens of thousands in the brewery and distribution industry, then I'm all for tariffs and all for keeping American jobs in America," O'Brien added.

The Teamsters say the threat to U.S. brewery jobs is growing as major brewers continue investing billions of dollars in Mexico.

According to the filing, breweries have announced plans to add another 19 million to 23 million hectoliters of production capacity over the next five years, an expansion the union attributes to export-focused tax incentives, lower labor costs and industrial policies aimed at boosting manufacturing for foreign markets.

The filing also cites Mexico's 2023 tax incentives for export-oriented manufacturers and its broader "Plan México" industrial strategy, arguing those policies have encouraged additional investment while suppressing wages and making it more difficult for U.S. producers to compete.

The Teamsters have publicly backed tariffs as high as 75% on Mexican beer imports, calling them one potential remedy to what they describe as an uneven playing field. In a separate submission to USTR, the union said continued pressure from imported beer could force more U.S. brewery slowdowns or closures, jeopardizing good-paying brewery jobs that have supported American families for generations.

The Teamsters' filing is one of several submitted as USTR weighs potential trade actions under its ongoing Section 301 investigation.

USTR did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Historic nude beach in California is putting its clothes on when it opens later this month

Another historical clothing optional location in California is putting its clothes on. The San Gregorio Ranch State Beach, considered one of the first nude beaches in the state, is being added to the California State Parks.

The nonprofit land trust Peninsula Open Space Trust purchased the land last spring and has plans to donate it to the state park system later this year. The beach will open on July 29 and clothing will be required.

The day-to-day operations will be managed by Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, KQED reported. Bonny Hawley, the Executive Director of the organization, said nudity isn't allowed at state parks.

She added that the parks system will be educating the public about the beach no longer being a nude one. A sad day, I'm sure, for those who enjoy letting it all hangout while allowing sand easier access to their bodies.

"I’m not happy about it," Bob Morton told the Los Angeles Times. He's been to the beach and is confused by the state parks not allowing the swinging to and fro of body parts normally covered up in public.

"It seems counterintuitive," he added. "You go there to be one with nature."

Jim Acosta urges TV networks to stop airing some Trump speeches live, calls them 'totally nuts'

Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta urged television networks to forgo live coverage of President Donald Trump's primetime address last Thursday, warning they would be "totally nuts" to air what he described as the president's "conspiracy theories" without immediately fact-checking them.

"I think the networks are totally nuts if they take this speech live," Acosta said on "The Joy Reid Show."

"It is totally crazy to put his bats--- ‘Looney Tunes’ conspiracy theories on live national television without fact-checkers in real time, and some of the networks will say, 'Well, we'll have some fact-checkers on afterwards,' and the fact-checkers will come on and say, 'Well, there isn't any evidence to support his claims.' It's all boloney kabuki Washington DC theater."

Acosta relayed his worries to Reid that Trump would further spread alleged conspiracies surrounding the integrity of U.S. elections, thereby casting preliminary doubt on the integrity of this year's midterms.

"He has never ever proven any of these things. He has lost the benefit of the doubt," he said.

"We should not be erring on the side of putting these things out there, and I totally agree with you that he's chumming the waters for not trusting the midterms."

Adding to his critique, Acosta suggested the president could be forging a broader plot to create what he coined as a "52-car pileup" around the midterm elections.

"[He could] say, "See, I can't trust these results over here in this state or these results over here in that key district that may determine the control of the House. And Mike Johnson, maybe we just shouldn't seat a new Congress right away, and maybe we should just all go to court and have the courts untangle... [and] that's going to take until May or June of next year," he warned.

"That, to me, is a terrifying thought."

Acosta's warning came ahead of Trump's primetime address Thursday, where, speaking to the nation, the president renewed his focus on election integrity and alleged that China "worked to influence the results" of the 2020 presidential election, an accusation Beijing has denied.

Trump did not claim China changed votes or altered election results. Instead, he said Beijing engaged in an influence campaign aimed at shaping U.S. public perceptions.

Trump used the disclosures during Thursday's address to press Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, casting the newly released intelligence as evidence that lawmakers must tighten federal election rules before the midterms.

The act passed the House in February but stalled in the Senate in March, when a 53–47 vote fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance it.

Ultimately, CBS News aired a special report that initially provided analysis before dipping into the speech minutes after Trump began speaking and cut away moments after Trump's attacks towards ABC and NBC. MS NOW carried the first 15 minutes of his speech live before dipping out to provide commentary. Fox News carried the speech in its entirety.

"The least that the networks can do at this point is not platform these lies, to not allow him to chum the waters with this nonsense," Acosta warned ahead of the address.

"And I think that it's a very serious moment for the television networks in this country."

Kentucky governor says he received 2 calls from agencies indicating McConnell had 'passed'

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said this week that he received two calls from agencies suggesting Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., died while he was in the hospital.

In an interview with Katie Couric uploaded to YouTube on Thursday, Beshear, a Democrat, did not specify which agencies allegedly called him with the news or when the calls were made.

"In fact, I'd gotten two calls from different agencies, not state agencies, suggesting he'd passed," said Beshear, who has served as governor since December 2019.

Fox News Digital reached out to Beshear and McConnell's offices for comment.

GOP SENATORS SPLIT AS TUBERVILLE DEMANDS MCCONNELL ANSWERS

After nearly a month of being hospitalized, McConnell's office released a lengthy statement on July 12 saying he was being treated for a fall he suffered in June. A picture of him in a hospital bed alongside his wife was also released.

Prior to the announcement, there was speculation about what had happened to McConnell, given that his office did not reveal why he was in the hospital for weeks.

Emergency dispatch audio from June 14, the day McConnell was hospitalized, revealed he was "unconscious" and may have suffered a heart attack.

'THIS IS NOT NORMAL': AOC UNLOADS ON MCCONNELL'S PROLONGED ABSENCE

"My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion," McConnell said in the statement last weekend. "I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages."

Two days before the longtime GOP leader shared more about his condition, Beshear posted on social media demanding that McConnell be more transparent.

"I publicly and privately urged the last administration to address the public’s concerns with the former president’s health," Beshear wrote, seemingly a reference to former President Joe Biden. "I’m calling on Sen. McConnell to do the same and provide voters an update on his own health."

Beshear ended the post by urging McConnell to "end the crazy speculation" and "just tell us what's going on."

On July 8, Beshear also wrote a letter to the 84-year-old lawmaker requesting that he "fully update Kentuckians regarding the current status of your health."

McConnell's doctor said he "developed pneumonia" early in his hospitalization but "responded rapidly to antibiotic treatment."

McConnell said he intends to return to the Senate, but his office has given no timeline on when he'll be able to do so.

Max Verstappen keeps it blunt, yet cryptic when asked about future with Red Bull

Formula 1 is at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, a fan and driver favorite, for the Belgian Grand Prix. We’re in the midst of a great title battle between Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton.

However, much of the focus this weekend is on Red Bull's Max Verstappen. It's been a tough season for the four-time champ, who currently sits down in P7 in the standings, and that's because the rumor mill has been churning about his future with the team.

Verstappen has not committed to Red Bull for next season and was recently linked with a potential move to McLaren. On top of that, he himself has even floated the idea of stepping away from F1. He hasn't been a fan of the direction the series has taken with its current cars, and has recently done more sports car racing.

So, he was asked about all of this on Thursday during his driver press conference, and the Dutchman gave some answers that were both blunt and cryptic.

"Is there any update you can give us?" a reporter asked.

"No," Verstappen said.

Verstappen was then asked about what he makes of all of the speculation about his future, to which he replied, "Nothing."

He was then asked whether he had a date in mind for providing an update on his plans.

"No, there's nothing to say from my side," he said.

"So, full commitment to Red Bull in 2027?" the reporter asked.

"I said there's nothing to say," Verstappen reiterated.

Now, Verstappen is known for handling press conferences like this, but, man, is that not going to keep the rumor mill from churning?

It is worth noting that while Red Bull's struggles have been well documented this season, Verstappen has said he has a good relationship with team boss Laurent Mekies, who took over partway through last season.

There has been some significant hype for "The Dog Stars" ever since the first preview was released. I've never read the book, and likely won't before the movie comes out.

However, I know a fire trailer when I see one, and the new one for the post-apocalyptic thriller is absolutely outstanding.

It's a shot of adrenaline to the soul, and it looks like the exact kind of movie made for guys who love action, suspense and high stakes in a world where civilization has collapsed.

Powerful LGBTQ+ group's endorsements could tank vulnerable Dems over radical youth trans agenda

Endorsements from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a pro-LGBTQ+ advocacy group, are raising questions about whether the candidates they’ve endorsed hold the same beliefs as the organization — stances that could fly in the face of attempts to paint a moderate image.

The endorsements highlight the struggle candidates face to manage their associations — especially on topics and in areas that may draw controversy.

Among their stances, HRC has a few that put it solidly in the progressive camp.

TALARICO CAMPAIGNS WITH SURGEON WHO OPERATED ON TRANSGENDER MINORS: ‘WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING’

The organization has supported gender-affirming care for minors in the form of puberty blockers and hormone therapy. It has also opposed state restrictions on their implementation and has promoted elementary school lessons on gender identity, resisted efforts to restrict Critical Race Theory and promoted removing police from schools.

"Our goal is to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people, and particularly those of us who are trans, people of color and HIV+, are treated as full and equal citizens within our movement, across our country and around the world," the organization states on its website.

The organization has advocated fiercely against virtually all LGBTQ+ restrictions.

In one such case, after the Supreme Court ruled that parents had a right to pull their children out of LGBTQ+ classes and lessons, HRC blasted the decision.

"This decision elevates the religious beliefs of some parents, who believe that being LGBTQ+ is wrong, over any acknowledgement in the classroom that LGBTQ+ young people and their families exist," the organization said in a statement.

In 2026, the organization endorsed 11 Democratic newcomers and 18 incumbents in battleground districts.

Among them, HRC has endorsed members like Rep. Josh Riley, D-N.Y., Derek Tran, D-Calif., and Greg Landsman, D-Ohio, — all of whom won their races by less than five points.

Those members did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital on whether they stood by HRC’s positions.

Headed into the midterms, HRC framed their success as key to taking pressure off of the LGBTQ+ community from the Trump administration.

"Our community is facing an all-out assault on our rights and its coming from a congressional majority bowing to Trump and his MAGA followers. They’re trying to strip away our freedoms and push us back into the closet while doing nothing to meet the urgent needs of the American people," the group’s president, Kelley Robinson, said in a statement.

In the past, some of the candidates HRC has endorsed have framed their appreciation as a matter of shared interest in anti-discrimination.

That was the way Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y., acknowledged their endorsement of him in a 2023 special election.

"I am grateful for the support and endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign. This will be a tough race, and the support of HRC, which has been dedicated to anti-discrimination research, advocacy and education for more than 40 years, means a great deal to me," Suozzi said.

HRC has renewed its endorsement of Suozzi in the 2026 midterms.

The organization did not immediately respond to questions about what factors go into their endorsement process or whether they ask candidates for permission before publicly endorsing them.

Missouri nurse found dead months after anesthesiologist husband admitted to assaulting woman

Mystery deepens surrounding the death of a Missouri nurse and wife to a prominent anesthesiologist.

Alexandra "Allie" Hummel, 36, was found unresponsive in her home on June 23, on Lone Cedar Trail in New London after investigators responded to a 911 call.

The Ralls County Sheriff's Office said the coroner called for an autopsy.

Records indicate Hummel was a licensed nurse in Missouri; her husband, Dr. Andrew Hummel is a licensed anesthesiologist.

Fox News Digital made contact with Hummel's husband who declined to comment on the investigation.

Court records reveal in March 2026 he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman. He was first arrested in July 2025 on charges of strangling and striking a woman of whom he was "in a continuing relationship of romantic nature" in the face.

Dr. Hummel is currently self-employed at Northern Ozark Anesthesia Solutions, his own LLC, according to LinkedIn.

MLB commissioner says Trump 'interested' in MLB CBA negotiations but 'will pass' on potential help

President Donald Trump has tried his hand at helping college sports, and if it were up to him, he'd probably do the same for Major League Baseball.

The league's current collective bargaining agreement expires in December, and with the sides perhaps as far apart as they've been since 1994, the 2027 season is in limbo.

Many may remember the 2022 season was delayed because of an owners' lockout after the expiration of the previous CBA that December. However, the sentiment at the time among baseball experts was, if you thought that was bad, wait until 2026.

Well, 2026 is here, and they weren't kidding. The owners, for the first time since 1994, have formally proposed a salary cap, which players have said is nonnegotiable.

Ahead of Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred spoke to reporters, and one asked whether he thought Trump would intervene in the negotiations.

Manfred did not want to "speculate" about Trump's potential involvement.

"Look, I think it would be wildly, wildly inappropriate for me to speculate what the president of the United States might do or not do in a hypothetical situation," Manfred said. "We know this. He's a great sports fan, and he is really knowledgeable about the business of sports, so it doesn't surprise me."

Manfred did say, however, that Trump is "interested," but it doesn't yet seem he wants his help.

"Behind that, I'm going to pass," he said.

Last month, Trump said it is "shocking" the league does not yet have a salary cap.

"If you don't have a salary cap, you don't have a sport. They can't help themselves. In sports, they can't help themselves. Football has a salary cap. They should have done it a long time ago. I know so much about sports, they should have done it a long time ago...

"Major League Baseball — it's shocking, frankly, that they didn't put a cap on many years ago. They had a chance to do a cap, and they blew it."

The White House did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.

Major League Baseball is in serious danger of losing games, excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season, for the first time since the 1995 season was reduced to 144 games as the players' strike stretched into the following year. The 1994 postseason was even canceled, and the sport was hanging by a thread.

Now, baseball is seeing another boom, as rule changes implemented by Manfred have helped games move more quickly, bringing more fans into ballparks. Attendance could increase for a fourth consecutive year for the first time since 2004-07. It is not currently on pace to do so, but the summer is still young.

"The best way to lose momentum is to stand still," Manfred said.

Earlier this year, Trump held a college sports roundtable and signed an executive order focused on "saving college sports." Unlike the NHL, NBA and NFL, MLB has never had a salary cap.

Microwaved squishy toy explodes onto boy's face and chest amid viral trend, causing horrific burns

An Alabama teenager and his family are warning about the dangers of a viral social media trend after he suffered third-degree burns when a microwaved sensory toy exploded.

Eli Blackmon, now 13, was 11 when he saw videos on TikTok showing people putting NeeDoh squishy toys in the microwave in order to soften them.

The NeeDoh, a sensory toy similar to a stress ball, is described on the company’s website as a "gratifying super soft, super stretchy dough filled groovy glob."

"I thought it was harmless because an adult tried it and nothing happened," he told Fox News Digital this week.

"When I took it out, my older sister held it for a few minutes, then I was playing with it. As soon as I squeezed it, it burst and the hot gel exploded onto my neck, chest and hands."

The hot gel caused third-degree burns on the boy’s neck and chest.

"At first I was just feeling frantic because I wasn’t sure what was going on because he was just screaming and not communicating," the teen’s mother, Fallon Blackmon, told Fox News Digital.

"My husband is a fire medic and I work in emergency call taking, so I had a little knowledge of how serious it was. That obviously didn’t keep me from panicking on the inside."

She was not aware of this trend before her child's injury, she said.

"If I was aware, we would have had a conversation about not doing it."

Eli Blackmon recalled feeling extreme pain after the injury.

"I thought I was going to die. I kept telling my parents, ‘I don’t want to die, I’m sorry,’ and I that I loved them."

Blackmon was transported by ambulance to the emergency department at the local children’s hospital, and was later sent to the burn unit for wound care and debridement.

"With how severe the burn was, they would typically recommend skin grafts, but they wouldn’t consider it for him because of the risks to his airway," his mother said.

Blackmon had weekly visits with the burn unit for four months, during which the doctors scraped off dead skin and performed wound care.

"This was done with no pain meds or numbing, so all his follow-up appointments were very painful," Fallon Blackmon said.

"Once the wound started to heal and the scarring began, they had to do chemical burns because he was developing granulation tissue."

The teen also developed a rash from the bandages, which quickly turned into a staph infection.

"Another issue was that the burn was pulling fluids from his body, and this caused severe lower GI issues for months," his mother said.

Blackmon, who is a jiu-jitsu athlete, missed months of training and competing due to the injury. The family also faced thousands of dollars worth of hospital bills, doctor bills and wound care supplies over the four-month care period.

Now, the teen and his mother aim to help prevent other families from going through the same ordeal.

"If you purchase these types of toys, please just mention this trend and not to do it," she urged parents. "Even if they don’t have social media, kids in school are hearing it from other kids."

Today, Blackmon attends to his scar each day so that it doesn’t cause any issues with neck mobility.

"I have to do stretches and moisturize and massage it daily," he said.

"It hasn’t really changed my confidence because all my friends and family are very supportive and tell me my scar is cool."

To other kids who may be thinking about participating in this social media trend, Blackmon’s advice is simple: "Don’t do it! It’s stupid! It causes so much pain and other problems."

"Actually, just don’t do any trends on TikTok, even if you think they are harmless," he added. "Talk to your parents."

Blackmon’s mother agreed, noting that sharing the story and receiving negative criticism from adults online would be worth preventing another child from being "scarred for life" and experiencing something so traumatic.

A spokesperson for TikTok USDS Joint Venture previously shared with Fox News Digital that any content that "promotes dangerous behavior" and may lead to serious injury is considered a violation of the platform's Community Guidelines. The company claims that it immediately removes these videos when they are found.

Fox News Digital reached out to the manufacturer of NeeDoh requesting comment.
