Panthers' Bryce Young commits bizarre fumble vs Dolphins, sparks scrutiny

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young committed a bizarre turnover in the first quarter of his game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers had the ball with 6:38 left in the first quarter when he dropped back to pass. Dolphins pass-rusher Bradley Chubb put the pressure on the third-year quarterback. Young tried to pump fake Chubb, but he lost the football instead.

Chubb pushed Young out of the way to recover the fumble and get the Dolphins the ball back.

NFL fans immediately jumped on Young’s abilities.

The turnover led to a touchdown drive by Miami.

The Dolphins had to go without him, but Tua Tagovailoa was targeting Darren Waller and Jaylen Waddle early in the game. To start the second quarter, Tagovailoa found running back De’Von Achane for a touchdown pass.

Young later threw an interception to Minkah Fitzaptrick.

Miami started the season 0-3, but was back in the win column on Monday when they defeated the New York Jets. Unfortunately, the team lost Tyreek Hill for the rest of the season in the win.

Carolina came into the game with a 1-3 record as well. But Young has not really impressed fans with his play so far.

He has 753 passing yards, five touchdown passes and three interceptions through four games. He had three touchdown passes in a 27-22 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. But he had zero touchdown passes in a 30-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

A win against the Dolphins may quiet some of the doubters.

Trump administration offers teen migrants $2,500 to leave US voluntarily: reports

The Trump administration is now offering teen migrants a $2,500 stipend to leave the United States voluntarily, according to several reports citing a letter sent Friday by the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement to shelters housing migrant children.

According to the letter seen by Reuters and other outlets, the department will provide a "one-time resettlement support stipend of $2,500" to unaccompanied children 14 or older. 

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) did not confirm the monetary amount to Fox News Digital but said Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) could access financial support when returning home, should they choose that option.

"Any payment to support a return home would be provided after an immigration judge grants the request and the individual arrives in their country of origin," Emily Covington, assistant director of ICE’s Office of Public Affairs, said in a statement. She said the offer was first being made to 17-year-olds. 

Covington said that cartels had trafficked countless unaccompanied children into the United States during the Biden Administration, and that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and HHS have been working diligently to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those children.

"Many of these UACs had no choice when they were dangerously smuggled into this country," she said. "ICE and the Office of Refugee and Resettlement at HHS are offering a strictly voluntary option to return home to their families."

Minors from Mexico are not eligible for the program, but children who had already volunteered to leave the U.S. as of Friday would be covered, the letter reportedly says.

The Associated Press reported that some immigration advocates had warned of a broader removal campaign they called "Freaky Friday." 

ICE rejected that claim, with Covington calling it "categorically false" and saying the phrase was fabricated to "instill fear and spread misinformation that drives the increased violence occurring against federal law enforcement."

The move is part of President Donald Trump’s campaign promise of carrying out the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.

Last month, DHS said that two million illegal immigrants "have been removed or have self-deported" from the United States since Jan. 20, putting the Trump administration on pace to break records.

In less than 250 days, an estimated 1.6 million illegal immigrants voluntarily self-deported, while 400,000 were removed by federal law enforcement, the DHS said, describing the situation as a "new milestone."

In May, Trump signed an executive order establishing the first-ever self-deportation program that incentivizes illegal migrants to voluntarily leave the country on a free flight and with a cash bonus.

Homeland Security said that migrants were being offered a $1,000 stipend each to leave. The department said it is 70% cheaper for American taxpayers, as it currently costs DHS, on average, over $17,000 to arrest, detain and deport someone.

In June, the State Department moved $250 million to DHS for voluntary deportations.

Shaina Aber, the executive director of the Acacia Center for Justice, a nonprofit that provides legal defense to immigrants, said in a statement that the $2,500 stipend undermines due process and may expose children to renewed trafficking cycles.

She said some of these children were trafficked into the U.S., often by cartels or smugglers, and if they are sent back without safeguards, they could fall back into the hands of the same traffickers.

"DHS’s message is confusing and seems to fly in the face of established laws and protocols that Congress passed to protect children from cyclical trafficking risks," Aber said.

Tennessee governor praises federal government's crackdown on crime in Memphis

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee appeared on "Fox & Friends" Friday, praising the Trump administration's federal crackdown on crime in Memphis.

In the Trump administration's latest move to combat crime in U.S. cities, federal agents operating in Memphis have logged nearly 100 arrests over the past 72 hours — including the arrest of a Tren de Aragua gang member and a man wanted in connection with the rape of a child, according to the Justice Department.

Lee told Fox News' Steve Doocy the federal crackdown is a "generational opportunity" for the city.

The governor noted that while Memphis is a "world-class city," it suffers from a serious crime problem. He thanked President Donald Trump for making it happen.

"Thanks to President Trump and his vision for safe cities in America, Memphis is about to be one of the safest cities in the country," he told Doocy. "We are very fortunate we have the full complement of federal resources to make that city safe."

Lee said his office had been working with the Trump administration and the FBI for months in preparation for "Operation Viper" in Memphis.

"It's really exciting to think that a city that has been held back by crime for so long, a great city that has a great future, but that's been held back for so long — is going to have the opportunity… Memphians have the opportunity to live safely again," the governor said.

Trump signed a memorandum in mid-September creating the Memphis Safe Task Force, modeled after his earlier initiative in Washington, D.C.

"I'm signing a presidential memorandum to establish the Memphis Safe Task Force," Trump said in the Oval Office last month. "And it's very important because of the crime that's going on, not only in Memphis, in many cities, that we're going to take care of all of them a step by step, just like we did in D.C."

Before the start of "Operation Viper," the president told "Fox & Friends" that Memphis is "troubled" and that "we’re going to fix that just like we did Washington."

Trump initially mobilized 800 D.C. National Guard troops to reduce crime in Washington on Aug. 11. Additionally, National Guard troops from Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee were dispatched to support the Trump administration’s effort.

Eric Adams drops out of NYC mayoral race as Mamdani gains ground

New York City Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of the city’s mayoral race on Sunday, halting his re-election campaign just five weeks before Election Day.

Adams announced his decision in a nearly nine-minute video posted on social media, offering no clues about his plans after leaving office.

"It’s been an honor to be your mayor," Adams said in his announcement, as he highlighted what he described as achievements related to crime reduction, housing affordability and economic recovery during his time in office.

"And yet despite all that we have achieved, I cannot continue my re-election campaign," he said, adding that he was unable to raise the funds for a "serious campaign." 

The move followed weeks of speculation he might clear the way for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a contest where Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, has gained momentum.

Adams has also trailed both Mamdani and Cuomo significantly in campaign fundraising and spending.

Adams' exit comes as New York City eyes the potential election of 33-year-old democratic socialist upstart Mamdani.

Mamdani's ascent has drawn national notice: President Donald Trump told reporters earlier this month he’d "like to see two people drop out" of the NYC mayoral race to improve the chances of beating Mamdani.

The Trump administration has slammed Mamdani’s economic agenda, casting it as a threat to business and growth. The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Mamdani has placed affordability at the center of his campaign to lead America’s largest city, pitching ideas such as free buses, city-owned grocery stores, and rent freezes for tenants in rent-stabilized apartments. 

Those proposals have energized progressive voters but rattled Wall Street, where executives warn they could drive investment out of New York and weaken the city’s tax base.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday that Mamdani’s proposals risk driving New York City into financial crisis, warning that if the city turns to Washington for a bailout, it won’t receive one.

"You can’t enact policies like this and expect to be bailed out," Bessent said during an interview with FOX Business' Maria Bartiromo on "Mornings with Maria."

Hungarian official touts 'golden age' of US relationship, credits Trump with boosting NATO and investment

UNITED NATIONS — A Hungarian official sat down with Fox News Digital at the United Nations this week as his country is poised to follow the U.S. in declaring Antifa a terrorist organization. He said the move highlights the strengthening ties between the U.S. and Hungary now that the Biden administration has ended.

"I think this is another issue which shows that the current Trump administration and the government of Prime Minister [Viktor] Orbán are close to each other when it comes to major political issues," Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó told Fox News Digital. "It was obvious that we do consider Antifa as an extremist organization, spreading an extremism ideology based on which they encourage their members and activists to attack innocent people. And this is simply unacceptable."

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a strong ally of President Donald Trump, said in a radio interview on Sept. 19 that it was time for Budapest to follow "the American model," according to The Associated Press.

Szijjártó also referenced an incident in 2023 in which Antifa activists assaulted individuals who they believed to be part of a far-right event in Budapest, the AP.

The outlet noted that one of the alleged assailants was Italian Antifascist activist Ilaria Salis, who has since become a member of the European Parliament, giving her immunity from prosecution. Szijjártó told Fox News Digital it was a "shame" that Hungary could not take legal action against her.

"The European Parliament has proved again that it is a super over-ideologized and over-politicized body [ruled] by the extremist, liberal, very aggressive extremist liberal mainstream," he said.

While Hungary has called on the European Union to also declare Antifa a terrorist organization, Szijjártó told Fox News Digital that he has "less hope" that the EU will act.

As Hungary faces challenges in Europe, it is seeing an improved relationship with the U.S., with Szijjártó hailing it as a "golden age."

"Under the Democrat administration, we Hungarians were considered as enemies. There was a very hostile approach by the Democrat administration," Szijjártó said, referring to former President Joe Biden's White House. "And since President Trump has been in office, this thing has totally, totally changed … We are basically experiencing the golden age of this U. S.-Hungary relationship."

Hungary also backs Trump’s call for greater NATO spending as the alliance faces renewed pressure over recent incursions into the airspace of Denmark, Estonia and Poland. Some of the incidents have been connected to Russia.

When speaking with Fox News Digital, Szijjártó emphasized Hungary’s view of NATO as "a very important pillar of European security."

"We do hope that NATO will further strengthen in the future. We have agreed with the approach of President Trump arguing in favor of increasing the share of defense spending of the allies' GDPs," Szijjártó said. 

Amid rising tensions between NATO and Russia, Hungary is uniquely aware of the dire risks of a confrontation between the two parties. 

Hungary shares a border with Ukraine and has witnessed the impact of Kyiv’s war with Russia up close. Szijjártó cautioned that a showdown between NATO and Russia could spark World War III. However, Hungary sees Trump as a likely peacemaker in the region.

"President Trump is the only hope to make peace," Szijjártó told Fox News Digital. He went on to say that the U.S.-Russia talks must continue to get the world to a stable place.

"Whenever there is a civilized, high-level Russia-U.S. engagement, then the security situation of the world is improving. Whenever there is [a] lack of U.S.-Russia talks, then the global security situation deteriorates," Szijjártó said.

Luigi Mangione moves to dismiss death penalty, federal case citing Bondi comments

Lawyers for Luigi Mangione are again asking a federal judge in New York to block the Justice Department's attempt to seek the death penalty if he is convicted in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, arguing that the government is pursuing capital punishment for political purposes and that top officials have inappropriately discussed the proceedings outside of court.

Mangione, a 27-year-old former Ivy Leaguer from a wealthy Maryland family, allegedly stalked Thompson to New York City, then shot him in the back on a sidewalk just steps from a hotel where the victim was supposed to meet Wall Street investors for a shareholder conference later that morning.

After a photo of the grinning suspect went viral, police found him in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where he was arrested five days after the Dec. 4 ambush.

MANGIONE SUPPORTERS PUSH 'JURY NULLIFICATION' AS UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO ASSASSINATION TRIAL LOOMS

In a 118-page motion filed Saturday, Mangione's lawyers accused the Trump administration of using his case to launch the president's renewed push to expand the use of capital punishment and "to demonstrate its loathing of the prior administration" after former President Joe Biden removed 37 out of 40 inmates from the federal death row before leaving office.

"Luigi Mangione is a 27-year-old Italian-American dual citizen whose beautiful, promising life has been derailed," six attorneys for Mangione claimed in the motion. "Born in Maryland into a large, close, loving family, he is now fighting for his life against a government that seeks to execute him."

They also took issue with how Attorney General Pam Bondi has discussed the case and the Justice Department's push for capital punishment online and in the media.

In particular, they singled out a comment she made on "Fox News Sunday" in April: "I was a capital prosecutor. I tried death penalty cases throughout my career. If there was ever a death case, this is one."

"This statement alone is enough to prejudice the entirety of this case," Mangione's lawyers wrote. "The Attorney General of the United States is telling the public that based on her personal experience as a capital prosecutor who tried death penalty cases throughout her career that Mangione is guilty and should be executed."

According to his lawyers, the Justice Department and law enforcement leaders have "serially violated his constitutional rights." They claim he was "overcharged" with a death penalty-eligible offense and noted that a New York judge recently threw out state-level terror charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

He now faces a top state charge of second-degree murder. Federally, he is accused of stalking, murder through use of a firearm and other gun charges.

They identified "six ways" they say his constitutional rights have been violated:

Additionally, the defense accused New York City leaders of overhyping and overcharging the state case, leaking details about a "manifesto," a term they don't want used, and anti-health insurance industry messages written on bullet casings connected to the murder.

The defense is asking for the court to dismiss the federal indictment outright, block the government from seeking the death penalty or strike the Justice Department's notice of intent to seek the death penalty.

Federal prosecutors previously shot back that the defense has no authority over how prosecutors present evidence to a grand jury.

Thompson, 50, was a Minnesota father of two visiting New York City for a publicly announced shareholder conference.

Mangione faces charges in New York, Pennsylvania and federal court in connection with the slaying and the suspected murder weapon, which had 3D-printed parts. He has pleaded not guilty.
