College football's Hawaii Bowl highlights slowest sports day of 2024

Sports fans can breathe easy on Christmas Eve as there will only be one game played on Tuesday before a full buffet of games on Christmas Day.

College football aficionados will be happy to know there is one bowl game on the slate. The Hawaii Bowl between South Florida and San Jose State. The game will start at 8 p.m. ET.

The Bulls finished 6-6 on the season and earned a second straight bowl game under head coach Alex Golesh. They had the same record last season before entering and winning the Boca Raton Bowl over Syracuse, 45-0.

The Spartans finished the season 7-5 overall in Ken Niumatalolo’s first season at the helm. The team is on a three-bowl-game losing streak. They lost the Hawaii Bowl last season and the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in 2022. The Spartans also lost the Arizona Bowl in 2020.

San Jose State hasn’t won a bowl game since the 2015 Cure Bowl under Ron Caragher.

Sports fans looking for some action should take it all in and be able to get some sleep before opening presents and starting Christmas Day at noon ET with NBA games.

The NFL also has games on Christmas Day for the second straight year – a two-game menu featuring the Kansas City Chiefs against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET and the Houston Texans hosting the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. ET.

College football will return on Dec. 26 and the NHL will be back on Dec. 27.

NY Republican compares sanctuary states to Confederacy: ‘We had a Civil War’ over federal law

New York’s last Republican governor said this week that sanctuary jurisdictions are reminiscent of the Confederate states that balked at federal law and waged war against the Union.

Former Gov. George Pataki was speaking with businessman and 2013 New York City GOP mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis on 77WABC radio when he was asked about the state of the Big Apple in that regard.

"Right now, I'm concerned and people are concerned and rightfully so. But it comes down to leadership. We've had worse times in the past. I remember back in the '60s and then in the early '80s. And things got infinitely better," Pataki said.

"And it comes down to having the right people with the right policies running the city, running the state and running the country. I think we're going to have the right policies in Washington. Now we just need to have the right leadership doing the right thing in Albany and in New York City."

Catismatidis said Trump has "put his foot down" against sanctuary policies, and quipped that he now has a "very large-sized shoe" given his overwhelming electoral victory.

Pataki agreed, adding that if the U.S. is to be based on the rule of law, it should apply equally everywhere.

"Cities or states that can pretend that the federal rules don't apply to them are just violating the Constitution and violating our freedom… We had a Civil War over this," he said.  "And, it became plain that under the Constitution, every city, every state has to follow the law of this country."

Prior to the war-triggering attack on Fort Sumter, South Carolina, President James Buchanan, a Pennsylvania Democrat, was critical of Republican abolitionists and lamented his home state's opposition to the Fugitive Slave Law. 

Following Illinois Republican Abraham Lincoln's 1860 victory, southern states began to secede, which Buchanan opposed, while believing a military response was the wrong option. The election of Lincoln, who opposed the expansion of slavery into federal territories, alarmed Deep South states, with South Carolina leading the way in declaring secession from the Union on Dec. 20, 1860.

Pataki went on to say the nation’s largest city is bucking the feds in that regard, along with Los Angeles and other cities.

"Trump must make them follow the law or cut off all federal funding. And I think that would be a very positive step to bring America together and to bring us forward," he said.

The two discussed how New York City Council enacted a sanctuary city policy, and whether the state or federal government may step in against it.

"I think [Mayor Eric] Adams may go along with [Trump intervention]," Pataki predicted, as other observers have viewed the mayor as being critical of sanctuary city policy but hamstrung by the 45-6 Democratic-majority city council.

The former governor said he is optimistic about the New Year and that Trump must "dramatically reform" Washington instead of "tinker[ing] around the edges."

He noted Trump does have limits, in that he cannot statutorily rein in New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg or other far-left officials.

Current Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat who has clashed with the MAGA wing of the Republican Party at times, once vociferously opposed another predecessor’s successful bid to make illegal immigrants eligible to receive driver’s licenses.

In 2007, Hochul balked at Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s policy while she was serving as clerk of Erie County – which includes Buffalo.

However, when she became governor upon the resignation of Andrew Cuomo, she reversed course.

In November, Hochul indicated she would be the "first one" to call Immigration & Customs Enforcement to help the feds capture migrants or illegal immigrants accused of another crime and "get them out of here."

However, she maintained during her remarks in Queens that she supports helping otherwise law-abiding migrants find work in New York.

Trump’s pick for "border czar," Tom Homan, notably hails from the Watertown area and has condemned his home state’s current policies.

Princeton gender studies program to offer 'sex work,' 'queer spaces' courses

Princeton University's Gender and Sexuality Studies (GSS) program will offer classes on topics like "sex work" and "queer spaces" during its upcoming spring semester, incorporating topics like "erotic dance," "pornography" and more, according to the university's online course listing.

The Ivy League institution will offer five total courses that contain the word "queer" in their course descriptions, according to a Campus Reform report published Tuesday, including "Love: Anthropological Explorations," "Queer Spaces in the World," "Power, Profit and Pleasure: Sex Workers and Sex Work," "Disability and the Politics of Life," and "The Poetics of Memory: Fragility and Liberation."

The university's course dedicated to sex work appears to focus on the stigmatization and controversies surrounding the topic as well as power dynamics and societal expectations.

The program's "queer spaces" course similarly analyzes institutional and historical power dynamics through the lenses of gender-related theories. 

The course description poses questions like "How do sources determine the histories we can tell about architecture, urban space, and the agents that enliven it?

Reading lists of materials that will be incorporated into coursework were included on the webpage containing information for each class.

TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY OFFERS ‘QUEER ART OF DRAG’ COURSE REQUIRING STUDENTS TO CREATE A ‘DRAG PERSONA’

Other universities across the U.S. have similarly offered courses related to queer studies.

The University of Chicago, for example, posed the question "is God queer?" while previewing a "Queering God" course last year. 

Texas Christian University also offered a "Queer Art of Drag" course that asked students to create a "drag persona" last year. 

Fox News Digital reached out to Princeton University for comment on the courses, but did not immediately hear back.

Stephen A Smith, Shannon Sharpe unload on ESPN colleagues after comments made about ‘First Take’

Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe don’t want to hear "First Take" come out of the mouths of two ESPN colleagues. 

Smith and Sharpe both addressed comments made by Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler during their College Football Playoff broadcast on Monday’s edition of the popular sports debate show. 

And while Smith was more polished with his response, Sharpe let it be known that he doesn’t care how many ESPN bosses he has to go through if he hears shots thrown at "First Take" again.

"I’m gonna be a good teammate," Sharpe said to Smith. "I’m gonna let it slide. Everybody’s at ESPN. Because had you not taken the route you’ve taken, I would’ve lit their a--es up. If we’re going to be on the same team, if we’re gonna work for the same network, don’t do that. 

"Kirk, Chris Fowler, I promise you, if you ever mention any platform that I’m on again talking about ‘I wonder what they’re going to say as negativity,’ I promise you, ESPN ain’t got enough bosses to keep me off y’all for what I’m going to say. Don’t play with me."

The comments from Herbstreit and Fowler were about Ohio State Buckeyes head football coach Ryan Day, where Smith accused them of misquoting him about calling for the coach to be fired.

"Stop it," Smith said into the camera during his speech on the matter. "’First Take gotta get him fired,’ that is not true. I did! Not ‘First Take.’ That was me, Stephen A. Don’t misquote me. What I said was, ‘This man Ryan Day, if he doesn’t get a national championship, he should go. Even with a 66-10 record.’ I didn’t stutter one bit, I ain’t stuttering now."

Herbstreit and Fowler were on the call for the Buckeyes’ rout of the Tennessee Volunteers to move on to the next round of the playoffs. 

While Day was leading the team to a dominant victory, Herbstreit brought up the "lunatic fringe" that he feels exists at Ohio State, which came firing at Day after losing for the fourth straight year to Michigan in their rivalry game. 

Then, Herbstreit moved the conversation to "First Take."

"’First Take’ tried to fire him," Herbstreit was heard saying. "They thought he was done. So, I’ll be excited to see what they talk about on Monday after this performance. They had him out. They’re trying to find replacements. But here he is. He’s still got his hat on. He’s still coaching."

At that time, Herbstreit’s comments were interesting, to say the least, considering he was talking about a show within his own network. 

But, as they’ve done in the past with others who have called them out, Smith and Sharpe responded quickly, even if it meant putting their own colleagues on notice.

Suspect accused of burning woman to death on NYC subway is previously deported illegal immigrant

The migrant from Guatemala who was arrested in connection to the heinous death of a woman set on fire and burned to death on a subway train in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday was previously deported.

Sebastin Zapeta, 33, was arrested by Border Patrol on June 1, 2018, after he crossed illegally into Sonoita, Arizona, and was deported by the Trump administration just days later on June 7, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson Marie Ferguson told Fox News.

Ferguson added that Zapeta then re-entered the U.S. illegally "on an unknown date and location."

She added that after Zapeta is charged and details of where he is being held are released, Enforcement and Removal Operations "will lodge an immigration detainer with the NYPD location where he is being held."

So far, no charges have been filed against Zapeta. The Kings County District Attorney's office said in a statement Monday that they "don't have a timeline for that," and "don't anticipate a court appearance today."

Surveillance video showed the suspect calmly approaching the woman, who was sitting motionless and may have been sleeping, while aboard a stationary F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station and then setting her on fire.

The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital inquiry about the victim's identity.

Her clothing "became fully engulfed in a matter of seconds," said New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, describing the case as "one of the most depraved crimes one person could possibly commit against another human being."

The suspect then sat on a nearby bench outside the train car and watched as officers and a transit worker extinguished the flames. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was arrested hours later while riding on the same subway line. Tisch added that the person of interest was found with a lighter in his pocket.

"The depravity of this horrific crime is beyond comprehension, and my office is committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice," the DA's office said. "This gruesome and senseless act of violence against a vulnerable woman will be met with the most serious consequences. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe on our subways, and we will do everything in our power to ensure accountability in this case. I commend the NYPD for their swift work in apprehending the suspect."

Sean 'Diddy' Combs slapped with new $15 million sexual assault lawsuit amid mounting legal woes

Sean "Diddy" Combs is facing a new $15 million sexual assault lawsuit as his legal woes continue to grow.

LaTroya Grayson claimed Diddy sexually assaulted her when she was 23 years old, according to a civil complaint filed Friday and obtained by Fox News Digital. The woman, who resides in Oklahoma, alleged she won an invitation to a party hosted by the rap mogul in 2006.

Grayson attended a "black party" on Oct. 16, 2006, and then woke up at the hospital the next morning, the court document stated. "When [Grayson] returned to her hotel, she called a friend and explained she was not sure what happened to her, but [she] believed she was drugged, assaulted, robbed with no memory of how she arrived at the hospital as her last memory was being at Diddy's Black Party."

The woman had no recollection of anything that happened after she consumed two "premade drinks" at the party.

She claimed when she woke up at the hospital "her shirt was ripped, her underwear was missing, she was not wearing any shoes and the money she had traveled with was stolen."

After returning to Oklahoma, Grayson allegedly received a phone call from an anonymous woman who "threatened [Grayson] telling her that any attempts to pursue anything about [her] assault would be futile because Defendant Combs was a ‘celebrity’ and that [Grayson] would 'just be wasting her time.'"

In the filing, Grayson included hotel receipts along with copies of flight information regarding her travel from Oklahoma to New York City.

A representative for Combs claimed Grayson's allegations are "pure fiction" and never happened.

"Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone or engaged in sex trafficking," the statement provided to Fox News Digital read. "Ms. Grayson admits she has no memory of the events alleged in her complaint, does not know who was supposedly involved, and has never spoken to Mr. Combs. Her allegations against him are pure fiction. As we’ve said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every baseless lawsuit and lawyer-driven money grab. He has faith in the judicial process, in which fact will be separated from opportunistic fabrications like these."

Diddy faces a handful of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault, including one in which he and "Celebrity A" were accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.

Jay-Z was added to the lawsuit against Combs on Dec. 8. The amended complaint named the rap mogul as "Celebrity A."

In the new version of the lawsuit, the 13-year-old became disoriented and found a bedroom to rest in after allegedly consuming one drink. Jay-Z, Diddy and female "Celebrity B" seemingly followed the girl into the room. She "immediately recognized all three celebrities," according to the court document.

Jay-Z allegedly raped the girl, followed by Diddy's alleged rape of the plaintiff, all while "celebrity B" watched, the lawsuit stated. 

The "Empire State of Mind" rapper vehemently denied the allegations in a statement shared on Roc Nation's social media.

"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case," he wrote, in part.

Combs has also denied the allegations against him.

The "I'll Be Missing You" singer remains behind bars at MC Brooklyn as he awaits his federal trial for alleged sex trafficking.

Authorities alleged Diddy ran a criminal enterprise through his businesses, including Bad Boy Entertainment, Combs Enterprises and Combs Global, among others. He used "firearms, threats of violence, coercion and verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse" to fulfill his sexual desires, according to the unsealed indictment obtained by Fox News Digital.

University of Minnesota looking for ‘gender diverse’ kids to play with transgender dolls for research project

The University of Minnesota (UMN) is offering to pay parents of transgender and "gender diverse" children to have their kids play with unconventional dolls, complete with genitals and sex organs.  

"We are looking to hear from transgender and gender diverse children between the ages of 5 and 10 years old and their parents about a new hands-on activity to help talk about gender and bodies," the National Center for Gender Spectrum Health (NCGSH) at UMN wrote on Instagram earlier this year.

"Children and parents will meet a few times in groups with others to play with and give us ideas about the activities," they added.

UMN noted that they will pay between $20 and $60 per group for the study.

Further information on the eligibility screener revealed that families will be asked for feedback on a new therapeutic tool, called MyGender Dolls.

MyGender dolls consist of bodies that vary in age, shape and skin color "so that all kids can see themselves represented and communicate how they see themselves. With over 100 different clothing, accessory and hair options, kids will have a lot of choices for self-expression through this tool," according to the UMN website.

Created by transgender and gender diverse artists, MyGender Dolls are sets of two-dimensional dolls with accompanying internal sex organs and external genitals.

DETRANSITIONERS, PARENTS DEMAND END TO ‘BUTCHERY’ OF CHILDREN THROUGH SEX-CHANGE SURGERIES

The dolls are intended to be used by a "gender competent therapist" who works with young children and adolescents for the purpose of "gender exploration."

NCGSH at UMN held a double match fundraiser for MyGender Dolls. Every dollar donated is said to be matched by two members of the program in the Human Sexuality Leadership Council.

It is unclear if any families signed up for the research project. UMN did not return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
