Trump was 'one door away' from danger, GOP lawmakers says as he demands Secret Service explanation

EXCLUSIVE: President Donald Trump was "one door away" from danger at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, a GOP lawmaker said, as he demands answers from the Secret Service over what he described as a major security lapse.

House Homeland Security Committee member Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., who previously investigated security failures at the Butler, Pa., rally where Trump was targeted, said the latest incident raises similar concerns about gaps in Secret Service protection.

Gimenez, who examined the Butler site firsthand, told Fox News Digital that security at the Washington Hilton — where the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was held and where President Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981 — showed troubling vulnerabilities as well.

Gimenez said things have changed since then in some positive ways, as crowds can’t regularly get as close to a president as John Hinckley Jr. was able to when he attempted to kill the president, reportedly to impress Jodie Foster.

SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR CURRAN 'CONFIDENT' THE AGENCY WILL SOLVE FAILED TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS

"Mr. Brady got injured pretty severely — but it was a long time ago and things tend to kind of fade away into history and from memory. So I am not sure [of an apples-to-apples comparison]," he said, pivoting back to examining any "glaring holes" in the security posture at Trump’s event.

"If there were, why, and why weren't they caught? And who is responsible for that? And does the Secret Service have the training needed in order to account for and to make [adjustments]."

He questioned whether the Secret Service has the training and preplanning needed to prevent similar threats.

Gimenez dismissed any notions that Hilton itself was liable for the breaches, saying that when a president is threatened, the onus falls on his detail.

"It’s not the job of the Hilton hotel to protect the president and so again it all falls on Secret Service," he said while underlining that the rank-and-file officers are very brave and that they all did their jobs Saturday and stopped suspect Cole Allen quickly with no injuries beyond an agent hit in his vest.

TRUMP SHOOTING TASK FORCE SAYS DHS, SECRET SERVICE HAVEN'T PRODUCED DOCS ON GOLF COURSE INCIDENT

"My question is how did how in the world did that would-be assassin get that far, where he was basically one door away from God knows what. Those are questions that need to be answered."

Gimenez said that for events such as the WHCA dinner, "you have to account for the what-if," noting that the USSS may go through hours and days of "boredom" but need to be ready for an instantaneous threat.

"That doesn't mean you're going to think of every contingency, but you should be thinking of most and make it very, very difficult for any would-be assassin to get one door away from the president."

"Those are the concerns I have now – and those are the concerns I had in Butler."

He said that in both cases there were things that went both right and wrong.

Efforts to stop Allen went right, but allowing someone like him to get all the way to the sub-basement ballroom unfettered went wrong, Gimenez said.

When asked about his Butler special committee and whether a similar panel will be formed now, Gimenez said he’s heard rumblings about such, while reiterating that members of his staff had no problem getting into the various pre-parties without passing magnetometers or additional security, showing there remains a lot to examine.

He said he expects any panel to demand a classified briefing with USSS brass, and give "situational awareness" of the agency’s posture that night.

"It’s frankly rather amazing that we don't have a facility like that in the White House for state dinners, et cetera, for the most powerful country in the world, right?"

FORMER SECRET SERVICE OFFICIALS WARN OF LOW-TECH THREATS FACING TRUMP AFTER LATEST MAR-A-LAGO BREACH

In that regard, Gimenez said Trump is "ahead of the game" in a lot of areas and that his ballroom plans for the East Wing may have directly mitigated threats posed by using a public hotel in the business district with multiple entrances.

At the same time, he said procedures must be examined to see whether the USSS has fallen into a pattern of "what used to work in the past is good enough for what's working and what threats are today."

"We need to get to the bottom of it and see how the Secret Service is adapting to the new threat environment, which changes every single day."

After former USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle left the agency following the Butler failures, Gimenez said it will be important to look at what improvements, if any, have been undertaken by the new leadership in the two years since, analyzing their own worthiness.

On the ballroom debate, Gimenez said anyone who examines the plans seriously and apolitically will find that this is exactly the kind of solution needed for such threats.

"Putting my doctor hat on, I will say that the validity to those lawsuits is based on Trump Derangement Syndrome -- So [critics] need help, OK… The White House, which is a site of many official functions, and especially state dinners, when we're bringing in dignitaries and heads of states from around the world, needs a ballroom."

He said the "temporary tent" set up in the garden is an embarrassment for a first-world country.Fox News Digital reached out to the USSS for comment.

Crockett ripped for latest 'low IQ' jab at paralyzed Texas governor following ‘Hot Wheels’ fallout

Outgoing Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett is drawing fresh criticism after appearing to mock Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s disability, reopening scrutiny over her past remarks about the paralyzed governor.

"It was a tree that ended up making [Abbott] a part of the DEI class, just so y’all know. He is DEI, yes, because he is uniquely-abled or actually he ain’t abled, child," said Crockett in a video posted to her X account on Wednesday

Crockett claimed Abbott became "wealthy after legislation allowed him to sue" following an incident when a tree fell and crippled him while on a jog. The incident left Abbott partially paralyzed and wheelchair-bound at the age of 26.

Crockett’s comments on Abbott's disability follow outrage over her "Governor Hot Wheels" remark in 2025, which the lawmaker denied was tied to the Republican governor's disability.

The office of the governor directed Fox News Digital to Abbott’s X post when approached for additional comment on the matter.

"Uniquely abled," wrote the governor along with an AI photo of him in a superhero suit while in his wheelchair.

Critics called the remarks "low IQ" on social media or responded with their own mockery and confusion.

"'I only mocked a paraplegic and suddenly people have a problem with me,'" said Fox News Contributor Joe Concha quipped on X.

"Uh. What." one account posted

"How does she think of this ridiculous stuff she says," another account posted

"DEI? Disgraced Jasmine Crockett claims Governor Abbott is a DEI hire as a result of his disability," X account Amuse wrote.

CROCKETT FIRES BACK AT JD VANCE'S 'STREET GIRL' COMMENTS, SAYS IT'S A RACIST TROPE

Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett's office on Thursday for additional comment.

Last year, Crockett landed in hot water for another comment about Abbott that was viewed as a jab at his disability.

"We in these hot a-- Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a-- mess, honey!" she said, laughing.

Crockett issued a statement at the time, without an apology, and said she "wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition," but his policies to deport illegal immigrants.

"At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged," she added.

Crockett launched a Senate bid but lost the Democratic primary in March and did not seek re-election to her House seat, bringing her time in Congress to an end in 2027.

What's the point? Why one area in Wisconsin has a very specific speed limit

It’s not a typo.

One Wisconsin county has set one area's speed limit to 17.3 mph in an eye-catching move aimed at jolting drivers into staying alert in a high-traffic work zone.

Officials in Outagamie County rolled out the unusual speed limit at the county’s Recycling and Solid Waste facility, where a constant flow of trucks, contractors and residents creates a busy and sometimes hazardous environment.

County leaders say the oddly specific number is intentional — and psychological.

DETROIT CAR CLUB SAVES SUBURBAN COFFEE SHOP FROM FORECLOSURE DURING COVID LOCKDOWNS

"Why 17.3? Because it makes you pause. It makes you look twice," officials said in a social media post announcing the change. The goal, they say, is to snap drivers out of "autopilot" and force them to pay closer attention to speed and safety while behind the wheel.

The site sees steady traffic from large hauling vehicles and smaller passenger cars, often moving in tight quarters.

The county believes the unconventional speed limit is a small change that will get drivers to slow down, stay alert and watch out for others.

1-YEAR-OLD INJURED AFTER TEEN DRIVER CRASHES CAR OFF OKLAHOMA BRIDGE

Whether it catches on elsewhere remains to be seen, but for now, 17.3 mph is turning heads in Wisconsin.

"Worked last weekend when I was there. Made us laugh," one user replied to the post.

Other users, however, were skeptical of the move.

"Sounds like something outagamie would do," another user wrote. "Plus you’ll get speeding for 17.4 and impeding traffic at 17.2, everyone gonna be paying up."

US eyes first-ever hypersonic Dark Eagle deployment as Iran pushes beyond strike range

The U.S. military has explored deploying its new Dark Eagle hypersonic weapon to the Middle East, according to a report, as the Army begins fielding the long-range system after years of delays.

U.S. Central Command has requested deployment of the Army’s Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, known as Dark Eagle, to the Middle East, according to a Bloomberg report citing a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

A defense official told Fox News Digital the system has reached initial operational capability, marking the first time the U.S. has a land-based hypersonic weapon available for potential use.

The request was driven in part by concerns that Iranian ballistic missile launchers have been moved beyond the range of existing U.S. systems, including the Army’s Precision Strike Missile, which can strike targets more than 300 miles away, according to the Bloomberg report.

US FALLS BEHIND IN HYPERSONIC RACE AS CHINA, RUSSIA GAIN EDGE

It reflects growing concern that existing U.S. strike capabilities may not be sufficient to reach key Iranian missile assets, while also highlighting a major milestone for the Army as it fields its first land-based hypersonic weapon. If deployed, Dark Eagle would significantly expand the U.S. military’s ability to strike distant, hard-to-reach targets with little warning, marking a shift in how the Pentagon can project power in the region.

The Army began fielding the system to one of its multidomain task forces in December 2025 following testing and live-fire exercises, according to the official, placing the weapon within specialized units designed to carry out long-range precision strikes across multiple domains.

Individual Dark Eagle missiles are estimated to cost around $15 million each, though earlier analyses have placed the cost significantly higher, while a single battery — including launchers and support equipment — is estimated at roughly $2.7 billion.

No deployment of the system to the Middle East has been publicly announced, and officials have not confirmed any request. The U.S. and Iran are still currently adhering to a ceasefire in hopes of broader negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

Dark Eagle is designed to travel at hypersonic speeds while maneuvering in flight, allowing it to strike targets at much longer ranges — potentially exceeding 1,700 miles — and with far less warning than traditional missiles.

That combination of speed and range makes it particularly suited for targeting mobile or hardened systems, such as missile launchers, that are difficult to reach with existing weapons.

Unlike traditional ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons can maneuver in flight, making them more difficult to track and intercept.

US GENERAL WARNS RUSSIA MAY BE DEVELOPING NUCLEAR ANTI-SATELLITE WEAPON IN ORBIT

The reported request comes as the Pentagon continues efforts to accelerate its hypersonic weapons programs amid concerns about competition with China and Russia.

The U.S. has spent years developing hypersonic weapons, though some programs have faced delays, testing constraints and shifting priorities as the Pentagon works to advance the technology.

China and Russia already have fielded hypersonic systems, underscoring the growing importance of weapons designed to travel at extreme speeds while maneuvering in flight, making them more difficult to detect and intercept.

"Fielding and scaling hypersonic weapons is a top priority for the War Department — and we are delivering at a  rapid speed," a Pentagon official told Fox News Digital. "'Scaled hypersonics' has been designated as one of the Department’s critical technology areas by Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael to focus resources on delivering cost-effective and lethal hypersonic solutions to the warfighter."

"The Department’s Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) is working to upgrade test facilities and establish new, nontraditional testing locations," the official said. "Simultaneously, the Department is placing its acquisition system on a ‘wartime footing’ to forge a robust, responsive industrial base capable of rapidly delivering these advanced technologies."

U.S. Central Command declined to comment to Fox News Digital.

Mamdani says if he speaks to King Charles, he'd tell him to return controversial gem to India

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said that if he has a chance to speak with King Charles during a 9/11 memorial event in New York City on Wednesday, he will ask the British monarch to return a controversial 105.6-carat diamond to India.

Mamdani was taking questions from reporters when he was asked what he’d say if King Charles happened to stop and chat at the event, a wreath laying at Ground Zero to honor those killed on 9/11 ahead of the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

"You know, if I was to speak to the king separately from that, I would probably encourage him to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond," Mamdani said, after first saying that he was focused primarily on the evening's memorial event.

The diamond, which is now set in the crown of the Queen Mother that was worn by Queen Elizabeth, the wife of King George VI and mother to Queen Elizabeth II, has a controversial history.

EVERY STOP ON KING CHARLES, QUEEN CAMILLA'S US VISIT: HERE'S WHERE THEY'RE TRAVELING IN AMERICA

The Koh-i-Noor, which means "Mountain of Light," was likely discovered in South India in the 13th century and is believed to have changed hands countless times over the following centuries.

In 1849, the gem wound up in Britain’s possession following its annexation of the Punjab and forcing its 10-year-old king to sign the Treaty of Lahore, requiring him to hand sovereignty — and the diamond — over to the British, according to Smithsonian Magazine.

DEADLY DIAMONDS AND CURSED CROWNS

The diamond became part of Britain’s Crown Jewels and was worn by several queens before it was set in the front of the crown of the Queen Mother worn by Queen Elizabeth, in which the gem has remained as it sits on display in the Tower of London.

India is one of several countries that have pushed for Britain to return the gem. Other countries laying claim to the famous diamond include Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan.

So far, neither Britain nor the royal family has given any indication that the diamond would be returned.

May Day protests to take place Friday as agitators across the US push 'Workers Over Billionaires' motto

Agitators and protesters are expected to gather in cities across the country Friday for May Day, boycotting work, school and shopping in demonstrations driven by the "Workers Over Billionaires" motto.

Nearly 500 organizations are planning more than 750 events, including roughly 200 virtual events, that will take place in New York, Washington D.C., Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles and other metropolitan cities.

"On May 1, 2026, workers, students, and families rally, march, and take action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No School. No Work. No Shopping," May Day Strong, which is the main organizer of the demonstrations, describes the event.

May Day’s roots trace back to the 19th Century, when Marxists, socialists and labor unions called for a day of strikes in Paris and later became a national holiday in the Soviet Union after the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.

LA HOTEL LEADERS WARN MAYOR BASS' $30 WAGE MANDATE IS KILLING BUSINESS AHEAD OF WORLD CUP, OLYMPICS

The first May Day protest occurred in 1886, with Chicago at the center of the demonstrations. At the time, several hundred thousand unions, socialists, anarchists and reformers took to the streets to advocate for the eight-hour workday.

Several days later, the protests turned deadly.

On May 3, 1886, violent agitators at the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company clashed with police, who opened fire on the crowd, killing at least two, according to reports.

ANTI-TRUMP 'NO KINGS' PROTEST ORGANIZERS TARGET MINNEAPOLIS-ST PAUL FOR NEXT FLAGSHIP DEMONSTRATION

The following day at Haymarket Square in Chicago, an unknown agitator threw a bomb at police, killing one officer instantly and leading to a violent battle that killed several more law enforcement officers and protesters.

The riot became known as the "Haymaker Affair," and the events led to the executions and hangings of the Haymarket Martyrs, a trial which is still debated over injustice and controversy today.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has already endorsed the events taking place this Friday, saying that "meaningful solidarity and community resistance" are cornerstones of the historic demonstration.

NETWORK FUNDED BY PRO-CCP TECH TYCOON TARGETS PALANTIR AMID ANTI-US PROTESTS THAT SUPPORT THE REGIME IN IRAN

"Encouraging participation allows Chicagoans to honor our history while advocating for our future," Johnson said. "We look forward to a day of meaningful solidarity and community resistance to the forces trying to tear us apart."

"The history of May Day in America is rooted in Chicago," Johnson added. "It was in our city that workers organized around the simple demand of an eight-hour workday and raised the consciousness of a gilded nation through the Haymarket Strike."

With the central theme surrounding the American worker against the billionaire class, economists are skeptical that a single-day boycott has any impact at all on large companies and the so-called elite.

ICE SWEEPS THROUGH LA BUSINESSES AS LOCAL DEMOCRATS CRY FOUL OVER TRUMP ADMINISTRATION'S ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS

"If you're talking about [non-perishable activities], like going to the movies, you'll go see the same movie on Saturday," University of Maryland Economics Professor Emeritus and former chief economist at the U.S. International Trade Commission Peter Morici told Fox News Digital.

Morici noted that if consumers boycott purchases for a single day, they will purchase the same products and shop at the same venues regardless of a one-day strike.

"Somebody will go to store B instead of store A," Morici explained. "All this is a bad storm and a way for the left wing getting everybody riled up."

"It's not a hit on the billionaires," Morici added. "You're angry about your circumstances. So what do you do? You burn the place down and make your circumstances worse. The local shops that are going without a day. The very people they want us to patronize are the people that could get hurt."

Speaker Johnson one step closer to renewing controversial spy program after conservatives fall in line

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is one step closer to averting a lapse in a controversial surveillance program after GOP privacy hawks fell in line to back a procedural measure amid weeks of infighting.

House lawmakers approved a test vote teeing up a three-year extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) for a vote on final passage as early as Wednesday evening. The procedural measure also includes a Senate-passed budget resolution funding immigration enforcement for the rest of President Donald Trump's term.

GOP leadership held the vote open for more than two hours as they worked to flip dozens of conservative holdouts. In order to get the rule adopted, leadership agreed to punt consideration of a third piece of legislation known as the farm bill, which includes agriculture and nutrition priorities.

Every Republican present ultimately voted yes during the marathon session in a major victory for Johnson. He could afford to lose just a handful of GOP defections given House Republicans’ razor-thin majority.

HOUSE CONSERVATIVES SKEPTICAL AS SENATE DEAL SACRIFICING DHS SPENDING REACHED: 'NON-STARTER'

The successful procedural vote came after a sustained lobbying campaign from the Trump administration and Republican leadership to sell GOP privacy hawks on an extension of the spy law.

"This is by far the most collaborative effort that I've seen on FISA, and we've had a number of these kinds of fights," Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, a leading FISA skeptic, told reporters earlier this week. "So I think it's a very collaborative work product, and that's why I say I support it."

"It's not to say I don't think there's other reforms that I would support, but I think this is a good win, and we should focus on a broader set of reforms that apply way beyond the scope of 702," the Ohio Republican added.

House conservatives also appeared to soften their opposition after leadership included language permanently banning central bank digital currencies (CBDC) in the procedural measure.

GOP privacy hawks have long pushed for adding a CBDC ban to a legislative vehicle, casting it as a necessary effort to ward off government surveillance.

But Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has warned that any FISA renewal bill with CBDC language is "dead on arrival" in the Senate.

"They know that," Thune told reporters Tuesday, referring to House Republicans.

The Senate could also move to pass a rival FISA plan and force the House to swallow it ahead of Thursday’s deadline to extend the spy law.

"FISA is critical to our national defense and our national security," Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., told Fox News. "If we lose FISA, we lose the ability to defend this country the way that it should be defended. We use that information to find out what the bad guys are doing, where they're at, what they're looking to attack, what their strategies are."

"I know we've got folks out there that are concerned about protecting Americans and so forth," Rounds added. "We really need them to take a look at the other side of this, which is, are you going to hurt Americans?"

'HELL WEEK' IN WASHINGTON: A LOOK AT HOUSE REPUBLICANS' CURRENT BIND, AND HOW WE GOT HERE

Johnson is also seeking to clear the Senate budget resolution as soon as Wednesday evening.

Leadership has scheduled a vote on the measure, but it is not clear if House Republicans will support the resolution without modifications. Democrats are expected to line up in opposition to the measure, citing concerns about funding immigration enforcement absent sweeping reforms.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is still vowing to strip out controversial pesticide language from the farm bill, arguing it would block lawsuits against some pesticide manufacturers.

"On behalf of all the moms and dads that aren’t in office, I am not going to be bullied into supporting a bill that is providing protections and immunity to corporations that are responsible for giving children and adults cancer," Luna wrote on social media. "This is literally above party affiliation."

Trump has urged House Republicans to quickly pass the Senate’s budget blueprint to fund immigration enforcement.

"It is imperative that Congress immediately fund DHS and its critical operations to protect the Homeland," the White House Office of Management and Budget wrote in a memo to Hill offices on Tuesday that was obtained by Fox News Digital. "Failure to pass the budget resolution will jeopardize paychecks for the DHS personnel that keep the Homeland safe."

Father of slain student Sheridan Gorman calls death a 'failure' after illegal immigrant's not guilty plea

Jose Medina-Medina, the illegal immigrant accused of killing college student Sheridan Gorman in Chicago, pleaded not guilty to all counts on Wednesday during his arraignment hearing.

Medina-Medina, 25, was arrested after he allegedly killed Gorman, an 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago student, on March 19. According to the Department of Homeland Security, he illegally entered the U.S. from Venezuela in 2023, when he was apprehended but released into the country by the Biden administration.

During his arraignment on Wednesday, Medina-Medina pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and illegal possession of a weapon. He also faces a federal charge of illegally possessing a firearm.

FEDS CHARGE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT IN LOYOLA STUDENT KILLING AS ATTORNEY SAYS PROSECUTORS LACK 'FAITH' IN STATE

Thomas Gorman, Sheridan's father, said after the hearing that her death "was not just a senseless tragedy. It was preventable."

"There were laws already in place, there were mechanisms already in place, and somehow they were not enforced in a way to prevent this from happening. This is not a policy debate, this is a failure," he said. "It's an empty seat at the table. It is silence where there used to be laughter. It's waking up every day knowing that your child is gone."

Sheridan's mother, Jessica Gorman, also addressed reporters after the hearing, remembering the daughter she described as "beautiful on the inside and out."

"She really mattered. And we're going to get justice for her," Jessica Gorman said.

Prosecutors revealed during an earlier detention hearing for Medina-Medina on April 3 that Gorman was with her friends at a Rogers Park pier when she looked around a lighthouse and saw Medina-Medina was there. Gorman then walked back toward her friends and mouthed, "There's a man behind the lighthouse," at which point Medina-Medina began chasing them.

As Gorman and her friends were running away, Medina-Medina shot her in the upper back, according to prosecutors. Her friends continued running until they found a place to hide, then when they went to check on Gorman, she was unresponsive.

An arrest report obtained by Fox News Digital states that after the shooting, Medina-Medina was seen on video in his apartment building's lobby waiting for an elevator while he wasn't masked. A building engineer told police that he knew the suspect who had a "very distinct limp and gait."

Images of the suspect were sent to a police database, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection identified the suspect as Medina-Medina. He was arrested at his apartment in Rogers Park, according to the arrest report.

Retired Chicago Police Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy told Fox News Digital the video evidence against Medina-Medina is "extremely strong."

"Video evidence is extremely strong, because people can see with their own two eyes, they're not relying on the representations of a prosecutor or defense attorney. They can make their own judgment. In this case, there was heavy emphasis put on the video evidence. And I think this speaks for itself," Roy said.

"Fortunately, in this case, there were cameras within the area of the murder and, you know, they were on it right away, so there wasn't a time gap," he added.

While Medina-Medina was in Colombia, he was shot in the head, which resulted in the loss of a portion of his brain and skull, leaving him to relearn basic functions, his attorney said. Medina-Medina's attorney said he has the brain development of a child and cannot read or write.

Medina-Medina's attorney also said he suffers from epilepsy and still has bullet fragments lodged in his brain. The murder suspect turned himself in at the Texas border in 2023, where he was held in detention before being released. His attorney said that Medina-Medina had requested to be sent back to Colombia, where his mother had moved, but he was transported by bus to Chicago.

While Medina-Medina was in a shelter, he contracted tuberculosis, according to his attorney. He was treated for tuberculosis after being arrested on murder charges, which led to a delay in his detention hearing.

Court documents obtained by Fox News Digital show that Medina-Medina told officials he was living at Leone Beach Park fieldhouse in Rogers Park in 2023, which was being used as a city-sponsored shelter for migrants.

Medina-Medina was arrested in 2023 and charged with shoplifting after he allegedly stole just over $130 in merchandise from a Macy's in downtown Chicago. He failed to appear for court hearings related to that case, and an arrest warrant remained active until the alleged murder.

Bears draft pick's sister, Kiera Thieneman, leans into attention with highlights from show stealing night

Last week’s NFL Draft produced, as is tradition during the annual event, a viral star. Kiera Thieneman, the sister of Oregon safety and Bears first-round pick Dillon Thieneman, was ready for the spotlight and it found her.

During an interview with the family on Thursday night in Pittsburgh after her brother was taken with the No. 25 overall pick, she stole the show. Clips of her looking on as her father answered questions were all over social media.

Kiera then found herself in Friday’s Screencaps, an honor that underscores the impact she had on this year’s NFL Draft. The reported member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Purdue is now in the history books alongside many of the other draft-night attention grabbers.

Where she takes the newfound attention is really up to her. Look no further than former WAG Gia Duddy, who stole the show during her then-boyfriend Will Levis’ draft slide.

She’s had a much better career as an influencer than her ex has had as a quarterback in the NFL. That doesn’t mean it’s easy to turn the viral attention into success. Not everyone makes it. The NFL is a tough business.

ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON'T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!

The first step to making it work is leaning into it. On Monday, Kiera did that. She announced that she’s "officially a bears fan!" and had a behind-the-scenes draft-night highlight reel to go along with the announcement.

That's a strong follow-up to first-round draft night success. I don’t know if this is the result of studying film or going off of instincts, but in either case, it's the sort of skillful display you're hoping to see out of a rookie.

There's a long way to go before the season gets here and stealing the spotlight on Thursday night during the draft doesn’t guarantee anything. Everything in the NFL is earned and nobody's going to hand you anything.

Now is the time for the Thienemans to get to work and prepare for their rookie season in Chicago. Best of luck to both of them as they enter the NFL.

89-year-old man allegedly opens fire with shotgun in Greek capital, injuring 4

An 89-year-old gunman allegedly opened fire inside two Athens government buildings Tuesday, wounding at least four people in a rare outbreak of violence that rattled Greece’s tightly controlled gun landscape and ended with his arrest hours later.

Police said the suspect first stormed a social security office, went up to the fourth floor and fired, striking an employee in the leg. Officials said the gunman warned one worker to duck before pulling the trigger, though he didn't appear to specifically target the employee he hit.

"He went in, went up to the fourth floor, raised his shotgun, told an employee to duck and hit another one," Alexandros Varveris, head of Greece’s National Social Security Fund, told state broadcaster ERT radio.

The wounded man was treated at the scene, but the suspect fled and later opened fire again inside a courthouse in another part of the city, where several people were wounded.

Authorities said at least three women, all court employees, suffered minor injuries from ricocheting pellets, while media reported that a fourth woman was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Surveillance video aired by local media showed a man calmly walking down the street carrying what appeared to be a short-barreled shotgun.

US Middle East ally strips citizenship from 69 in crackdown on pro-Iran support

Bahrain stripped citizenship from dozens of nationals Monday after accusing them of promoting pro-Iran sentiment online, marking the latest use of a controversial law that allows the government to revoke nationality for security concerns.

The interior ministry said 69 people — including some relatives of those accused — lost their citizenship for allegedly "glorifying" hostile Iranian actions and maintaining ties with foreign entities.

Bahrain said the revocations were carried out under Article 10(3) of its nationality law, which allows authorities to strip citizenship from individuals deemed to have harmed the kingdom’s interests or violated their duty of loyalty. Officials said those targeted — along with some of their family members — were all of non-Bahraini origin, a category that typically includes naturalized citizens rather than native-born nationals.

The move follows a directive issued days earlier by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who ordered officials to act against those who "betrayed the nation" or undermined its security and stability, including reviewing whether individuals should retain their citizenship.

The Kingdom of Bahrain Tuesday sentenced five people to life in prison and 25 more to 10 years on charges of spying for Iran. The prosecution said 25 others were separately sentenced to 10 years each for supporting Iran’s "terrorist acts" in Bahrain.

US EMBASSIES IN BAHRAIN, EGYPT ISSUE WARNINGS AS IRAN THREATENS UNIVERSITIES ACROSS MIDDLE EAST

The decision comes as Bahrain grapples with fallout from Iran’s recent missile and drone strikes across the Gulf, including attacks on U.S. military assets in the kingdom. Officials have cast the citizenship revocations as a national security measure aimed at suppressing domestic support for Iran and cutting off suspected ties to foreign networks.

STRANDED AMERICAN IN BAHRAIN RECOUNTS SURVIVING REPORTED IRANIAN STRIKE ON HIGH-RISE BUILDING, PLEADS FOR HELP

Relations between Bahrain and Iran long have been strained, with Bahrain accusing Iran of backing militant networks and unrest inside the kingdom. The two countries severed diplomatic ties in 2016, and Bahrain’s role as host of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet has placed it on the front lines of the current confrontation, with Iranian strikes hitting near the base during recent retaliatory attacks.

Bahrain also is home to a sizable community of citizens of Iranian descent — often referred to as the Ajam — estimated to number in the hundreds of thousands.

Authorities have linked the crackdown to a wider campaign against what they describe as Iran-backed influence operations, including arrests of individuals accused of sharing videos of Iranian strikes, posting pro-Iran content, or communicating with foreign groups. Bahrain also has reported uncovering cells tied to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which officials say were tasked with gathering intelligence on sensitive sites inside the kingdom.

Similar crackdowns have been reported across the Gulf since the start of the conflict, with hundreds of people arrested in countries including the United Arab Emirates for posting videos, images or commentary about Iranian attacks. Authorities have cited national security and public order laws, warning that even sharing footage of strikes could expose sensitive information or fuel unrest.

The measures come amid a broader regional trend of governments tightening citizenship rules on security grounds. Kuwait, for example, has revoked nationality from more than 70,000 people since 2024, with officials there saying the program is aimed at addressing fraud.

The move has drawn criticism from the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy, whose advocacy director Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei called it "the beginning of a dangerous era of repression" and said the decisions were imposed without legal safeguards or the right of appeal.

Carnival cruise ship passenger dies after falling from balcony – FBI investigates high-seas horror

A passenger aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship died Monday morning after apparently falling from the balcony of her room while the vessel was sailing near Catalina Island.

The incident occurred on the Carnival Firenze, which was off the Southern California coast when the female guest went over the balcony of her stateroom and landed on a lower deck, the cruise line confirmed to Fox News Digital.

She was traveling with family members, who alerted the ship’s crew, according to Carnival.

"As is customary following these kinds of incidents, law enforcement was on board while the ship was in Catalina Island on Monday to collect information," the company said in a statement, adding that all appropriate authorities had been notified.

FBI INVESTIGATING DEATH ON BOARD CARNIVAL DREAM CRUISE SHIP

The family has since left the ship and returned home, according to Carnival.

"Carnival’s Care Team is supporting the guest’s family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones," the company added.

In that case, a 67-year-old woman died while snorkeling off Australia’s Moreton Island during a shore excursion after she was found unresponsive in the water. Hours later, a separate passenger in his 70s reportedly climbed over the ship’s safety railing and went overboard, prompting an intensive search that was later suspended.

In a separate incident, two Carnival passengers also died in drowning cases at the company’s private Bahamas resort.

CNN's anti-Trump documentary delayed from airing after WHCA dinner shooting

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria was mocked on social media on Sunday after he announced his anti-Trump documentary, "The Imperial Presidency: A Fareed Zakaria Special," was bumped on the heels of the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner shooting

CNN has been in breaking news mode, focusing extensively on the assassination attempt at the WHCA Dinner attended by President Donald Trump on Saturday night. An episode of "Eva Longoria: Searching for France" was also preempted, but that didn’t stop critics from lampooning Zakaria.

"The Imperial Presidency," which was set to premiere on Sunday night, aimed to explore "how, over decades, presidential authority has steadily stretched beyond the limits envisioned by the Founders—evolving into a system increasingly vulnerable to abuse and capable of enabling an unscrupulous leader to edge toward autocracy," according to a CNN press release.

MELANIA TRUMP CALLS FOR ABC TO FIRE JIMMY KIMMEL OVER ‘HATEFUL AND VIOLENT RHETORIC'

The CNN press release also claimed, "Trump has pushed the boundaries of presidential authority—defying Congress, ignoring the courts, denying due process, attacking free speech, prosecuting political opponents, launching a war unilaterally, and deploying troops domestically."

Zakaria took to X on Sunday to inform that his documentary would air at a later date, prompting one critic to respond, "They keep having to delay programming on right-wing fascism because of left-wing violence."

"Our latest screed against our evil emperor will be delayed until we return to our screechy normal," NewsBusters executive editor Tim Graham joked.

New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz asked, "Is it because your rhetoric is making people violent and crazy?"

WHO IS COLE ALLEN? CALIFORNIA MAN NAMED AS SUSPECT IN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS' DINNER SHOOTING

Podcaster Jim Treacher mocked the notion of an "imperial presidency" when multiple CNN journalists were expected to dine with Trump on Saturday before gunfire brought the dinner to a sudden halt.

"It's an ‘imperial presidency,’ yet a whole roomful of your highly principled colleagues voluntarily sat in the same room with him," Treacher wrote. "Oh, wait, I forgot: They wore First Amendment pocket squares! That's brave."

WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS' DINNER SHOOTING SHARPENS FOCUS ON TRUMP’S BALLROOM CONSTRUCTION PROPOSAL

Many others took to social media with thoughts:

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It is common for major breaking news coverage on cable news to preempt pre-planned weekend and late-night programs.

Authorities have identified Cole Allen, 31, as the suspect arrested in the shooting that happened at the Washington Hilton hotel as President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other senior Cabinet officials were attending the media dinner.

Will anyone hire Dianna Russini ever again?

Dianna Russini’s career as a credible NFL reporter is over amid an ongoing scandal involving allegations of an inappropriate relationship with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel. The question is whether she has any future in sports media, perhaps in a different role.

Last Thursday, minutes before the start of the NFL Draft, Russini deactivated her X account after users resurfaced old posts in which she joked about the name of her son, Michael. If she does not reactivate the account within 30 days, X will permanently delete the page along with all of her followers.

The absence of a social media following would make any return difficult.

A television network is not going to hire a reporter who resigned from The New York Times after reportedly asking her to provide proof that her relationship with Vrabel was appropriate. If she eventually returns to media, it will almost certainly be exclusively online, where a social following is paramount.

MIKE VRABEL ADMITTING TO "DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS" DIDN’T HELP HIM OR DIANNA RUSSI

Fortunately for Russini, there are digital platforms where ethics are not necessary. Dan Le Batard’s Meadowlark Media is one. Russini has a pre-existing relationship with Le Batard, who has shown a willingness to work with controversial personalities if they align politically. He previously hired Howard Bryant after he was arrested for allegedly beating and choking his wife.

However, Russini built her career as a reporter. Sources are likely to be less inclined to work with her going forward, given her reputation and lack of a mainstream platform. If she cannot offer insight, viewers will have little reason to consume her content.

Likewise, Russini would have a hard time convincing readers to pay for her content on a platform like Substack.

PATRIOTS COACH MIKE VRABEL RESPONDS AFTER PHOTOS WITH NEW YORK TIMES NFL REPORTER LEAK

Consider that, in her initial denial, she issued a statement to the New York Post stating that it was merely professional. If she lied, she didn't just lie to her former employer. She also lied to her readers. The idea that those readers would then turn around and pay for her content seems unlikely.

Even at just 43 years old, Russini will always be known as the reporter caught hugging and holding hands with Mike Vrabel at an "adults-only" Arizona resort.

That is now her reputation, and one she will struggle to shed.

We don't see much of an audience for a scandal-plagued Dianna Russini, beyond the initial buzz over whether she addresses the photos.

The general public no longer trusts her. Nor should it. And, according to OutKick sources, her colleagues didn't trust her before the scandal.

For all intents and purposes, Russini’s career is over.

Panera workers slam new menu item as 'huge waste' as customers question value

Panera Bread's latest menu item is drawing backlash online, as employees of the chain are claiming the new item leads to perfectly good bread and extra salad being tossed in the trash.

The fast-casual chain's new Salad Stuffers, which launched April 8, are marketed as "a bread bowl for your salad."

But workers posting on Reddit claim the offering requires throwing away significant portions of Italian bread — and in some cases, leftover salad — according to an article in Today.com.

VIRAL HACK COULD SAVE YOU FROM SPENDING ON 'INSANELY EXPENSIVE' AIRPORT FOOD

In Panera's announcement earlier this month about the new category, chief marketing officer Mark Shambura said guests in testing "couldn't get enough" of the new roll, and called the concept a fresh spin on the chain's signature bread bowl.

The reaction online, though, has been less enthusiastic.

"The core of the bread is thrown out, and a good chunk of the salad gets tossed in the trash, too," someone claiming to be an employee at the chain wrote on Reddit's Panera forum.

"These are a huge waste of money and food. ... I wouldn't recommend spending your hard-earned cash on them."

Another poster shared a photo on the same Reddit community, showing a tray piled with hollowed-out bread pieces.

RESTAURANT OWNER COULD 'GO BROKE' UNDER BLUE STATE'S PROPOSED TO-GO PACKAGING BAN, HE WARNS

The person wrote, "My manager went to a meeting about menu changes and was told these scraps cannot be given to customers or fed to birds."

Some commenters also questioned whether the item represents a true innovation — arguing it closely resembles a standard sandwich with minor changes.

"What's a Salad Stuffer roll? They shove a salad into a hollowed-out roll? Isn't that just a sandwich then?" one Reddit user wrote.

Another chimed in, "Why not just make a sandwich??"

DAIRY QUEEN'S NEW DRIVE-THRUS WITHOUT HUMANS SPARK BACKLASH FROM FRUSTRATED CUSTOMERS

Others suggested ways the leftover bread could be repurposed to reduce waste.

"We made croutons and had a snack," one commenter wrote — while another said, "I will be making French toast casserole with these scraps."

MCDONALD'S CEO DRAGGED AGAIN AFTER ANOTHER AWKWARD FOOD VIDEO: 'NUGGET BITE WAS WORSE'

Said yet another person, "If the CEO were a smart man, these would be the new croutons.

Someone else added, "They should bake the dough with a tinfoil thing inside so the bread is hollow and doesn't need to be wasted!!"

Others suggested a bread pudding dessert or stuffing.

One commenter simply exclaimed, "I want my bread guts!"

Outside reviewers have also raised questions about whether the product is worth the price, adding to criticism from some customers.

In a review, Tasting Table said Panera's Salad Stuffers were "meh" as expected. The outlet praised a few heartier combinations, such as the Steakhouse Salad Stuffer, but argued against the value.

The review ultimately recommended that customers just order a half salad, take the free baguette on the side and make their own version.

Some critics have also pointed out that the item bears a resemblance to offerings from Bread Zeppelin, a Texas-based chain known for its salad-stuffed baguettes, Today.com reported.

Bread Zeppelin also leaned into the comparison.

"Hey @PaneraBread, Zeppelin's walked, so Stuffers could ... try," the company posted on social media.

It also promoted a limited-time deal encouraging customers to bring in a Panera receipt to receive a free salad-stuffed baguette to compare the two.

The chain has also emphasized that it repurposes leftover bread into items like croutons and bread pudding.

But not everyone was so quick to toss the Salad Stuffer.

One Reddit commenter said the item was "delicious" and described it as "like a Panera version of a wrap."

Fox News Digital reached out to Panera, which is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, for comment.

In its announcement about the new Salad Stuffer item, the brand said, "Panera chefs and bakers innovated the new Italian Stuffer Roll to deliver the ideal balance of fluffy, soft bread and a freshly prepared dressed salad in every bite. Guests can make any salad on the menu a Stuffer, from classics like the Green Goddess Cobb Salad with Chicken or Caesar Salad to two bold, chef-crafted options created specifically for this new innovation, available at participating cafés."

Panera Bread first opened in 1987. As of March 31, 2026, there were 2,251 bakery-cafés in 48 states, in Washington, D.C., and in Ontario, Canada, the company said in its release.

Cincinnati Reds debut City Connect uniforms and they are an abomination

MLB teams have been trying out uniforms across the league labeled as the "City Connect" collection. Some are cool, some are lame and some are... the Cincinnati Reds.

Full disclosure: I am a Reds fan. It's a painful existence, to be certain (Cincinnati hasn't won a playoff series since 1995 when I was 6 years old). But I'm not sure that I've seen anything as disgusting on the field as the uniforms the Reds wore on Saturday night against the Detroit Tigers.

ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON'T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!

Prior to the game, the Reds welcomed the team's 2026 Reds Hall of Fame Class, including Brandon Phillips, Lou Piniella, Aaron Harang and Reggie Sanders. And then they subjected those team legends to the worst uniforms in franchise history. A history that also includes many sleeveless jerseys, by the way.

For the squeamish among us, I'd encourage you now to either shield your eyes or go read another story (preferably not that one, retention time is important for me).

Seriously, what the heck are these uniforms? The all-red is atrocious. The logo is huge and ugly. And, you might not be able to tell, but there are also faint pinstripes on the jersey, the pants and the helmet. Why? It's as if the designer's direction was "Hey, can you make the ugliest uniforms in Reds history?"

"Done and done."

And just to be clear, this is the actual plan: an all-red City Connect 2.0 set with faint pinstripes and a darker red sleeve. It's not a one-off mistake.

For the record, here's what the Reds official website says about the uniforms:

"A perennial favorite of both Reds fans and players alike, pinstripes have been featured on various Reds uniforms throughout history. City Connect 2.0 brings back this classic element to a new generation, but in a modernized tone-on-tone style. The sleeve is a darker shade of red and the jersey’s pinstripes [are] intentionally cut off at the shoulder, a nod to the popular vest-style uniforms last worn two decades ago."

Why in the world are they reminding people about the "vest-style" uniforms? Those were terrible too!

SMALL MARKET MLB TEAMS ARE OUTPERFORMING BIG PAYROLLS, UNDERMINING OWNERS' PUSH TO CANCEL 2027 SEASON

With all the discussions about the New York Yankees looking to finally add an alternate uniform, I think it's time the Reds went the opposite direction. Cincinnati is the oldest franchise in MLB history. They should have simple, classic uniforms. I get it, I sound like a mid-30-year-old trapped in the mind of an 80-year-old. Fine.

Give me the classic Reds uniforms all day over this "modern" abomination.

Kimmel calls Melania Trump an ‘expectant widow’ before White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump in a White House Correspondents' Dinner parody this week, calling her "an expectant widow" and joking about her marriage, just days before the dinner was disrupted by a shooting.

"Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow," Kimmel said in his parody of the event on Thursday.

WNBA STAR'S 1-WORD RESPONSE AFTER OBAMA ACCUSES TRUMP ADMIN OF TAKING 'CANCEL CULTURE' TO 'DANGEROUS LEVEL'

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is an annual gathering hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association to honor journalism and fund scholarships. This year’s event, which took place on Saturday in Washington D.C., drew outsized attention because Trump attended in person for the first time while in office, though the evening was later overshadowed by violence.

Kimmel also used the parody to mock the Trumps' relationship, portraying distance between the president and the first lady.

"Oh, by the way, Melania, this is Donald. Donald, this is Melania," Kimmel said.

CNN COMMENTATOR SAID TRUMP ‘WANTS US DEAD’ MINUTES BEFORE WH DINNER SHOOTING SCARE

The comedian pivoted to the first lady's April 26 birthday and imagined how she would mark the occasion.

"She’s planning to celebrate at home the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, ‘What have I done?’" Kimmel said.

WHO IS COLE ALLEN? CALIFORNIA MAN NAMED AS SUSPECT IN WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS' DINNER SHOOTING

Kimmel’s segment aired just days before the annual Correspondents’ Dinner was thrown into chaos when authorities said 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, Calif., rushed a Secret Service checkpoint at the Washington Hilton armed with multiple weapons and opened fire on an officer.

Fox News Digital reported the officer was struck in a ballistic vest and taken to a hospital, while agents returned fire and detained Allen, who was also transported for treatment. Trump, first lady Melania Trump and senior administration officials were then rushed from the venue by Secret Service agents.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and ABC for comment but did not immediately hear back.

WWE legend touts 'very, very high' ceilings for rising stars Kendal Grey, Kali Armstrong

Kendal Grey and Kali Armstrong are two pro wrestlers who represent the future of WWE's women’s division.

Each rising superstar was able to attain WWE Evolve Women’s Championships during their time at the developmental promotion and have made a major impact since being called up to the NXT brand. Grey won the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge and Armstrong put Lola Vice on notice that she was coming for the NXT Women’s Championship.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T analyzed Grey and Armstrong’s meteoric rise in the company so far in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON'T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!

"She’s proved that she’s special man. She’s a special talent just in her infancy stages already. Then again, I wouldn’t want to push Kendal too quick because right now she’s being highly touted as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, women’s wrestler to come to the WWE system," he said.

"I don’t want her to get a big head or anything like that because she is so young to the business and she’s picked it up so quickly. But then again, psychology. When she learns that, oh man, she’s gonna be hell to deal with. She’s going to be something very, very special. But she’s gotta really lean into learning that side of it."

Booker T said that Armstrong has the ability to be great as well. However, there were still certain skills that she needed to hone before her greatness could be achieved.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

"She’s a very, very special talent. The first Evolve women’s champion. And then she lost that championship to Kendal Grey. I told her, ‘There’s a reason why you lost that championship. We gotta figure that out.’ You gotta put yourself into a position where, if you do lose it, it comes right back to you," he said.

"Again, there are those building blocks that we gotta work with Kali. Me, personally, I’m going to be working with Kali person-to-person, on a one-on-one perspective, to just hone that skill, to let her know those details. I always say what you do before and what you do after … She’s got it all. She checks off so many boxes but making her complete is something I’m so looking forward to."

Grey was an amateur wrestling star in high school and was on Team USA’s national wrestling team at one point.

Armstrong was a track and field star in college before she signed with WWE.

"But as far as the ceiling, very, very high for both of those ladies," Booker T added.

Both Grey and Armstrong will be among the talent appearing on Season 3 of "WWE Legends and Future Greats" on A+E. The new season begins Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET.

Wisconsin Dem's bar laments 'we almost got free beer day' for Trump assassination

A Wisconsin brewery and taproom known for promising "free beer" when President Donald Trump dies is drawing renewed scrutiny for posting on Facebook "we almost got #freebeerday."

The Minocqua Brewing Company is owned by Wisconsin Democrat Kirk Bangstad, a former state Assembly candidate who has repeatedly used the brewery’s brand to attack Trump and Republicans. The brewery's social media lamented Saturday night's foiled attack at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

"Well, we almost got #freebeerday," the company's post read, although Fox News could not immediately identify the poster's tie to the owner. "Either a brother or sister in the Resistance needs to work on their marksmanship or he faked another assassination to get a positive news cycle. We’ll never know."

IDAHO BAR OWNER FACES DEATH THREATS AFTER VIRAL PROMO OFFERING FREE BEER FOR ASSISTING ICE

"Regardless, we stand at the ready to pour free beer the day it happens," the post concluded.

Bangstad was the Democrat nominee for Wisconsin’s 34th Assembly District in 2020, according to Ballotpedia, but lost the general election.

Minocqua Brewing sells politically themed merchandise, including shirts saying, "I wish it was free beer day," and pitches its progressive brand that pairs beer with activism and "snarky progressive merch."

DONALD TRUMP JR. WARNS POLITICAL VIOLENCE IS 'NOT GOING BOTH WAYS' AS HE MOURNS CHARLIE KIRK'S DEATH

Fox News Digital previously reported on the brewery’s "free beer day" vow. In January, Fox News highlighted a Minocqua Brewing message offering "free beer, all day long, the day he dies," and noted Bangstad’s comment that he would welcome people to celebrate Trump’s "impending death" with one caveat: "no red hats allowed."

Fox News also identified Bangstad as the founder of the Minocqua Brewing Company super PAC, which targets Trump and Republicans. Also, Bangstad once sued to keep Trump off the Wisconsin ballots before the 2024 presidential election.

The fresh backlash followed Saturday night’s security scare at the WHCA dinner in Washington, where Trump and first lady Melania Trump were evacuated after shots were fired outside the ballroom.

Fox News reached out Sunday to Bangstad, the brewery and the Wisconsin Democratic Party. In a January statement to Fox News, Bangstad welcomed the celebration of the "impending death" of Trump.

PENTAGON CALLS CHARLIE KIRK POSTS ‘DOMESTIC TERRORISM’; DEM WARNS DISCIPLINE IS ‘UN-AMERICAN’

Bangstad and Minocqua Brewing have drawn repeated scrutiny beyond their anti-Trump messaging. Wisconsin Public Radio reported Bangstad was charged last year in a harassment case tied to a dispute with a local newspaper publisher, and Wisconsin newspaper reporting said he later entered a no-contest plea in a disorderly conduct case and was found guilty earlier this month.

JB PRITZKER CONDEMNS POLITICAL VIOLENCE AFTER CHARLIE KIRK'S DEATH, SAYS TRUMP'S RHETORIC 'OFTEN FOMENTS IT'

Trump-backed House candidate Michael Alfonso called out the normalization of Bangstad's rhetoric in the state.

"This brewery is owned by a man named Kirk Bangstad, and he’s not just some random crazy guy," Alfonso posted on X. "Kirk is friends with current Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner Francesca Hong. He previously employed Rebecca Cooke, the Democrat currently running against Derrick Van Orden, and was himself the Democratic nominee against my father-in-law, Sean Duffy, in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District—where I am now running for office."

TRUMP RALLY GUNMAN ACTED ALONE, FBI SAYS — BUT QUESTIONS ABOUT MOTIVE PERSIST

Wisconsin Republicans and the Republican National Committee are calling out the ties to Bangstad.

"Wisconsin Democrats are so sick in the head that an attempted murder is funny to them," RNC spokeswoman Delanie Bomar told Fox News Digital on Sunday morning.

"All Wisconsin Democrats, including Rebecca Cooke, must immediately condemn this disgusting behavior."

Fox News also reached out to Cooke's campaign for comment.

‘No contact’ on the rise: Nearly 2 in 5 Americans cut ties with loved ones

More Americans are choosing to walk away from difficult relationships instead of working through them, a new survey has revealed.

Nearly two in five Americans — 38% — say they have gone "no contact" with a friend or family member in the past year, according to a survey of 2,000 adults conducted in March by Talker Research for the therapy platform Talkspace.

"These results suggest that avoiding relationship challenges is becoming more common," Dr. Nikole Benders-Hadi, chief medical officer at Talkspace, said in a statement. "But that approach can come with its own risks, making it harder to sustain meaningful connections over time and leading to more loneliness."

'DOORMAT MOM' CUT OFF BY DAUGHTER AMID ESTRANGEMENT TREND: ‘COMPLETELY BLINDSIDED’

Younger Americans were far more likely than older generations to report cutting someone off. The survey found that 60% of Gen Z respondents had gone "no contact," compared to 50% of millennials, 38% of Gen X and 20% of baby boomers.

John Puls, a Florida-based psychotherapist and adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University, said he has seen a growing trend of young adults, including Gen Zers, going no contact with their parents in his practice.

RELATIONSHIP COACH BLAMES OPRAH FOR PUSHING FAMILY ESTRANGEMENT "FOR DECADES"

"This generation appears to have a low tolerance for otherwise poor behavior from their parents," Puls, who was not involved in the study, told Fox News Digital. "They are often conflict-avoidant, which prevents them from trying to meaningfully work through their issues with their parents."

Their parents, meanwhile, are often unwilling to examine their role in any of the conflict within the relationship, Puls added. "This creates a situation where neither party is willing to compromise or take ownership."

FAMILY BREAKUPS OVER POLITICS MAY HURT MORE THAN YOU THINK, EXPERT SAYS

Thirty-six percent of overall respondents said the top reason for severing ties with someone was feeling disrespected. Nearly 30% said the relationship negatively affected their mental health or that the other person was too negative.

The cutoffs often appear to last. Among those who said they went "no contact" in the past year, 59% said they are still not speaking to the person, according to the survey.

The findings also suggest that "no contact" may be part of a wider retreat from uncomfortable interactions. Nearly three-quarters of respondents, 73%, said their instinct during relationship problems is to distance themselves rather than communicate and work through the issue.

Other behaviors in the poll point in the same direction. More than a third of respondents said they had blocked a friend or family member on social media in the past year, while 30% said they had removed a loved one from a group chat.

While the study was sponsored by a therapy platform and has not undergone peer review, experts have previously told Fox News Digital that "cutoff culture" is becoming normalized, with some arguing that media messaging — including from figures like Oprah Winfrey and the Beckhams — has helped drive the trend.

Many experts agree the tactic should be used only as a last resort.

Puls stressed that no case of going zero-contact with a family member or friend is the same and while it is necessary in rare situations, it often comes with long-term regret and resentment. "I always recommend my patients try ongoing family therapy, compromise and implementing boundaries," he said.

Nari Jeter, PhD, a Florida-based licensed marriage and family therapist, agreed. "Some people think that once you go no-contact, you’ll immediately feel peace — that’s usually not the case," she said.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

"This is often a heart-wrenching and even agonizing process," Jeter, who was not involved in the research, added.

But the move doesn't have to be forever, she noted: "No contact can become fertile ground for future reconciliation."

McCaffery’s six seasons playing basketball all came with his dad as the team’s head coach.

As Clark has ascended into superstardom with the Indiana Fever in the WNBA, McCaffery is following in his father’s footsteps. Following his playing days at Iowa, McCaffery spent one season with the Indiana Pacers as a team assistant in an entry-level position before joining Butler as an assistant coach.

Clark is entering her third season with the Fever and is looking to get back on track after an injury-plagued second season. As a rookie, she burst onto the scene, winning Rookie of the Year and coming fourth in MVP voting.

However, last season, she played just 13 games while battling a litany of injuries.

Texans general manager delivers strong denial regarding possibly trading star receiver: 'Shove it'

The Houston Texans have had difficulties getting beyond the wild-card round of the playoffs, which sometimes prompts some changes on a roster.

But for the Texans, if they want to play for a Super Bowl trip, they say it will be with their star receiver.

Nico Collins is entering his sixth NFL season, all with Houston, and signed a three-year, $72.75 million extension after his third. Set to reach free agency after the 2027 season, Collins has reportedly said to teammates that he believes he is underpaid.

But despite Collins' apparent disappointment, he's not going anywhere.

"We’re not trading Nico Collins," Texans general manager Nick Caserio told reporters Friday.

"Whoever reported it or whatever information that they had, they can shove it. We’re not trading Nico."

Collins broke out in his third season, recording 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns -- in his first two seasons, he combined for 70 receptions, 927 yards and three touchdowns.

Collins has since made two Pro Bowls and has recorded at least 1,000 yards in each of his last three seasons. He is set to be the 18th-highest-paid receiver in the league, despite, since 2023, being ninth in receiving yards and tied for eighth in touchdowns.

But since Collins signed his deal, numerous receivers have reached nine-figure deals, including Ja'Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Collins is accompanied by Jayden Higgins and Tank Dell, and quarterback C.J. Stroud is still on his rookie deal. Caserio even shut down the notion that Stroud was available for trade earlier this season.
