Dem congressman says Trump should talk about dropping out after debate

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., suggested former President Trump should consider dropping out of the presidential race following his performance in Tuesday night's debate.

Moskowitz issued a statement on Wednesday titled, "Trump’s ability to continue campaign," and it echoed sentiment aimed at President Biden following his clash with Trump earlier this year.

"If we are being honest, last night’s debate performance by former President Donald Trump was disastrous and hard to watch," Moskowitz said.

"I believe now is the time for the former President to have those difficult conversations about whether or not he should continue serving as the Republican Party’s nominee for President," he continued. "For now, I want to give him the space to meet with his family and make that decision."

Polls from the debate show most viewers believe Harris came out on top. A CNN poll of debate watchers had 63% saying Harris won by the end of their 90-minute contest, compared to 37% for Trump.

Nevertheless, Trump's performance has not set off the widespread shock and concern among Republicans that surged through the Democratic Party following Biden's debate performance in July. That concern ultimately forced Biden out of the race, endorsing Harris instead.

Contacted regarding Moskowitz' statement on Wednesday, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung replied, "Moskowitz is a f---ing moron," according to The Hill.

Trump reacted to his performance late Tuesday night on "Hannity," saying he believes it was his "best debate ever," though he lashed out at ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis.

"I thought it was really good. We had three against one, but I anticipated it," he said. 

Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Trump about reports Harris’ campaign wants a second debate in October, and whether he would be open to it. Fox News has extended a formal invitation to both the Trump and Harris campaigns for a second debate next month.

"She wants it because she lost," Trump responded. "I don't know. I have to think about it. But if you won the debate, I sort of think maybe I shouldn't do it. Why should I do another debate? She immediately said we want another debate. That's... you know what happens when you're a prizefighter, and you lose? You immediately want a new fight."

Political analyst accuses ABC of soft treatment on Harris' policy flip-flops: 'Biggest failure' of night

Journalist Mark Halperin accused the media of protecting Vice President Kamala Harris "at all costs" after Tuesday night's high-stakes ABC News Presidential Debate.

"Not only was one news organization fully on board to continue through Election Day protecting her at all costs, but we saw in the coverage of the debate, which was laughably uneven, no recognition that it was laughably uneven. In fact, mostly praise for how great a job ABC did," Halperin said during a livestream on his media platform 2WAY on Wednesday. 

The ABC debate's co-moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis sparked criticism from conservatives after they fact-checked Trump five times during the heated event and failed to correct Harris a single time. The moderators were also accused of letting Harris off the hook on getting her to explain why she shifted her positions on several past progressive policies.

A former ABC News political director, Halperin said the moderators' soft treatment of Harris' policy flip-flops was the "biggest failure of the night."

"Bigger to me, was last night was the best — and if the Harris campaign continues to hide her, maybe only chance — to get her to explain her issue position changes. That to me was the biggest failure," he said.

While Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, have sat down for at least 44 interviews since the Harris-Walz ticket was formed, Harris and her running mate have only sat down for seven non-scripted interviews, with less than two months to go until Election Day.

The debate could've been the only opportunity left for Harris to explain her shifting policy positions, he argued.

"They asked her one question, she didn't answer it, and then they dropped it completely," Halperin said. 

Towards the end of the debate, ABC's Linsey David did bring up Harris' past support for abolishing private healthcare before asking the candidate what her current healthcare proposal was.

Former President Trump's performance was also panned by Halperin as the "worst [presidential] debate performance I've ever seen."

Trump failed to get his message across about Harris being a far-left radical, he argued.

"Last night he demonstrated what most of us thought was the case: He's utterly unable to do it," Halperin said.

Despite what he saw as biased media coverage and a poor performance from Trump, Halperin wasn't convinced the debate would have a big impact on the polls.

"There may be movement, there may not," he said.

Lawyer defending Google in DOJ case prepping Harris for debate is 'conflict of interest,' Jordan investigates

FIRST ON FOX: The House Judiciary Committee is requesting a briefing from the Justice Department on how it is working to combat "potential conflicts of interest and political bias" in its lawsuit against Google, amid reports that the Big Tech giant’s lead attorney is helping prep Vice President Kamala Harris for the debate against former President Donald Trump. 

Fox News Digital obtained a letter House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday morning. 

"The Committee on the Judiciary and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government continue to conduct oversight of how and to what extent the Executive Branch has colluded with companies and other intermediaries to censor lawful speech," Jordan wrote.

Jordan went on to cite a Fox News Digital report that revealed that the lead attorney defending Google in U.S. v. Google LLC, a high-profile antitrust case led by the Justice Department, is simultaneously advising and prepping Harris for the debate against Trump on Tuesday night, hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia.

Karen Dunn, who is Google’s outside counsel through law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, is listed in the lawsuit as a "lead attorney." 

Dunn is also on Harris’ campaign team to prep her for her debate against Trump. Dunn also advised Harris ahead of her 2020 vice presidential debate against then-Vice President Mike Pence. 

The Trump campaign, last month, called out a potential conflict of interest. 

"In light of existing evidence that the Biden-Harris Administration pressured and colluded with Google to censor the lawful speech of American citizens, we write to request a briefing about how the Department of Justice is working to combat potential conflicts of interest and political bias in United States v. Google LLC," Jordan wrote.

"This apparent conflict of interest raises serious concerns about whether Dunn’s relationship with key figures in the Biden-Harris Administration creates a conflict of interest that could inappropriately bias the Department’s approach in United States v. Google LLC," Jordan added. 

Jordan reminded Garland that when he was nominated attorney general, he pledged to "guarantee the independence of the Department from partisan influence." 

"This assertion is hard to square with reporting that Ms. Dunn is leading debate preparations for Vice President Harris while she also leads Google’s defense against a Biden-Harris administration lawsuit," Jordan wrote.

Jordan said that "given this potential conflict of interest," he is requesting a briefing on how the DOJ is working to combat "this and other potential conflicts of interest and political bias" in the Google case. 

Jordan asked that DOJ staff arrange the briefing by Sept. 24. 

Neither the Harris campaign nor Dunn responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment on Dunn's work ahead of the debate. 

The Justice Department confirmed receipt of the letter, but declined to comment on the matter. 

The revelations come after Google came under scrutiny following the assassination attempt against Trump. Google’s autocomplete search results did not initially register the July 13 assassination attempt against Trump. 

Google admitted that it initially blocked and eliminated search prompts for the assassination attempt against Trump, saying they were prohibited by design and part of the company’s policy to prevent search results for "hypothetical political violence against current figures." 

"We do not allow predictions that can be interpreted as accusations against individuals or groups of serious malevolent acts, where there is a lack of well-established or expert supporting evidence," he said.

But, I think the thing that's most exciting to me is I get to get back to NFL football. Being up here in the booth.

A second Trump presidency has the UN fearing for its future, employee caught on camera reveals

A recent undercover video showing a United Nations legal affairs employee saying the world body is scared of a Trump presidency is shining a new spotlight on Trump’s policy toward many of the U.N.’s scandal-plagued agencies.

The U.N. Office of Legal Affairs official was recorded on an undercover video stating, "I’m not sure the United Nations as an institution is going to survive a second term by Trump." The Louder with Crowder podcast conducted the undercover recording and first disclosed it.

While the Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment, as president he was viewed as being very tough on the world body by taking an aggressive posture against U.N. corruption, anti-Americanism and antisemitism while pushing American interests.

Trump stopped funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Fox News Digital reported in August that the U.N. had been forced to fire nine UNRWA employees over likely involvement in the Hamas massacre on October 7 of nearly 1,200 people in southern Israel, including over 30 Americans.

Trump withdrew from the U.N. Human Rights Council; the U.N.’s World Health Organization; the U.N.’s cultural organization UNESCO; and the Paris climate agreement.

A U.S. State Department spokesperson for Trump said at the time the decision "reflects U.S. concerns with mounting arrears at UNESCO, the need for fundamental reform in the organization and continuing anti-Israel bias at UNESCO."

Biden quickly rejoined the U.N. bodies, including the Paris climate deal, that Trump walked away from during his term. However, Biden suspended funds for UNRWA after its role in the Hamas terrorist attack was exposed by Israel.

In 2021, former Trump U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley warned the White House about rejoining the Human Rights Council, because it is influenced by communist totalitarian regimes like China and Cuba, to name just a few.

"If President Biden truly cared about human rights, he would keep us far away from the cesspool that is the U.N. Human Rights Council," said Haley at the time.

A senior Republican Congressional staffer who works on international affairs told Fox News Digital, "There are a list of things that are standard Republican positions now, which will happen immediately after President Trump reenters the White House, along with policies that he pursued in his first term which he will re-implement."

The staffer continued that "First and foremost, they will withdraw the U.S. from participating in the anti-American, antisemitic organizations across the United Nations that the Biden-Harris administration has been engaging and funding. They will also order our diplomats to start pushing back against international policies that undermine our interests, instead of trying to implement them the way the Biden-Harris have been doing."

When asked about the staff member's comment, Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesman for the U.N. Secretary General, referred Fox News Digital to his comments at his recent press briefing. He said, "The gentleman you refer to is not a senior U.N. official. He is a junior staffer.  From looking at the video, his comments were recorded in what seemed to be in a restaurant private setting without his knowledge. He was not speaking on behalf of the Organization in any way, shape or form."

He added, "But I will just state for a fact that this is not–you know, when someone is recorded without their knowledge in a private setting, I don't think any good journalist could interpret it as being the official position of the United Nations."

Anne Bayefsky, president of Human Rights Voices, told Fox News Digital, "So the U.N. gets caught weighing in on the U.S. election vehemently against Trump and the response is, "Who, me?" she added, "Today’s U.N. has forsaken its original purpose and threatens American fundamental rights and freedoms. One side of the American political spectrum tolerates America-bashing and Israel-hating under the guise of a phantom global messiah, and the other side gets it. Of course, the U.N. is afraid that Americans will get it, too."

Bayefsky concluded, "Obviously the U.N. has a mutual love affair with Democrats: Obama went to the Security Council to adopt the far-reaching and catastrophic Iran deal before bothering to ask Congress; Obama-Harris-Biden joined and legitimized the U.N. 'Human Rights' Council – home base for despots and antisemites looking to burnish their human rights credentials while Trump withdrew from it; Obama-Harris-Biden support UNRWA while Trump said no more money for the fake Palestinian U.N. ‘refugee’ agency perpetuating the Arab-Israeli conflict; Obama-Harris-Biden have used the Security Council to bludgeon Israel with resolutions that have never condemned Hamas while Trump repeatedly rejected U.N. ploys to do an end run around American and Israeli sovereignty."

Later this month, the United Nations will host world leaders for the annual General Assembly debate where some of the globe's most despotic regimes will get to address the world body.

Sen. John Fetterman makes prediction for Trump and Harris debate: ‘It's going to be close’

Sen. John Fetterman on Sunday acknowledged that both former President Trump and Vice President Harris can hold their own in a debate, saying that whatever happens during the ABC News Presidential Debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday, "it will be close."

Fetterman, D-Penn., made the remarks during an appearance on CNN’s "State of the Union" while responding to a question about what Harris must do during the debate to win over key voters in battleground state Pennsylvania.

"I also want to just say that it's going to be a straight-up debate," Fetterman said. "She's going to do great, of course, but Donald Trump will be good, too. I mean, we can all remember he wrecked all of the Republicans. He's a good debater. But at the end of the day, I don't believe this debate's going to be definitive because it's going to come down to this choice, and it's going to be close."

Fetterman said Pennsylvania "is always going to be close" in terms of votes during the presidential election, and thinks that the focus of voters will be on "order" versus "chaos."

Heading into what may be the only debate between the two candidates, a new poll finds Trump is maintaining his lead nationally over Harris.

The latest results of the New York Times/Siena poll released on Sunday shows Trump garnering 48% of likely voters compared to 47% who indicated support for Harris.

Trump campaign adviser tears into VP Harris: She can 'run' but she can't 'hide' from Biden's record

Vice President Kamala Harris can run, but she can't hide from her ties to the Biden administration's record, Trump campaign adviser Corey Lewandowski said in a cryptic warning on Sunday.

Speaking to Fox News' Howard Kurtz, Lewandowki railed against Harris' apparent shift in policy positions, including on top issues like border security and fracking and even her more recent move to follow in Trump's footsteps to call for an end to taxing tips for service industry workers.

"She's never been a leader. She should not be promoted. She's continuously changed her position," he said.

"She continuously takes over the Trump agenda on the positions that Donald Trump has, that he's articulated to the American people because she knows that the agenda that she and her boss, Joe Biden, and her running mate Tim Walz, have is so outside of the mainstream that she's unelectable because of it," he added.

Harris previously declared her intention to ban fracking, a position she has since rescinded. She also formerly criticized Trump's tough stance on border security but has since walked back that rhetoric and toughened her own stance.

On the note of moving toward the center, Kurtz pressed Lewandowski on a number of apparent shifts coming from Trump, including his language surrounding abortion and decriminalizing marijuana.

"Those are positions that most of the American people aren't voting on. They're voting on crime. They're voting on national security issues. And most importantly, the No. 1 issue we continue to see is the economy. It's always the case in the question you have to ask yourself: are you better off today than you were four years ago?" he said.

"That relates to the issue of pro-life," he continued. "Donald Trump appointed three pro-life judges that are sitting on the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade, so it goes back to the states. The states now decide, through the elections, what those laws are going to look like. What happens in Kansas and Ohio may be very different than what happens in a state like New York or Arizona."

Democrats continue to insist that the former president, if elected, would push for a national abortion ban despite the Trump campaign touting its role in returning the issue to the states for the people to decide.

The Democratic Party has also made abortion an integral issue in the 2024 race, stressing their support for restoring a national abortion right.
