Trump ends Biden-era water regulations to ‘make America’s showers great again’

President Donald Trump is making "America’s showers great again."

On Wednesday, Trump signed an executive order ending a Biden-era conservation measure that placed "excessive regulations" on water pressure.

The restrictions were previously imposed by former President Barack Obama. While Trump attempted to loosen the water-saving measures during his first term, his efforts to restore "shower freedom" were eventually reversed by former President Joe Biden. 

"I like to take a nice shower, take care of my beautiful hair," Trump said as he signed an executive order at the White House. "I have to stand in the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. Comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous."

"What you do is you end up washing your hands five times longer, so it’s the same water," he added. "And we’re going to open it up so that people can live."

During the Obama-Biden administration, the former presidents "aggressively" limited the amount of water that could be discharged from appliances such as showerheads, washing machines and toilets, the White House said. 

"These changes served a radical green agenda that made life worse for everyday Americans," the White House said in a statement.

With the new executive order, Trump will be resetting the definition of "showerhead" from a 1992 energy law, which sets a simple 2.5-gallons-per-minute standard for showers.

"The Order frees Americans from excessive regulations that turned a basic household item into a bureaucratic nightmare," the White House said. "No longer will showerheads be weak and worthless."

The White House added "these appliances worked perfectly fine before Biden’s meddling piled on convoluted regulations that made those appliances worse." 

The U.S. Department of Energy previously said conservation standards would significantly cut energy waste and harmful carbon pollution while also saving Americans billions of dollars per year on energy and water bills. 

"Almost every U.S. household has a water heater, and for too long outdated energy efficiency standards have led to higher utility bills for families," said former U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm in a 2024 statement.

Trump praises Dem Gov. Gretchen Whitmer after slamming her last year: 'Very good person'

President Donald Trump said Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) has "done an excellent job" and called her a "very good person" during remarks on Wednesday.

"We’re honored to have, uh, Gretchen Whitmer," he said before going on to praise the Democratic governor.

The president apparently made the comments while Whitmer was in the Oval Office.

The president's glowing remarks stood in stark contrast to his assertion last year that she is a "terrible governor."

"President Trump will always put party aside to put America first! As the President has said, he is a president for all Americans, and is willing to come to the table with any state officials that want to make America greater," White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Thursday.

"Governor Whitmer recognizes that the President is flooding Michigan with more jobs, new investments, and economic prosperity—great achievements every governor should want for their state."

Whitmer backed then-Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 White House contest.

But the governor met with Trump on Wednesday.

"At the White House today, Governor Whitmer had a meeting with Speaker Hall and President Trump to discuss the northern Michigan ice storm, investing in Michigan’s defense assets, like Selfridge Air National Guard Base, tariffs and the importance of creating good-paying American jobs and bringing back critical supply chains, and keeping our Great Lakes clean and safe," a Whitmer spokesperson noted in a statement, referring to Wednesday.

"Governor Whitmer thanks President Trump for his acknowledgements on protecting the Great Lakes from invasive carp, his work on Selfridge, and his openness to our request for help in northern Michigan.

LA County homeless spending under the microscope of newly appointed US attorney

The freshly appointed, MAGA-aligned U.S. attorney for the Central District of California, which includes Los Angeles County, has launched an ambitious new federal criminal task force aimed at forensically investigating how billions in homeless funding over the past five years was spent.  

"We will get to the bottom of it. And if we find that any federal laws are violated, we will arrest and prosecute those individuals involved," U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli told Fox News in his first television interview at his office in Downtown Los Angeles.

Essayli announced the launch of the Homelessness Fraud and Corruption Task Force, which will include federal prosecutors from the FBI, IRS and HUD. One of the items on the agenda is investigating the results of a recent audit that revealed $2.3 billion of homeless funding is unaccounted for in Los Angeles County alone.

"That is not a rounding error. That's a lot of money. So we want to get to the bottom of where that money went," Essayli said.

Los Angeles County has received nationwide criticism for being unable to fix its homeless population that is visible from the streets of Skid Row in downtown, to the VA Hospital on Wilshire Boulevard and tourist hot spots in coastal Santa Monica.  

"It's un-American what's happening there. You have people living on the streets and there's nothing around, there's no government services that are being offered," Essayli said about his recent tour of Skid Row.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said she hoped Essayli’s investigation would not become a "fishing expedition" or a "distraction" to her homeless mission.

"Last year, Los Angeles bucked national increases with a 10% decrease in street homelessness and preliminary data points to another decrease for a second year in a row," a Bass spokesperson wrote in a statement. "These results are in part due to increased accountability and transparency around results and budgeting."

There is an estimated 75,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County, according to a 2024 survey.

The chair of the LA County Board of Supervisors, Kathryn Barger, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom told Fox News they welcomed Essayli’s investigation.

"I believe this task force will add a much-needed layer of oversight that will help restore public trust and ensure resources actually reach those in need," Barger wrote in a statement.

Newsom’s office said the governor has called for spending accountability, including mechanisms to "claw back" homeless funding from local governments that failed to demonstrate progress. 

"Local governments must use state and federal homelessness dollars responsibly — and we expect them to deliver results. We share the federal administration’s goal of ensuring taxpayer funds are being used effectively to get people off our streets," a Newsom spokesperson wrote.

Essayli, a former intern in the White House Counsel’s office during then-President George W. Bush’s administration, is a former federal prosecutor and, before being appointed U.S. attorney, was a Republican state assemblyman who frequently went head-to-head with Sacramento Democrats. The 39-year-old attorney has been publicly vocal about his alignment with President Donald Trump's MAGA policies.

"This is exactly what President Trump wants done," Essayli said about the task force. "He wants accountability for public officials, he wants accountability for taxpayers."

Scott Jennings taunts ex-MSNBC host for losing her job during heated tariff debate

CNN's Scott Jennings taunted ex-MSNBC host Tiffany Cross for losing her job during a heated exchange centered around President Donald Trump's tariffs on Wednesday night.

While discussing the recent developments around Trump's tariffs, the conversation pivoted to the president's aspirations of acquiring Greenland from Denmark.

Cross slammed Trump's plans, claiming, "It’s a colonizer’s attitude to say, 'I like it, I’m just going to steal it.'"

The two continued to argue, with Cross turning up the heat when she labeled Jennings "irrelevant."

"I’m not even talking about you. You’re not a member of government. So you’re irrelevant on that point. I’m talking about the president of the United States," Cross quipped.

Jennings fired back, saying, "You got fired from your job. How relevant are you?"

"Scott, if you want to engage in personal insults…" Cross replied before being interrupted by Jennings.

"I don't, but you do," Jennings responded.

Cross quickly blasted Jennings, saying, "What you lack in the legitimate point, you make up for it in personal insults."

Jennings once more told the ex-MSNBC host, "I don’t. You do."

The argument continued, with Cross claiming that Trump's foreign policy is causing the U.S. to become "increasingly isolated on the world stage."

Jennings disputed Cross's argument that the United States was becoming more isolated, to which Cross replied by accusing Jennings of engaging in "personal insults."

"So if you want to engage in personal insults, if I were you, I would reserve that for your party, who has increasingly isolated our position…" Cross said before being interrupted by other panelists.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, a vociferous critic of President Donald Trump, referred to America's sitting commander in chief as a "mofo" in a Wednesday morning post on X.

The term stands for the profanity "motherf---er."

"Sooo… I’ve said this before. This election was the best example of why (Diversity Equity & Inclusion) matter," the progressive lawmaker declared, apparently referring to the 2024 presidential contest between Trump and former Vice President Kamala Harris.

White House spokesperson Harrison Fields has said the congresswoman's constituents should vote her out of office.

"Crockett and her followers in the Democratic Party are simply all hammer and no nail. When she's leading the Democrats in ‘oversight,’ that's when you know the party is in shambles. Her constituents should DOGE her in the next election," Fields said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital by the White House in response to a comment request on Wednesday. The Dallas Morning News had previously reported Fields' statement on Tuesday.

Anjelica Huston breaks silence after she 'managed to survive' private cancer battle

Anjelica Huston opened up about her private cancer battle after years of being "in the clear."

The 73-year-old actress revealed she's been "in the clear" for four years. Huston chose not to share the type of cancer she battled.

"I'm at the four-year mark, and that means so much to me," "The Grifters" star told People magazine. "It's a fantastic thing. I'm very proud of myself, and I've been very lucky. My doctors have been wonderful."

Huston was first diagnosed with cancer in 2019. The actress had just completed "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum."

Huston was no stranger to Hollywood when she chose to pursue her acting career. The daughter of director John Huston and granddaughter of actor Walter Huston, she began acting in the 1980s.

Huston is known for roles in "Crimes and Misdemeanors," "The Addams Family," "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Smash."

At least 18 dead, 120 injured in roof collapse at Dominican Republic nightclub

At least 18 people died and more than 120 were injured after a roof fell at a nightclub in the capital of the Dominican Republic early Tuesday, authorities said.

Crews were searching for potential survivors in the rubble at Jet Set in Santo Domingo, said Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Center of Emergency Operations.

"We presume that many of them are still alive, and that is why the authorities here will not give up until not a single person remains under that rubble," he said.

Nelsy Cruz, the governor of Montecristi, was among the victims. Meanwhile, the injured include merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who was performing when the roof collapsed, officials said.

His manager, Enrique Paulino, whose shirt was spattered with blood, told reporters at the scene that the concert began shortly before midnight, with the roof collapsing almost an hour later, killing the group's saxophonist.

"It happened so quickly. I managed to throw myself into a corner," he said, adding that he initially thought it was an earthquake.

President Luis Abinader wrote on X that all rescue agencies are "working tirelessly" to help those affected.

"We deeply regret the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub. We have been following the incident minute by minute since it occurred," he wrote.

"You have to cooperate with authorities, please," he said. "We are removing people."

At one hospital where the injured were taken, an official stood outside reading aloud the names of survivors as a crowd gathered around her and yelled out the names of their loved ones.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the roof to collapse.
