Democratic rep calls on party to tolerate dissenting ideas on controversial issues

Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., urged the Democratic Party to be more tolerant of dissenting opinions on controversial issues — such as transgender athletes competing in women's sports — during a conversation with Bill Maher on "Real Time" on Friday.

Moulton argued that one of the Democratic Party’s biggest problems is its intolerance of internal dissent, which has led to Republicans winning over the public on hot-button issues.

The Massachusetts representative faced calls for his resignation last November after he challenged the left's stance on transgender athletes in girls' and women's sports during an interview with The New York Times.

"Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face," he said at the time. "I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that."

Maher brought this up during his conversation with Moulton and praised him for speaking out, claiming that Democrats need to stop taking the unpopular side of "80/20" issues.

The late-night host also mentioned that Moulton's campaign manager quit over his statement on transgender athletes and that people like his former campaign manager "are the problem."

"The point is, we can't have disagreements in the party," Moulton claimed. "That was actually the latter half of my juicy quote to the New York Times. I just said, ‘I don’t want my daughter getting run over,' but as a Democrat, I'm not allowed to say that."

He continued, saying, "That's the problem: we can't even discuss these issues. We can't even have a reasonable policy on trans people in sports because we're not allowed to talk about it, and Republicans just run away with the issue, and they're very extreme."

Maher told Moulton that while he appreciates him taking that stance, "it's got to go further than that."

"You have to be able to talk about it, and also, that guy's wrong and you're right! How about that? You're right about this," he asserted. 

Later on in the conversation, the Democratic representative called out his party for slamming Republicans as "weird," while simultaneously requiring members to have their pronouns listed in their email signatures.

"Look, if you want to be trans, go for it. It's a free country, and you can put your pronouns out there, but don't put that on me," Moulton explained.

He reiterated that Democrats need to stop taking the "20" side of "80/20" issues and expect to win over the majority of the country.

"We got to actually be real with the American people — just be honest — and it's okay if you disagree, I'm fine with that," Moulton stated. "But I get to speak as a dad, that's legitimate."

College basketball player shot and killed at Texas pool party, one teen faces murder charge

A Division II basketball player is dead after he was shot in the head at a pool party.

Henderson State's Jamarion Brown was killed last week at the age of 23 in an incident that left two others injured, according to the Camp County Sheriff's Office.

"It is with deep sadness that Henderson State Athletics mourns the death of junior men’s basketball student-athlete Jamarion Brown," the university said in an online statement. "‘Jo’ spent just one season in Arkadelphia, but his impact on our campus was profound."

"No words can express our sadness for Jamarion’s family, friends, and teammates," added head coach Jimmy Elgas. "Jo’s impact was felt not only on the basketball court, but throughout the fabric of Henderson State University, and we all grieve together. His loss leaves a tremendous void on our campus, but Jo will be remembered and honored in our hearts forever."

KLTV reported that authorities responded to a pool party in Camp County in Texas after multiple calls reported a shooting. Henderson was found seriously injured, while the others who were injured had gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening.

A helicopter arrived on the scene, but Brown was too injured to be flown away immediately. He was brought to a nearby hospital, then flown to another in Tyler, where he was pronounced dead.

The Camp County Sheriff's Office arrested Onterrian Jamour Newton, 17, earlier this week in connection to the deadly shooting. He faces a murder charge and other additional pending charges, law enforcement said. 

"He was a shining light to all who knew him, remembered for his warm spirit, deep commitment to family, and passion for basketball," an obituary for Brown read. 

"Basketball was one of Jamarion’s greatest passions, a game he played with heart, discipline, and joy. His other passion was family – the center of his life and the source of his strength. Whether on or off the court, Jamarion’s kindness, determination, and dedication were evident in everything that he did. . . .

"Though his time with us was far too short, Jamarion’s life was filled with purpose and love. He leaves behind countless cherished memories, and a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him."

Brown averaged 6.5 points and 3.6 rebounds this past season. It was his first year with the Reddies after he spent two years at Southwestern Christian College.

Fever coach Stephanie White reveals she was fined over apparent criticism of WNBA officiating

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White didn’t mince words when sharing her thoughts on officiating in the WNBA, which followed Saturday’s game where Caitlin Clark suffered a quad injury that will sideline the star guard for at least two weeks. 

Apparently those strong remarks landed White in some trouble with the league. 

After the Fever suffered a disappointing loss against the Washington Mystics in the team’s first game without Clark, White was asked during the postgame presser whether she believed the league needed to step in to protect top players from "intentionally rough play."

"Obviously, I think we can get better in certain areas as far as how we call the game, consistency with how we call the game. . . . Are we going to say that we want a free-flowing offensive game, or are we going to have tough, grind-out physical games? And whatever way it is, the players will adjust and coaches will adjust but we can’t have it be one way one quarter and another way another quarter."

She continued, "I don’t think collectively as a whole the league has to step in and do something, I just think that there has to be some improvements in certain areas." 

But when pushed further on what those areas might be, White revealed that her previous remarks – likely those on Saturday night – resulted in her receiving a fine.

"Are we trying to get me fined again? Because I did just get fined," she said with a smirk. 

White did not elaborate further, but the fine likely stemmed from her comments following Saturday’s loss to the New York Liberty. 

"I think it’s pretty egregious what’s been happening to us the last four games, you know, a minus-31 free throw discrepancy," White said, adding she believed Clark was fined in the play of the game. "And I might be able to understand it if we were just chucking 3s. But we’re not. We’re attacking the rim and the disrespect right now for our team has been pretty unbelievable."

White said Monday that she was not sure when Clark sustained the injury exactly. 

"Sometimes great players don't tell you when they're hurting," she said. "I'm glad that she did because we need to nip this in the bud."

Chrisleys' attorney calls Trump pardon 'incredibly powerful' as couple prepares for freedom

Nashville, Tenn. - Todd and Julie Chrisley - who have been serving prison time for tax evasion and bank fraud since their 2022 conviction - are preparing to embark on a whole new chapter of their lives, thanks to President Donald Trump's pardon. 

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, the couple's attorney explained how the "incredibly powerful" pardon will wipe the couple's case "entirely," as if it never happened. 

"A pardon like this generally ends the case entirely, and so we'll see the fine print of the pardon explicitly, but generally when you are pardoned, it is wiped away, and so it's wiped clean," the Chrisley's attorney, Alex Little, a partner at Litson PLLC, said. "It's as if the case hasn't happened, and fortunately Todd and Julie will be able to pick up their lives to the best that they're able and go on forward and focus on the future."

"I think that the pardon process is something that hadn't been used by many presidents for many, many terms. And look, however much you may want to criticize that, it's an incredibly powerful tool the President has, and I think it's really important the President began to use it. This was a very deserving case and I hope that he finds more."

Todd and Julie were convicted of federal bank fraud and tax evasion in June 2022. The couple reported to prison on Jan. 17 and were sentenced to 12 and seven years, respectively. Their sentences were later reduced. 

On Tuesday, Trump called the couple's daughter Savannah Chrisley, and son Chase Chrisley, to let them know of his plan to pardon their parents. 

"It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow. Is that OK? We’ll try getting it done tomorrow," Trump told them in a phone call from the Oval Office that was posted onto an X account of a White House aide. The post was captioned in part, "Trump Knows Best!"

Little said both Todd and Julie are "very grateful" to Trump and look forward to moving forward with their lives. 

"As you can imagine, neither one wanted to believe this was likely to happen. It's very difficult to sort of live just day-to-day hoping something like this might happen," said Little. "But now that it has, they're obviously very grateful to the President, and they're very grateful for the opportunity to be able to be a family."

"The next steps right now is just to get the family back together and home," he added. "I think, you know, you have to remember there's a minor child involved. Todd and Julie have a young adult who is very, very ready for mom and dad to be home. And I think that's going to be the focus is, you're taking time to be a family. Todd and Julie haven't seen each other, haven't been in the same room for two and a half years and, you can imagine being separated from your spouse that long. It's an incredibly difficult time."

Savannah has been advocating for their release since the pair went to prison in January 2023 and reached out to Trump for a pardon earlier this year after their conviction was upheld by a three-judge panel last summer. 

"Thank you so much, Mr. President," Savannah could be heard saying on the call. Chase, through tears, added, "I just want to say thank you for bringing my parents back." 

"They were given pretty harsh treatment based on what I’m hearing, pretty harsh treatment," Trump said. "Congratulate your parents, and I hear they're terrific people. This should not have happened." 

After the phone call with Trump, Savannah posted a video on her Instagram saying she got the call from the president that he was signing pardon papers for her parents while she was walking into Sam's Club. 

"So, both of my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow, and I still don't believe it's real!" she exclaimed.

Little said Savannah's advocacy has been incredibly instrumental in Trump's decision. 

"There is no doubt that Savannah's advocacy for her parents played a huge role in getting this across the finish line," he said. "Everybody who's in that situation needs an advocate as dedicated, as relentless as she was, and so you can't thank her enough if you're Todd and Julie."

"I think every parent wishes they had a daughter who is as dedicated as Savannah," he added. "She's taken the last years of her life and not only helped raise her siblings when her parents were missing, but she's dedicated the vast majority of her time to trying to get her parents out of prison. And so that's incredibly admirable."

Illegal immigrant healthcare costs in blue state triggers intense budget debate

The Republican minority leaders in California are responding to potential next steps for the highly scrutinized Medi-Cal program, which is insolvent, as some believe the ability for people to enroll "regardless of their immigration status" is a leading cause. 

The state faces a $12 billion budget shortfall as budget talks continue in Sacramento.

The Medi-Cal program went insolvent earlier this year after it went billions over budget, resulting in $3.44 billion in loan requests to salvage the program, which covers low-income Golden State residents. Republicans said it was in large part due to illegal immigrants being allowed to enroll in the program, and Newsom also said that it was part of the spending issue, but not the whole picture, according to KCRA.

"That’s going to continue to be a big debate here in California as we're wrestling with a $12 billion dollar deficit and the cost of providing free healthcare to illegal immigrants is $11.4 billion dollars, so if we just didn't do that, that would eliminate our budget deficit," California State Senate Minority Leader Brain Jones said. "Now, there's lots of other ways we can find $12 billion dollars to eliminate the deficit as well."

Newsom’s May budget revision proposes a pause for adults 19 and older from enrolling in "full-scope coverage" and to start charging a $100 premium each month "for individuals with certain statuses," Fox News Digital reported earlier this month. 

"To be very clear, these proposals are the results of a $16 billion Trump Slump and higher-than-expected health care utilization. Because of these outside factors, the state must take difficult but necessary steps to ensure fiscal stability and preserve the long-term viability of Medi-Cal for all Californians," Elana Ross, deputy communications director for Newsom's office, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

"Governor Newsom refuses to turn his back on hardworking Californians, especially when it comes to their basic health care needs," she added.

The proposal from the Newsom administration sparked criticism among some in the legislature, as the Democratic California Legislative Latino Caucus is suggesting a tax hike to pay for the program’s coverage for illegal immigrants, according to KCRA. The question remains whether a $100 premium would be enough to get people to leave the program.

However, Jones said that Medi-Cal being offered to illegal immigrants might not be quite what Democrats present it as.

"It's just a messaging point for the governor and the Democratic leadership. It's not an actual thing. Meaning the governor and the Democrat leadership are promising illegal immigrants coverage, and they are on the rolls, but there's very little access," he said.

"A lot of doctors in California that used to provide Medicare and Medicaid have closed up shop, moved to other states. A lot of other doctors that are still here have stopped taking those kinds of patients, even if they're here legally or illegally, because the reimbursement rates are so low, the doctors actually lose money when they take a Medicare or Medicaid patient," Jones continued.

Meanwhile, Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher told Fox News Digital in an interview that the budget shortfall is "a total disaster" that "was completely predictable."

"You know, two years ago, Gavin Newsom and the supermajority Democrats decided to fund illegal immigrant healthcare through our Medi-Cal program. And everybody said it's gonna be billions of dollars. It's not sustainable. And at the time, Biden was president, and people were coming across the border, millions of people. We had no idea. And I think a lot of them came to California and signed up. And so now we have a completely unsustainable, bankrupted Medi-Cal system that's required $3.4 billion worth of loans to prop up."

On a federal level, the pending reconciliation bill that recently passed the House of Representatives could also create issues for the state’s Medi-Cal offerings, as it would change the federal "match" from 90% to 80% for care that is not an emergency, which the Newsom administration says could cost the state billions, The Center Square reported.

"If Republicans move this extreme MAGA proposal forward, millions will lose coverage, hospitals will close, and safety nets could collapse under the weight," Newsom stated last week.

Emmanuel Macron's wife seen shoving him in the face in viral clip as France's first couple arrives in Vietnam

French first lady Brigitte Macron was seen shoving her husband, French President Emmanuel Macron, in the face while the couple was waiting to disembark their plane in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Video of the incident showed a uniformed man opening the plane door as Macron was seen wearing a suit and standing in the doorway. Brigitte Macron's arms – in red sleeves – could be seen reaching out and pushing Macron away, with one hand covering his mouth and part of his nose while the other was on his jaw. The French president turned his head away but suddenly noticed news cameras capturing the moment. He quickly smiled and waved before exiting the door frame.

Macron and his wife later disembarked the stairs of the aircraft together. The French president offered his arm, though the first lady – seen wearing a red blazer – did not take hold of it.

As the clip, recorded by The Associated Press, quickly went viral, Macron said that he and his wife were play-fighting.

The headline of a story on the website of the daily Le Parisien newspaper asked, "Slap or ‘squabble’? The images of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron disembarking in Vietnam trigger a lot of comment."

Macron told reporters that the couple — who met at a French high school where he was a teenage student, and she was a roughly 39-year-old married teacher — were simply joking around. Emmanuel was 29 when he married Brigitte in 2007.

"We are squabbling and, rather, joking with my wife," he said, according to the AP, adding that the incident was being overblown into "a sort of geo-planetary catastrophe."

The French leader argued that the images and reaction to them offered a cautionary tale about disinformation in the social media age.

"Everyone needs to calm down," he said.

Macron's office also downplayed the interaction. 

"It was a moment where the president and his wife were decompressing one last time before the start of the trip by horsing around. It’s a moment of complicity. It was all that was needed to give ammunition to the conspiracy theorists," his office said, according to the AP.

Macron's office also reportedly told CNN that the clip showed a "moment of togetherness," and that the French president and his wife were unwinding after a long trip and playfully teasing each other. 

Macron is touring Southeast Asia this weekend.

WaPo deletes post about confusion on 'where Jews belong' after Israeli embassy staff killings

The Washington Post deleted a controversial X post on Saturday on a story following the killings of two Israeli embassy staffers.

On Friday, the Post’s official X account published a story on the state of Jewish people after Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim were shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night.

"The killings of two Israeli Embassy staffers amplify the confusion felt since the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks about where Jews belong," the account described.

After intense backlash, the Washington Post removed and replaced the post, adding a correction.

"We deleted a previous version of this tweet that lacked the proper context," a new post read.

Fox News Digital reached out to The Washington Post for additional comment.

The controversial line was in reference to a quote from Rabbi Ruth Balinsky Friedman who spoke to the Washington Post about her feelings after the killings.

"’Where do we as a people belong?’ she said. 'Where do I belong?’ And if Jews belong in America, ‘why are people shooting us in broad daylight?’" the article read.

4 arrested for allegedly aiding escaped inmates in New Orleans

Police made four more arrests in connection with a prison break in New Orleans this weekend, Fox News has learned.

The four arrests make a total of 11 people who have been accused of helping the inmates either before, during or after their escape from the New Orleans Jail last week.

The arrests include 18-year-old Patricia Vanburen, 27-year-old Tyshanea "Minnie" Randolph, 47-year-old Lenton Vanburen Sr., and 40-year-old Angel McKey. A source confirmed to Fox News that Vanburen Sr. is the father of one of the escaped inmates, Lenton Vanburen.

Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in New Orleans’ 7th District in hopes to find the fugitive Vanburen, but he was not there.

The four individuals arrested this weekend were accused of specifically assisting the younger Vanburen in evading the police.

The arrests come days after police apprehended another suspect accused of helping inmates on Friday. Police say Emmitt Weber, 28, helped two of the inmates after the jailbreak at the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility.

As of Sunday, five of the 10 escaped inmates remain at large.

The most recent arrest was made when Corey Boyd was taken into custody Tuesday.

The other inmates recaptured are Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis and Gary Price.

Two others — Casey Smith and Cortnie Harris — have been arrested for allegedly aiding the escapees. Another woman, Connie Weeden, 59, allegedly gave cash to Donald via a cellphone app.

She is charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact.

The following fugitives are still at large:

Authorities have reminded the public that these men are considered armed and dangerous.

Podcast host says Jordon Hudson 'choreographed' portion of Bill Belichick's recent interview

One of Bill Belichick's stops among his book tour was on an episode of "The Pivot" podcast with Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder.

Belichick's first interview promoting the book garnered tons of media attention, when Jordon Hudson was caught on camera butting into the conversation when Belichick was asked how they met.

Belichick has credited Hudson, 24, for being the business brainiac to his brand, but he has remained mum on getting any further than that in public interviews.

But that business side of Hudson was all in on Belichick's "Pivot" interview, according to Crowder.

"He’s all in if you talk football, but if you start talking personal stuff, he starts doing the mumble and the one-word answers, and his old lady is different. She lurks," Crowder said on his separate radio show. "It’s weird to know him as Coach Belichick running the entire organization as GM, head coach, talent coordinator, all that stuff, and then to see this tiny little 95-pound girl pretty much telling him what to do."

Crowder added, but did not elaborate on, that Hudson "choreographed the open," which included Belichick's accomplishments as both a coach and author.

"She was there. She kind of coordinates and brand manages. She has her paws on the situation. It’s different . . . it was weird to be around Belichick and Jordon. I don’t see Belichick in that light. But he just smiles and nods," Crowder continued.

Hudson was not at Belichick's interview with "Good Morning America" last week.

According to reports, Hudson interrupted the CBS interview several times and even stormed off at one point, delaying the interview by around 30 minutes. 

Belichick released a statement saying he was "surprised" about getting the questions about his relationship and that when Hudson had stepped in, she had been doing her job. He went on to accuse CBS of creating a "false narrative" with so-called "selectively edited clips."

CBS responded, disagreeing with Belichick’s version of events. 

In the interview with The Pivot, Belichick cleared the air on Hudson's reported involvement with "Hard Knocks," ultimately saying that the show was not a match with UNC. He also reiterated that Hudson is not involved with UNC football, a statement that the school itself made following reports that Hudson was barred from the facility.

Ilhan Omar refuses to answer reporter questions on fatal shooting of Israeli Embassy workers

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., avoided answering questions from reporters regarding the shooting in Washington, D.C., that killed two Israeli Embassy staffers departing the Capital Jewish Museum Wednesday evening. 

"I’m going to go for now," Omar, the first Somali American elected to Congress, told reporters Thursday when asked if she would react to the shooting. 

A spokesperson for Omar did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Later, Omar said she was "appalled" by the shooting and said that violence is not welcome in the U.S.  

"I am appalled by the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum last night," Omar said in a post on X on Thursday. "Holding the victims, their families, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers.  Violence should have no place in our country."

Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were departing an event at the museum Wednesday evening when they were gunned down and killed. The two were planning to get engaged soon, according to the Embassy of Israel.

A pro-Palestinian man, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, was arrested in connection with the case, according to authorities. 

Omar, one of the first two Muslim women in Congress, has been a vocal advocate for the Palestinian cause. She has come under scrutiny for comments toward the Jewish community, including when she appeared at a Columbia University encampment in April 2024 and said that all Jewish kids should remain safe "whether they’re pro-genocide or anti-genocide."

Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, was also arrested during a pro-Palestinian protest at Columbia University that same month. 

Lischinsky, born in Israel, grew up in Germany. While his father is Jewish, his mother is a Christian, and the family is considered Christian. Milgrim was an American employee working for the Israeli Embassy.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms the murder of two staff members from the Embassy of Israel in Washington, DC," Rubio wrote Thursday on X. "Our prayers are with their loved ones. This was a brazen act of cowardly, antisemitic violence. Make no mistake: we will track down those responsible and bring them to justice."

Teen engineering student dies after 'intentional' gunfire penetrates floor during party

A Michigan college student was killed in an "intentional" shooting when multiple gunshots were fired along the floor during a house party, police said.

Connor Lotterman, 19, was struck in the head by a bullet recklessly fired by an unidentified 20-year-old suspect on May 9 at approximately 11:11 p.m., Ottowa County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Fox News Digital.

"The shooting was quite intentional," Ottowa County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jake Sparks told WOOD-TV. "Multiple rounds were fired. It wasn’t like as if it were a one-shot accidental discharge. This was numerous rounds discharged. Although the result of the shooting led to an accidental death, this shooting was intentional."

TWO TEENS KILLED IN MASS SHOOTING AT WASHINGTON STATE HOUSE PARTY, SEVERAL OTHERS WOUNDED: POLICE

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department revealed that the 20-year-old male suspect obtained a firearm that was located in the residence. The male suspect then fired multiple rounds through the floor of an upstairs bedroom, police said. The bullets penetrated the floor and one struck Lotterman in the head.

Lotterman, an engineering student at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), was transported to the local hospital in critical condition. 

Dr. Stephen Cohle, the Kent County medical examiner, confirmed to Fox News Digital that the manner of death was accidental, caused by a gunshot wound to the head.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident, police said.

All individuals involved in the incident were known to each other, police said.

Investigators are working with the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for a review of any potential criminal charges against the 20-year-old male. Police said his name would not be released at this time.

Lotterman was the youngest of five, according to an online obituary. His older sister mourned him in a birthday message posted on Instagram.

"Thank you for being the best little brother a girl could ask for," Marielle Lotterman wrote. "I am so thankful to God for the 20 amazing years you had on this earth. What a day that will be when we all unite in heaven."

Aaron Haight, GVSU dean of students, told Fox News Digital that the college community is "saddened by Connor's tragic death."

NASCAR Truck Series star laments opponent's 'scum racing' after spinning out on final lap

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro Speedway ended in controversy on Saturday as Corey Heim spun out while racing Layne Riggs on the final lap.

Heim and Riggs raced hard in overtime. Heim was leading with Riggs on his bumper as they took the white flag. Heim claimed the high line as Riggs went low. Heim slid up the track and Riggs was right on his door as they went down the backstretch.

As the came around Turn 2, Heim spun out. Chandler Smith was able to maneuver around Riggs and took home the victory. Riggs finished in second place.

Heim delivered a message to Riggs after the race.

"Calm down or else I'm going to take care of you," he said.

Needless to say, Heim was upset with how Riggs raced him and confronted him about it once everyone was back on pit road. Heim called Riggs’ decision on the final lap "scum racing."

"Just why? More than anything. He tried to do it to the 7 (Carson Hocevar) last week for the win, and mission accomplished for him," Heim said, via NASCAR.com. "I guess, this week – and it cost him one, too. I don’t know. We’ve given up so many of them this year after dominating the race. The 38 (Smith) was the only other guy that was rightfully good.

"If I have a reputation of going for wins, I’m not going to regret that at all," Riggs said. "You know, I feel like I came from short-track racing, last-lap battles, and feel like that’s what this kind of racing is made for. I feel like it’s not like we’ve seen at Martinsville in the past, and gotten upset. I feel like it was a strong move, and I thought it was going to pay off. 

"But sadly, didn’t get the win."

Heim finished the race in 17th.

Heim still leads the drivers standings with 450 points – 47 more than Smith. Riggs moved up to eighth in the standings.

Bill Maher tells Americans to stop pretending they have 'core convictions' and 'deeply held beliefs'

HBO host Bill Maher urged Americans to "get over the fantasy" that they are people of "core convictions and deeply held beliefs" on an episode of "Real Time" Friday night.

Maher criticized Americans for flip-flopping on their beliefs, saying they base their values on what's popular with their political party. 

"They only care which side is saying something," he said, citing electric vehicles (EVs) as an example.

"This car used to be 'fire.' Now it's on fire," Maher said while showing footage of Teslas being burned at a dealership.

"Conversely, MAGA Nation used to hate EVs two years ago," he added. "Seventy-one percent of Republicans said they would not consider buying an electric car. Trump said they were for, quote, ‘radical left fascists, Marxists and communists.’ Now he's selling them on the White House lawn."

The "Real Time" host then turned his focus to an issue on which he felt Democrats had changed their stance on due to politics: keeping kids in school.

He referenced "An Abundance of Caution," a book by David Zweig, which detailed the detrimental effects closing schools had on children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Here's the author's takeaway line: 'The Academy of Pediatrics were very strongly in favor of getting kids into schools, but as soon as Trump came out in favor of reopening, they completely reversed their position," he quoted.

Maher followed up with a tongue-in-cheek remark: "Hey, if you find yourself suddenly hating something you loved five minutes ago or vice versa, ask your doctor if ivermectin is right for you."

Staying on the topic of health, Maher criticized conservatives for supposedly switching their stance on public health over the last few years because of politics.

"Do people really want to put politics ahead of their very health?" he asked. "Let me answer that — Yes.  I know they do, because when Michelle Obama adopted as her first lady project to get America healthy again, Republicans went buck wild apes--- real housewives throw drinks in your face crazy against it because it was Michelle Obama who said it."

He recalled conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh mocking the initiative by asking if Americans were "supposed to eat roots and berries and tree bark."

But according to Maher, conservatives' views on public health completely shifted once U.S. Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was appointed to his new cabinet position.

"But now that Robert Kennedy, leader of the Make America Healthy Again movement, is in the Trump administration, tree bark good, f--- yeah make America healthy," he quipped. "Finally, somebody said it. And when I say somebody, I mean not a Black, liberal lady."

Maher closed the segment by urging Americans to stop reflexively supporting or opposing positions based solely on who supports them.

"But until we get to where we can do that," he joked, "I just hope the Democrats come out strongly next week for dictatorship, coal mining, and making pot illegal."

Blind mother of 5 graduates from college with honors alongside her guide dog

When a Tennessee mother of five received her college degree on May 9, she couldn’t see her family cheering in the audience – because she is completely blind.

Even so, as Amanda Juetten, 47, crossed the stage to accept her degree – magna cum laude – from Tennessee Tech University, she was more certain than ever about her path forward.

"I’m totally blind," Juetten told Fox News Digital in an interview. "So I’ve got my guide dog by my side."

"The two guys I was sitting by told me to follow them — we were a team. I’m concentrating on shaking all the hands and getting across the stage. I was thinking, ‘This isn’t the end. It’s really the beginning of what’s next.’"

Juetten, who recently became a grandmother, began her college journey nearly 30 years ago, but had to postpone her studies when she had a baby right out of high school — and immediately went to work to provide for her new family.

She eventually returned to higher education, but in 2020, after years of progressive vision loss from a condition called retinitis pigmentosa, she found herself in the dark — literally.

"I was left totally blind with no skills for blindness," Juetten said. "Over the years, I had been taught a lot of skills for using my remaining vision, but not what to do with no vision at all.’"

GIRL DESPERATE TO SEE THE WORLD BEFORE SHE GOES COMPLETELY BLIND

Determined to regain her independence, she enrolled in an eight-month program at the Colorado Center for the Blind.

"I thought, ‘I know blind parents make their kids’ lunches. I know blind parents go to PTA meetings. I can do this. I just need to be around a bunch of other blind people,’" she recalled.

"Blind people are not sitting in their basements waiting for the end. They’re out there living their lives, and I wanted to do that, too."

With her new skills and adaptive techniques — and a renewed sense of confidence — Juetten enrolled at Tennessee Tech in the fall of 2022, pursuing a professional studies degree with a concentration in organizational leadership.

"It’s been great," Juetten said. "The instructors were asking, ‘What are your needs? How can I make this accessible to you?’ They have been fantastic for doing that. I never got pushback. I didn’t get people saying, ‘Why are you taking these classes?’"

Now, the newly graduated Juetten is advocating for more acceptance and understanding of the blind.

"The blind need a voice," Juetten said. "I have a voice and I love to use it. I want to help give people the skills to find their voice. We need more teachers and more people in the field who believe in the full capacity of the blind."

Next, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in blindness rehabilitation and possibly even a doctorate.

"I want to begin offering services in assistive technology, Braille and the things I’ve learned and am doing well," Juetten said. "I want to teach blind people as a vendor of vocational rehabilitation."

Juetten has traveled to Washington, D.C., to lobby for blindness-related initiatives and to San Francisco to protest rideshare drivers who deny service to passengers with wheelchairs or service animals.

She also serves on the board of the National Federation of the Blind of Tennessee and is a past president of the Tennessee Association of Guide Dog Users. 

Her guide dog, Colonel, is always by her side.

McIlroy brushed it off when he talked to reporters on Wednesday.

"I don’t know what he was expecting," he said. "I mean, we’re trying to win the Masters. I’m not gonna try to be his best mate right there.

"Look, everyone approaches the game in different ways. And yeah, I was focused on myself and what I needed to do and that’s really all that it was. It wasn’t anything against him. I felt like that’s what I needed to do to try to get the best out of myself that day."

DeChambeau said last month that McIlroy appeared to be in the zone.

Despite a blunder-filled day, McIlroy completed the career slam with his first win at Augusta National after defeating Justin Rose in a one-hole playoff on 18 after Rose missed a 15-foot putt for birdie. 

McIlroy will now look for a third PGA Championship title. He won in 2012 and 2014.

Shedeur Sanders 'truly thankful' for Donald Trump's support during historic NFL Draft slide

As Shedeur Sanders continued his unprecedented fall in the NFL Draft last month, President Donald Trump took to social media to voice his support for the quarterback.

"I was truly thankful. I was truly thankful for it," Sanders, 23, told reporters Saturday. 

"Including him there is a lot of fans, a lot of people in barbershops, a lot of hairstylists, a lot of fans of me and of my craft and of my family that was there to support. I was just thankful that I have that foundation overall. As people, we could all come together as one."

Trump took to Truth Social to express his frustration with the former Colorado star not being selected before the second round began.

"What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness," Trump wrote.

The Cleveland Browns selected Sanders with the 144th overall pick in the fifth round, and Sanders will compete for the starting quarterback job.

Sanders is one of five quarterbacks on the roster, and the team does not have a clear starter. Deshaun Watson ruptured an Achilles tendon in January for a second time after he underwent surgery on that same tendon in October 2024. His status for the upcoming season is in doubt. 

The Browns acquired Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles and signed Joe Flacco to a one-year contract before the NFL Draft. With the additions of third-round pick Dillon Gabriel and Sanders to an already packed quarterback room, it remains to be seen who will get the Week 1 nod. 

Sanders and Gabriel took the field for the first time as members of the Browns during the team’s first rookie minicamp Friday.

Zach Bryan calls out fellow country singer, takes down duet after being mocked for $350 million record deal

Zach Bryan is taking a stand against a critic.

The "Something in the Orange" singer took to Instagram Friday to call out another singer-songwriter, John Moreland, for a subtle dig he seemingly made about him on his own account.

"$350 M is a lot to pay for the f---in off-brand version of me," Moreland wrote to his Instagram story. "Y'all have a great day."

Variety reported earlier this week that Bryan had made a new deal with his label, Warner Records, to extend his contract to include at least two more albums. The outlet claimed that he has also either sold or is currently in the process of selling his publishing catalog, and that together, the two deals total $350 million.

Bryan, who wrote and recorded a duet with Moreland called "Memphis; The Blues" on his 2024 album "The Great American Bar Scene," shared a screenshot of Moreland's comment and added a response of his own.

"Yooo just saw this from an artist I've always respected and supported," he wrote. "Not trying to be dramatic but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records. Replacing Memphis the Blues. If it goes down for a bit just know this is the reason!"

He added, "No hard feelings! Confused as s---, Tulsans look out for Tulsans!"

In another post, Bryan said that his message would be the last he commented on the matter, explaining, "Not partial to arguing with butt hurt grown men."

"Memphis; The Blues" is currently unavailable on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, though Bryan has assured his fans that this is only temporary.

"Gonna re-release it btw!!!" he wrote in another Instagram post. "All is well!! All is well."

Moreland did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

This isn't Bryan's first time posting about another artist on social media. Last year, the singer deactivated his X account after making a comment about Taylor Swift.

"Eagles > chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who's with me," he tweeted before deleting the message and later shutting down the account. He then explained his line of thinking in a series of posts on his Instagram story.

"For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night," Bryan wrote on top of a screengrab of Swift’s song with Post Malone, "Fortnight," on Instagram. "I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong."

The "Heading South" singer acknowledged the longtime feud between Swift and West, as he continued to explain, "I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often."

Bryan, 28, added that he hoped one day to explain to Swift about his controversial social media post. He additionally apologized to Swifties and detailed why he had deactivated his X account.

"Twitter gets me in trouble too much and I’d say it’s best I stay off it," he penned. "I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down. Love you guys and I’m trying my best!"

High school lacrosse player, 16, dies of injuries sustained during game

A high school lacrosse player from Ohio died this week at the age of 16 after a freak accident during a game.

Dylan Veselic, a sophomore at Bay Village High School, died Thursday after taking a ball to the head two days prior.

Veselic was injured after a shot from an opponent struck the back of his head underneath his helmet. He underwent surgery on Wednesday, but it was not enough.

"We are deeply touched by the overwhelming support and kindness shown by our community and beyond. We ask that you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," the family said in a statement.

"Dylan was a dedicated student and athlete, and we are heartbroken by this loss," Bay Village Schools Superintendent Scot Prebles said in a statement, via Cleveland.com. "Counseling services are available at Bay High School for students, staff and family who need support."

A fundraiser in honor of Veselic has raised over $80,000; its goal was just $500.

Those in the community have left both lacrosse and hockey sticks and soccer balls on their porches and lawns in support.

"Dylan was an amazing student, always wearing a smile on his face while supporting his fellow teammates," added Bay Village athletic director Matt Spellman said.

Veselic was listed as a captain of the team on MaxPreps.

This was his second season on varsity, playing for the varsity team as a freshman, as well. He played in 25 high school games.

The team canceled a game on Thursday, the day he died, for a prayer service. Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday.

USA Fencing clarifies chairman's photo which caused frenzy before hearing

USA Fencing chairman Damien Lehfeldt clarified a photo posted on his private Instagram account on Wednesday, showing that he was holding up two fingers.

Lehfeldt’s initial photo appeared to show him holding up a middle finger ahead of a hearing in front of Congressional lawmakers on keeping men out of women’s sports. The photo showed his other finger cropped out of the photo.

A caption, which read "game day," was placed on the top of the photo.

USA Fencing shared the full uncropped photo from Lehfeldt with Fox News Digital.

The hearing comes weeks after fencer Stephanie Turner knelt in protest of a transgender opponent at an event. It sparked outrage against the organization, and it led Turner to step away from the sport altogether.

The organization said last month it was preparing to amend its current policies that allow biological males to compete with women and girls in the event that it is "forced" to change them. 

"In the event that USA Fencing is forced to change its current stance in accordance with oversight bodies or federal legislation, the new policy states athletes competing in USA Fencing-sanctioned tournaments must compete according to their biological sex," the announcement read.

WOMEN'S SWIMMERS SPEAK OUT AFTER UNKNOWINGLY FACING TRANS COMPETITOR, FILING COMPLAINT: 'I FEEL BETRAYED'

The proposed updated policy ensures that women's category "will be open exclusively to athletes of the female sex." The men's category "will be open to all other athletes who are otherwise eligible for competition."

The change would go into effect across sanctioned competition levels, including Division I, IA, II, III, Junior, Cadet, Youth, Veteran and all other categories. 

"If adopted, this policy is solely to ensure future compliance required by oversight organizations. This policy does not reflect any change in our strong support for each individual's right to identity," the announcement read. 

"We recognize that many people — particularly transgender and non-binary athletes and their supporters in fencing clubs nationwide — will be profoundly impacted if this policy takes effect."

Turner is expected to be a witness in the hearing along with Payton McNabb, the former volleyball who suffered catastrophic injuries as a result of a spike from a transgender athlete.
