Bill Maher unloads: 'How come it's okay for the left to hate the Jews?'
"Real Time" host Bill Maher put a spotlight on the lack of condemnation of the growing antisemitism that has erupted on the left in comparison to the country's response to the infamous 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville.
"I got a question. How come it's okay for the left to hate the Jews?" Maher asked on Friday night. "Because, obviously, if this was the people at Charlottesville doing this, wouldn't there be a bigger outcry?"
CNN contributor Ana Navarro responded by saying it's not an "apples to apples" comparison, saying that the "images" of dead children in Gaza are a major factor in the left's activism. But writer Joel Stein insisted the college students currently protesting have "more power" than the "tiki torch IT guys" that were marching in Charlottesville.

"Okay, well, if one side is deplorables and the other side does something that's- I mean, if I was a Holocaust survivor, and I guess there's not many of those left, but if I was, I would choose ‘Jews will not replace us’ over 'Death to Zionists," Maher said.
"There's no condemnation like there was with Charlottesville," he later added.

There were several antisemitic incidents that occurred in recent days. Last Saturday, violent anti-Israel protests took place outside the White House where a Hamas headband-wearing agitator held up a bloodied mask of President Biden's face.
On Monday, protesters chanted "Long live the intifada" outside a Nova Music Festival Exhibition in New York City memorializing the victims of Hamas' Oct. 7 attack.
On Wednesday, the home of Jewish officials with the Brooklyn Museum was vandalized with red paint and a banner hanged reading "white-supremacist Zionist."
Also this week, a video of anti-Israel protesters swarming a New York City car went viral showing them chanting "Raise your hand if you're a Zionist. This is your chance to get out."

Wedding mishap as couple forced to order fish-and-chip dinners for 110 guests after caterer bails
An engaged couple ran into quite the issue just hours before they tied the knot — but one restaurant came to the rescue.
Immie Teed and Josh Titmouth were set to get married in Exmouth, England, when the unthinkable happened to them.
The caterer for their 110-guest wedding came down with E. coli and couldn’t get out of bed — causing him to cancel on them within hours of their wedding.

Teed said that she and her husband-to-be had just arrived at the wedding venue when the caterer called to cancel, as SWNS reported.
"Josh, who knows him quite well, said, ‘If this is a joke, it’s not funny,’" Teed recalled about her new husband's words to the caterer.
The caterer said he'd been feeling sick for a few days beforehand but couldn’t get out of bed on the day of the wedding.

With the clock ticking down to wedding time, Teed said she and the other wedding guests tried to figure out a quick solution to find food for their 110 guests.
"One of our bridesmaids offered to make a huge vat of curry," Teed said, before mentioning that her mother thought about calling a local spot for help.
"My mom had the idea to call Krispies. We love their food [and] we know they’re reliable," she told SWNS.
"We source everything with meticulous care, our fish is from sustainable stocks, our chips are hand-cut daily and all our food is cooked fresh to order," says Krispies on its website.

The owner of the local shop, Kelly Barnes, ended up driving to the wedding venue — just 10 minutes down the road — to see how she could help.
Barnes said that "the bride was beside herself," so she knew she had to make something work, SWNS noted.
After putting her staff to work, Barnes said she was able to deliver 110 meals in time for the wedding — mainly fish and chips.
Other dishes served at the wedding included chicken nuggets for the kids and a veggie burger and chips for the vegetarian guests.

"Our team [was] amazing and some stayed on after their shift ended to help," Barnes recalled to SWNS.
Teed said the guests loved their meals — and she was grateful that someone saved the day.

Tejano singer and TV host Johnny Canales, who helped launch Selena's career, dead at 77
Tejano singer and longtime television music show host Johnny Canales has died. He was 77.
Canales' family confirmed his death in a statement posted Thursday on the Johnny and Nora Canales Show Facebook page. The post did not provide a cause of death.
"He was more than just a beloved husband, father, TV host, musician, and entertainer; he was a beacon of hope and joy for countless people," according to the statement. "His infectious charisma and dedication to promoting Latino music and culture left a large mark on the world."

Corpus Christi musician and music producer Dusty Oliveira told KXII-TV that as a child he watched and was inspired by Canales' show.
"To see someone from here do that and then blow up on a national scale, or a worldwide scale really, is really important because you want to see people like yourself doing these things," Oliveira said.

UN Security Council passes US-backed Gaza cease-fire proposal
The U.N. Security Council voted in favor of a U.S.-backed proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza on Monday.
The 15-member council negotiated over the deal for more than a week prior to Monday's vote. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield praised the outcome as a "vote for peace." Both Hamas and Israel have indicated that they favor the proposal.
"Yesterday, the UN Security Council called on Hamas to accept the deal on the table, which would end the fighting in Gaza. What is needed – now more than ever – is a ceasefire with the release of hostages. Israel has already accepted this deal. Now, the ball is in Hamas' court," Thomas-Greenfield wrote in a Tuesday statement.
The proposal passed with a unanimous 14-0 vote, with Russia abstaining.

The cease-fire proposal calls for a three-phase process leading to the end of Israel's war in Gaza, beginning with the exchange of hostages in Gaza for Palestinians imprisoned in Israel.
The second phase would see a negotiated end to the war and Israel withdrawing from Gaza. The third phase would cover the rebuilding of Gaza.
While Biden's administration says Israel has accepted the deal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not acknowledged that publicly. Thomas-Greenfield noted the discrepancy in a Monday interview with NPR.
"He hasn’t said [he accepts], for reasons that I am not… that I can’t get into here," she said.
A senior Hamas official confirmed the cease-fire deal on Tuesday. Sami Abu Zuhri said Hamas is ready to negotiate over the details, adding that it was up to Washington to ensure that Israel abides by it.

"The U.S. administration is facing a real test to carry out its commitments in compelling the occupation to immediately end the war in an implementation of the U.N. Security Council resolution," Abu Zuhri said.
Osama Hamdan, another senior Hamas leader, echoed calls for a permanent cease-fire and said the group is ready for a fair prisoner exchange deal, but he said the U.N. resolution has flaws and that Secretary of State Antony Blinken "is one of the obstacles to reaching an agreement because he acts solely according to 'Israel’s' wishes."
"The resolution contains points we do not accept, but its main aspects are positive," Hamdan said. "The Security Council resolution will not take effect on the ground unless the occupation agrees to it."

Butler demonstrated the multi-layered Snackle Box she created in a 13-second TikTok video that showed the red, hard-shell tackle box she used, which had several food-filled compartments.
"It’s such a fun idea," Butler told Fox News Digital, adding that she first saw the idea online after watching a video with her mother.
Butler recalled that her cousin was shocked when she saw what they did with the tackle box.

"She loved it, and we all had a great time picking from it and making different tasty creations," Butler said. "I will definitely be doing it again."

"If this was made for an indoor event, I don’t think the cooler would be necessary since it’s essentially just a charcuterie board within a tackle box," Butler said.
"And we all know charcuterie is kept at room temperature while you snack."

Butler’s video, originally shared on June 26, 2023, has been viewed millions of times. Thousands of people have also shared the video with friends and other social media platforms.

There’s now a Snackle Box hashtag on the popular video-sharing app, and it has multi-millions of views associated with it.
TikTok users have shared their own versions of Snackle Boxes, though most seem to not be as large as the one Butler created.

"I’ve had a lot of people say that they’re going to give it a try," Butler told Fox News Digital.
Butler said she's received requests from TikTok users who want her to make large charcuterie boards and table layouts after seeing her Snackle Box video go viral.
"It’s a job that I’d be willing to take on," she said.
More and more people have been sharing their creative Snackle Boxes on TikTok. In April, one user assembled a Snackle Box ahead of a "beach day" and the video has reached 9.6 million views.
"This is by far my best idea yet," the user captioned the video, which showed candies, chocolates, pretzels, veggies and drinks organized inside a tackle box.

California agrees to repay feds $52M in ‘improperly claimed’ immigrant Medicaid disbursements
The state of California recently agreed to repay more than $52 million in what a federal inspector general determined were "improperly claimed" Medicaid reimbursements for "noncitizens with unsatisfactory immigration status[es]."
An audit, concluded in late May but first reported Monday, underlined that federal Medicaid benefits are usually limited only to citizens and "qualified" noncitizens. Examples of qualified noncitizens are refugees, people granted asylum or those lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
The audit, conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services under Inspector General Christi Grimm, covered more than $372 million in federal Medicaid reimbursements made on behalf of noncitizens during fiscal year 2019. A total of $52.7 million of that sum was not filed for in accordance with federal requirements.
The inspector general in part blamed an outdated calculation metric for the disparity.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the California Department of Health Care Services acknowledged the inspector general’s findings.
"[DHCS] plans to repay the federal government in full by June 30, 2024," the statement read.
"Additionally, DHCS has worked with the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to develop and implement a more refined service identification methodology with updated payment and claiming processes."

Grimm’s report noted MediCal – California’s state Medicaid program – casts a wider coverage net than the federal government when it comes to noncitizens.
"Although MediCal covers full-scope services for noncitizens with UIS, California may claim federal reimbursement only for emergency services provided to these noncitizens and would generally need to pay for nonemergency services using state funds," the report said.
"According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), in May 2020, the California Department of Health Care Services notified CMS that it had been using a longstanding, CMS-approved methodology related to claiming costs for providing full-scope Medi-Cal coverage to noncitizens with UIS… [which] applied a proxy percentage to capitation payments made to Medicaid managed care plans on behalf of noncitizens with UIS."

The federal Medicaid agency first requested an audit, and in May 2020, the state agency told the feds it had erroneously claimed federal reimbursement, according to the report.
Illegal immigrants are also ineligible overall for federal "ObamaCare" coverage, according to HealthCare.gov.
