Corporation for Public Broadcasting sues Trump to prevent termination of board members

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) sued President Donald Trump on Tuesday in order to prevent the termination of three board members.

The CPB helps fund public media corporations such as NPR and PBS, which the Trump administration has targeted as it seeks to cut back on spending. Trump sought to remove three of the five CPB board members from their positions, but the corporation responded with a lawsuit arguing that the president lacks authority to remove board members. 

Trent Morse, the deputy White House director of presidential personnel for the executive office of the president, sent an email on Monday informing three CPB board members they were "terminated effective immediately."

The CPB responded with a lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. It names Morse, along with Trump and other administration officials, as defendants. 

The complaint repeatedly emphasizes CPB's independence, as established by the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967. The CPB is asking the court to declare Morse’s email "is of no legal effect because the President does not have the authority to take such an action," and award CPB costs and legal fees along with other relief deemed just and proper. 

Trump remains confident he will prevail. 

"As numerous courts have repeatedly affirmed, the Constitution gives President Trump the power to remove personnel who exercise his executive authority. The Trump Administration looks forward to ultimate victory on the issue," a White House spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

CPB board members are appointed by the president and receive six-year terms. The lawsuit noted that the Public Broadcasting Act doesn’t mention that the president can remove board members and omits the "typical statutory provision when creating a federal agency that the Board members serve at the pleasure of the President."

Trump is attempting to remove Biden-appointed board members Tom Rothman and Diane Kaplan, along with Laura Gore Ross, who was appointed by Trump in 2018.

"Congress conceived CPB as a vehicle for infusing federal money into public broadcasting without the introduction of government direction or control, with Congress reserving for itself the oversight responsibility for the CPB by, among other things, controlling the appropriations for CPB and public broadcasting. Moreover, Congress protected the CPB from the executive branch by withholding from CPB any form, pure or quasi, of legislative, judicial, or regulatory power," the lawsuit stated. 

"Indeed, in the course of its business, CPB has no ability to regulate any aspect of public media, resolve disputes among stations, dictate content of public media stations, or render any form of judgment over any other entity or organization," the complaint continued. "CPB does not, and cannot, infringe on or aid the executive branch’s ability to carry out or implement the laws."

Some states see REAL ID crowd rush, others quiet as deadline looms

Some states are seeing massive lines at Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations as travelers scramble to get their REAL IDs prior to the May 7 deadline. Others, not so much.

FOX News Multimedia Reporter Asher Redd was live outside a DMV in Antioch, Tennessee, on FOX 35 Orlando Monday morning, where a line of about 200 people stood behind him. 

Redd said states like Illinois, Pennsylvania and Tennessee have some of the longest lines and appointment wait lists through at least July. There in Tennessee, he reported some DMVs are open six days a week in hopes of getting everyone the identification travelers from U.S. airports and those entering some federal buildings will need.  

California is in a similar boat, FOX 11 Los Angeles reported, where some offices are opening an hour early through June 27 for those who started the process online and made appointments.

Meanwhile, Florida is not seeing the same rush. Some people who live in the Sunshine State can skip DMVs altogether, and get their drivers' licenses at the local tax collector's offices.

"We are fortunate in Florida since amendment 10, the local tax collectors in the state have done a phenomenal job to ensure the citizens have gotten their Real ID compliance completed," a spokesperson for the Seminole County Tax Collector's Office told Fox News Digital via email.

"Here in Seminole County there are only about 4000 people that have yet to complete it, which is less than 1% of the population," the statement said. 

Instead of heading to the DMV, the founder of passport and Visa services ItsEasy.com recommends obtaining a passport card.

"The last-minute rush to obtain a REAL ID Driver's License is leading to long delays at the DMV and causing unnecessary stress amongst travelers," David Alwadish said in a statement. "The credit-card sized, U.S. passport card is a convenient, secure and affordable alternative."

"For added security, I love that, unlike a DMV-issued ID, it does not have your address on it for strangers to know where you live," Aldawish added.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) continues reminding Americans "that starting Wednesday, May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need to have a REAL ID-compliant state-issued driver’s license, instruction permit or identification card or another acceptable form of ID to board a U.S. commercial aircraft," according to media releases.

REAL IDs have a star in the upper right-hand corner, TSA said. 

Once enforcement begins, the TSA said unprepared travelers arriving at TSA checkpoints should expect delays.

PepsiCo to remove artificial ingredients from popular food items by end of 2025

Heeding the call to ban artificial ingredients by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., PepsiCo isn't wasting any time getting started. 

Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo Inc. chair and chief executive officer, said in an April 24 conference call that the company will reduce artificial ingredients and has already begun doing so, as Food Business News reported.

"We've been leading the transformation of the industry now for a long time on sodium reduction, sugar reduction and better fats," Laguarta said.

"Sixty percent-plus of our (portfolio) today doesn't have any artificial colors," he said — and the company is "undergoing that transition."

Laguarta cited examples such as Lay's and Tostitos, which "will be out of artificial colors by the end of this year."

He added, "So, we're well underway."

RFK Jr. and Dr. Martin Makary, U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner, announced a ban on petroleum-based synthetic dyes from America's food supply last Tuesday.

As the HHS noted in its news release, among the steps to be taken are "establishing a national standard and timeline for the food industry to transition from petrochemical-based dyes to natural alternatives."

Certified nutritionist and "Make America Healthy Again" supporter Liana Werner-Gray told Fox News Digital, "This is a huge win for public health and long overdue."

Werner-Gray is the author "The Earth Diet," which began as a blog about what she ate to help promote healing and remedy her health problems after she was diagnosed with cancer.

She would suffer from frequent major mood swings, anxiety, skin breakouts and energy crashes, as well as strong impulsive urges to eat processed food, she said.

"Once I removed these dyes and switched to natural, whole-food-based alternatives, those symptoms went away, too," Werner-Gray said, adding that her clients have reported similar outcomes.

In Werner-Gray's opinion, the manipulation of food has gone on far too long, she said.

"This move by the FDA under Secretary Kennedy and Commissioner Makary's leadership is a pivotal step toward restoring integrity in our food system," she said.

In the April 24 conference call, PepsiCo's CEO noted that its chips, puffs and other snacks are safe to consume and that the company stands by the existing science, according to reports.

"Every consumer will have the opportunity to choose what they prefer," said Laguarta.

Thousands march in Dublin against Ireland's mass migration policies as McGregor pursues presidential bid

Thousands of people participated in a march against Ireland's mass migration policies in the country's capital of Dublin on Saturday. 

UFC champion Conor McGregor – who is considering a potential presidential bid in his native Ireland – posted a video message beforehand from Dublin's Garden of Remembrance, where the march began hours later. 

"Hello everyone in Ireland. April 26th, 2025 - A big day here for our country. "A historic month for Ireland since 1916," McGregor said, referring to the recent anniversary of the Easter Rising against British rule. 

"Over 100 years ago, our brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live free today. So let us remind ourselves why we are here. And also why we are not here," McGregor said. "We are not here to build hatred amongst each other. We are not here to sow division. We are here to commemorate the valiant heroes who went before us. We honor their spirit, we honor their fight."

McGregor said the protest would be intended "to shine our light on the failure of Ireland's government and our full disapproval of it."

"Speak with dignity - we want to hear your voice. Together we rise, together we win," he added. "God bless us all. God bless Ireland."

The large-scale demonstration kicked off on Saturday afternoon in the garden, as crowds carrying tri-color flags headed down O'Connell Street. 

Some protesters carried placards reading "Irish Lives Matter" and "Ireland is Full," and many wore green hats with the message "Make Ireland Great Again." 

Irish police, known as gardaí, showed a heightened presence in the capital, maintaining a cordoned-off line between the marchers and a smaller group of counter-protesters who gathered in front of the General Post Office (GPO). 

"Over 106,000 Irish men, women and children attended yesterday’s rally," McGregor wrote on X Sunday, sharing aerial photos of protesters waving tri-color flags. "Not one social order incident to report. Tremendous! Onward for Ireland!"

Police later said "no major incidents" happened Saturday, though three people had been arrested for "public order offenses," according to the Irish public broadcaster RTE. Police declined to provide additional information. 

The counter-protest was organized by United Against Racism and was backed by members of opposition parties including Sinn Féin, Labor, People Before Profit, the Social Democrats, the Socialist Party and the Green Party, according to The Irish Times.

They held banners that read, "Boycott Apartheid Israel" and "Dublin Stands Against Racism," according to photos from the scene. 

McGregor first announced his interest in running for president of Ireland after meeting with President Donald Trump on St. Patrick's Day, though the fighter has suggested the country's nomination process is stacked against outsiders like himself. 

Those who spoke at the march included Dublin City councilors Gavin Pepper, Philip Sutcliffe and Malachy Steenson and Fingal councilor Patrick Quinlan, according to Breakingnews.ie.

"The fact of the matter is we’re bringing in thousands and thousands of people and putting them up in hotels while our own people are being left to rot… We’ve had enough of this in Ireland," Pepper said to a cheering Dublin crowd, according to a video shared on X. "Irish people come first in our own country. It’s time for mass deportation. The traitors of Sinn Féin do not care." 

The prime minister of Ireland, who holds the title of taoiseach, Micheál Martin, told reporters on Sunday that he did not "accept the negativity from those who spoke yesterday in respect of where modern Ireland is today," according to a video shared online by Susanne Delaney, a contributor to the anti-globalist outlet Irish Inquiry. 

"The level of opportunity in modern Ireland today again is far in excess of anything previous generations experienced in terms of educational completion and so on," Martin, who also met with Trump in the Oval Office earlier in March, said. "The big social issue of our day is housing, but we're focused on solutions to that and less so on the rhetoric of it." 

Asked about the growing size of the "Irish nationalist" movement, Martin said the "ballot box is the key metric, the key determinant of the organization of society, who gets elected into government, who gets elected into local councils." 

"And I think it has to be based on ideas and policies," he said. "We believe we have a stronger set of ideas than perhaps those who articulated yesterday."

COVID crackdown: Republicans seek to defund universities still requiring vaccine

FIRST ON FOX: Lawmakers will put forward a bill Monday to put the force of law behind President Donald Trump's executive order prohibiting federal funds from going to colleges that still mandate a coronavirus vaccine jab.

Reps. Mark Messmer, R-Ind., and August Pfluger, R-Texas, will file the No Vaccine Mandates in Higher Education Act, chiefly noting that former President Joe Biden ended the official national emergency for COVID-19 in April 2023.

In comments to Fox News Digital, Pfluger said the pandemic "opened Pandora’s Box to a lengthy list of overreaching policies and mandates from the government, institutions, and companies alike."

"As we work to restore common sense and liberties back to the American people, I am proud to co-lead this legislation to ensure universities can no longer force their students to have the COVID-19 vaccine," he said.

The bill reads that "no federal funds may be made available to any institution of higher education that requires its students or staff to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of enrollment or employment, or receiving any benefit, service, or contract."

In February, Trump wrote critically that some institutions are "conditioning their education" based on undergoing the COVID jab.

"Parents and young adults should be empowered with accurate data regarding the remote risks of serious illness associated with COVID-19 for children and young adults, as well as how those risks can be mitigated through various measures, and left free to make their own decisions accordingly," Trump wrote in his order.

"Given the incredibly low risk of serious COVID-19 illness for children and young adults, threatening to shut them out of an education is an intolerable infringement on personal freedom. Such mandates usurp parental authority and burden students of many faiths."

By Monday afternoon, the bill had garnered several more co-sponsors including Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., Stephanie Bice, R-Okla., Barry Moore, R-Ala., Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., Andrew Clyde, R-Ga. and John Rose, R-Tenn.

A February survey by Best Colleges listed 15 schools nationwide, particularly in California, Georgia and Pennsylvania, still had their COVID vaccine requirements intact.

During the federal coronavirus emergency, some universities, including Columbia in New York City, required not only the COVID-19 vaccine, but the ensuing boosters as well for at least some portions of their student population.

In Columbia's case, proof of booster doses were required for study-abroad students, according to a 2022 notice from the Ivy League institution.

Princeton University in New Jersey required boosters for its 2022 on-campus semester.

"Compliance with the vaccine policy is necessary to maintain prox access to campus facilities and to continue student progress to degree," a statement from that semester read.

Weekly PCR testing for COVID-19 was also mandatory for a time at Cornell University in upstate New York.

Black Hawk pilot failed to heed flight instructor in moments before plane collision over DC: report

The pilot of the military Black Hawk helicopter that collided with a passenger airplane over Washington, D.C., in January ignored instructions to change course seconds before the crash, according to a new report.

The report, published by the New York Times on Sunday, detailed the Black Hawk's exchanges with air traffic controllers in the lead-up to the disaster, which left 67 people dead.

According to the report, the Black Hawk pilot, Capt. Rebecca Lobach, was conducting her annual flight evaluation and her co-pilot, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Loyd Eaves, was serving as her flight instructor.

When air traffic controllers informed the Black Hawk that there was an airliner nearby, Lobach and Eaves acknowledged the message and requested to fly by "visual separation," a common practice that allows aircraft to avoid collisions based on their own observations rather than following instructions from air traffic control.

"The Black Hawk was 15 seconds away from crossing paths with the jet. Warrant Officer Eaves then turned his attention to Captain Lobach. He told her he believed that air traffic control wanted them to turn left, toward the east river bank," the Times wrote.

"Turning left would have opened up more space between the helicopter and Flight 5342, which was heading for Runway 33 at an altitude of roughly 300 feet. She did not turn left," the report said.

The crash instantly caused national scrutiny on air traffic control policies, with Transportation Sec. Sean Duffy opening an investigation.

Duffy announced plans in March to bolster airport air traffic control systems with the latest technology over the next four years, while also using artificial intelligence (AI) to identify "hot spots" where close encounters between aircraft occur frequently.

There have been 85 near-misses or close calls at Reagan National, according to a report from the National Travel Safety Board (NTSB). Close calls were identified as incidents when there are less than 200 feet of vertical separation and 1,500 feet of lateral separation between aircraft.

"We’re having near-misses, and if we don’t change our way, we’re going to lose lives," Duffy told reporters at the time. "That wasn’t done. Maybe there was a focus on something other than safety, but in this administration, we are focusing on safety."

Browns select Shedeur Sanders on final day after shocking NFL Draft drop

It's better late than never. 

Shedeur Sanders had to wait until Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft, but the Cleveland Browns finally called his name with the 144th overall pick in the draft's fifth round on Saturday.

The first round of the draft did not go how Sanders envisioned, as he did not hear his name get called. But no one expected the same to occur on Friday night, as three more quarterbacks were taken before him.

After Cam Ward went No. 1, the freefall truly began when the New Orleans Saints opted to go with Kelvin Banks Jr. with the ninth selection.

All eyes were on the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21 in the first round, but as no one traded up in front of them, their selection also came and went without a QB, opting for Derrick Harmon.

The New York Giants traded back into the first round, but they opted for Jaxson Dart instead, effectively ending any chance Sanders would be a first-rounder. 

Then, Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, and Dillon Gabriel were selected on Friday.

But Gabriel, who the Browns selected in the third round, is now Sanders' teammate as they bring in another quarterback. 

After the first round, Sanders admitted he "didn't expect" his drop-off on Thursday, but it is now "fuel to the fire." On Saturday morning before the fourth round began, he posted on X saying he was excited for "another opportunity to get a chance to play the game I love."

The Browns finally turned that dream into a reality, and now Sanders can look ahead to impacting the team and city of Cleveland next season and beyond.

Sanders, a four-star recruit and top 100 overall prospect across the nation, began his college career alongside his father at Jackson State after "Coach Prime" was brought in to lead the program. He initially committed to play at Florida Atlantic despite multiple SEC offers. 

Sanders quickly showed off his passing skills, earning SWAC Freshman of the Year honors after throwing for 3,231 yards with 30 touchdowns to eight interceptions, while also rushing in for three scores over 13 games. 

In 2022, Sanders topped that with a SWAC Player of the Year performance, which included 3,752 yards, 40 touchdowns and just six interceptions with six more rushing touchdowns. 

The competition changed, though, when Sanders followed his father again, this time to Colorado to start in the Pac-12. The Buffaloes didn’t have immediate success, but the hype was high as Sanders came in and threw for 3,230 yards with 27 touchdowns to only three interceptions.

He had a 69.3% completion rate on 430 pass attempts over 11 games. The Buffaloes would finish 4-8 on the season, with Sanders missing the finale due to a fractured back. 

Instead of entering the Draft last season, Sanders stayed on for another year at Colorado, and it appeared to be the right move. He earned second-team All-American honors as well as being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and a Heisman Trophy finalist. He set a school record with 64 career passing touchdowns, and did so in just two seasons of play. 

Sanders also led the FBS with a 74% completion rate –again another school record. In 13 games, he had 4,134 passing yards with 37 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. 

On tape, Sanders is a highly accurate quarterback with good pocket presence and the ability to scramble, which you’d like to see at the pro level. Some criticism from experts includes a standard NFL arm with a long release compared to others, and a knack for wanting the big chunk play instead of going through progressions and checking down when needed. 

There’s also the massive spotlight Sanders has been in considering his father’s exuberant personality as a player and now a coach. One NFL coach reportedly called him "entitled," while others are skeptical about how that popularity will affect him on the field at this new level.

Trump blasts Putin, questioning if Russian leader wants peace or is just 'tapping me along'

President Donald Trump has expressed doubts that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to end its war with Ukraine which has raged for more than three years.

Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to express his growing frustration with the Russian leader in a week that saw Russia launch a deadly missile attack on Kyiv. The Thursday attack on Ukraine killed 12 people and injured at least 90, including children.

"There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days," Trump wrote, shortly after he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Vatican on Saturday for Pope Francis’ funeral.

The post comes as a peace deal appears nowhere in sight despite ongoing negotiations and Trump repeatedly claiming on the campaign trail that he would end the war within 24 hours of taking office. 

Trump said Saturday that the killings in the war are "worse than anything since World War II."

On Thursday, Trump pleaded with Putin to end the war.

"I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5,000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the peace deal DONE," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The attack on Kyiv came a day before Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s fourth visit to Moscow. 

Trump had expressed hope over Easter that Russia and Ukraine could reach a deal this week, saying that once an agreement was reached, they would be able to "start to do big business with the United States of America…"

Trump met face-to-face with Zelenskyy in Rome on Saturday, the first time since their infamous Oval Office spat in February.

Neither Ukrainian nor White House officials gave many details on the meeting; however, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said it was "a very productive discussion."

Trump also took aim at former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama in his Saturday post, blaming Biden for the war taking place under his watch and Obama for Russia taking Crimea.

Leavitt goes off on Democrat for taxpayer-funded trip to support deported suspected MS-13 gang member

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted Maryland Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen on Monday after he admitted that his trip to El Salvador to meet a deported illegal immigrant was paid for by taxpayers.

Van Hollen took heat from Republicans and one of his constituents, Angel Mom Patty Morin, after he flew to El Salvador in an effort to bring home deported illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whom the White House maintains is an MS-13 gang member.

On "Fox & Friends" Monday, Leavitt rebuked Van Hollen and said the American public should know "the truth" about Abrego Garcia.

"He is an illegal alien, a foreign terrorist and a criminal MS-13 gang member who violated our country’s laws by coming here in the first place," Leavitt told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade.

Leavitt said there was a "litany" of evidence proving Garcia’s ties to the gang that had been confirmed by "two different courts" and by "multiple" law enforcement officers.

"This is who the Democratic Party is advocating for. It is ridiculous," she slammed.

Leavitt said President Donald Trump would continue to do what voters elected him to do in enforcing immigration laws and deporting illegal criminals from the country.

MOST AMERICANS SUPPORT DEPORTING AT LEAST SOME ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, POLL FINDS

Leavitt claimed that the majority of Americans support the deportation of illegal immigrants who commit crimes.

"So the president will continue to do that while Democrats continue to trip over themselves while ignoring American citizens whose lives have been forever impacted by the actions and the crimes of these illegal criminals," Leavitt said, referring to the family of Maryland mother Rachel Morin, who was brutally killed by an illegal El Salvadoran migrant in 2023.

Rachel Morin's mother Patty spoke at a White House briefing last week, where she accused Van Hollen of "barely" acknowledging her daughter's brutal murder.

Leavitt said the senator hadn't reached out to Morin but had spent hours "fawning" over Abrego Garcia.

"It's unbelievable," she criticized.

Leavitt also took aim more broadly at Democrats who have been advocating for Abrego Garcia's return.

"Not only is it a slap in the face to American citizens, whose lives have been put in danger, or in many cases, lost at the hands of these illegal alien criminal gang members, but it's also a slap in the face to the millions of legal immigrants, who came to the country the right way, waited their turn and paid their dues," she added.

On "Fox News Sunday," Van Hollen defended his trip to El Salvador as being paid for by taxpayers like other congressional trips, referencing recent visits to El Salvador megaprison CECOT by a group of Republican legislators and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Van Hollen responded to the criticism from Morin, saying, "My heart goes out to every Maryland family that is the victim of violence, regardless of the perpetrator, and that is why I am very glad… that a court of law has convicted her killer. That is where we litigate these issues," he said. 

"That is where the Trump administration admitted that they had wrongfully detained and deported Abrego Garcia. My whole point here is if you deprive one man of his constitutional rights, you threaten the constitutional rights of everybody. I would hope that all of us would understand that principle."

Blue Jays' Jose Berrios confronts Mariners' Cal Raleigh who he believed was stealing his signs

Tensions were high as benches cleared for the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners on Saturday night. 

The reason was Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios confronted Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh, who the former believed was telling his teammates what pitches were coming while he was on base. 

Berrios and Raleigh were passing one another when an inning came to an end, and the pitcher was clearly saying his piece to the catcher, which led to both of them needing to be held back by their teammates.

Benches cleared as they continued to jaw back and forth, but nothing physical ever came of the altercation.

After the game, Berrios explained why he felt he had to say something to Raleigh.

"I don’t react that way very often," Berrios said. "I’m a quiet and chill guy. But when some people are trying to fight with us in the field, I don’t respect that. I don’t like that."

"I’d want my pitchers doing the same thing," Raleigh said when asked about Berrios’ words. "If somebody thought they were tipping, I’d want them to say something. Just how it is. Competitive baseball game. People are right in the heart of it."

While Berrios wasn’t happy, his manager knows that stealing signs, in legal fashion, is totally "fair game."

"Teams do it. We get it," John Schneider explained. "In the heat of the moment, you get a little bit fired up. I didn’t think the benches needed to clear. There was nothing crazy going on. But I like when our guys are sticking up for themselves."

The Mariners ended up defeating the Blue Jays, 8-4. Raleigh went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run scored and three walks. 

Berrios finished his six innings of work allowing four hits, four walks, and three earned runs.

Jasmine Crockett slammed for comparing Trump to MS-13 member: 'Complete lunatic'

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, took social media heat after arguing that President Donald Trump is worse than an alleged member of the notorious MS-13 gang.

"She got a bad case of [Trump Derangement Syndrome]," one social media user said of Crockett Saturday, adding that the lawmaker "knows we Texans are coming for her seat in Congress in 2026."

The comment comes after Crockett’s interview with MSNBC host Katie Phang on Saturday, where the Democratic lawmaker said Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant who was recently deported, was "a lot less criminal" than Trump.

The interview also featured Crockett tearing up after Phang offered her praise for her "continuing support for democracy" on what was likely Crockett’s last appearance on the recently canceled show.

But the interview wasn’t well-received by many users on X, with one user calling the whole segment a "clown show."

Clinton says we 'owe' it to Oklahoma City bombing victims to 'do better' as a nation

Former President Bill Clinton urged Americans to "do better" in his remarks at an event marking the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. He said it’s "what we owe 30 years later to the people who made the ultimate sacrifice."

The bombing on April 19, 1995, at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building is the deadliest homegrown attack in U.S. history. A truck bomb that exploded in front of the federal building at 9:02 a.m. claimed the lives of 168 people, including 19 children. Nearly 700 others were injured in the attack.

Clinton was nearing the end of his first term in office when the attack occurred. At the 30th anniversary event, he recalled the day of the tragedy.

"I went jogging with the winners of the Boston Marathon, giving me the illusion, and an illusion it was, that I was somehow pretty fit. And then I got back to the White House and the devastating news."

"The bombing in Oklahoma City was an attack on innocent children and defenseless citizens. It was an act of cowardice and it was evil. The United States will not tolerate it. And I will not allow the people of this country to be intimidated by evil cowards," Clinton said on April 19, 1995, according to a DOJ transcript.

McVeigh and his co-conspirators were eventually captured and convicted. On Aug. 14, 1997, more than two years after the bombing, McVeigh was sentenced to death. He was executed on June 11, 2001, exactly three months before America would be rocked by the 9/ 11 attacks. The Oklahoma City bombing was the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil up until 9/11.

American pastor kidnapped in South Africa thanks God after being rescued

American pastor Josh Sullivan released a statement after he was rescued from captivity following a deadly shootout in South Africa's Eastern Cape Province.

"I want to begin by thanking God for delivering me from what was undoubtedly the worst experience of our life," Sullivan wrote in a press release. He said that his "personal relationship with Jesus" gave him the strength he needed to survive.

Enoki mushroom packages recalled for possible listeria contamination

A New York company is recalling some packages of its mushrooms because of possible listeria contamination.

Harvest NYC Inc. issued a recall of 200-gram packages of the Enoki Mushroom on Wednesday and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on Friday.

The mushroom packages are being recalled "because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems," according to the FDA notice.

FOOD SOLD AT TARGET IS RECALLED DUE TO ELEVATED LEAD LEVELS

The recalled mushrooms were distributed by Hofood99 Inc. to retail stores nationwide, the FDA said. 

They come in a green plastic package with the barcode 6975730520101 on the back label.

The recall was initiated after samples collected from a store in Buffalo, New York, revealed the presence of listeria monocytogenes in some of the packages, according to the FDA.

"Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women," the FDA notice stated.

No illnesses have been reported, the FDA said.

Anyone who purchased these mushroom packages between Jan. 11-31 is "urged to destroy the products immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund."

Trump White House trashes NY Times over headline about deported El Salvadoran

The Trump White House on Friday criticized The New York Times for a headline referring to a "wrongly deported" Maryland father that the administration claims is actually an illegal immigrant with a violent criminal history.

"Senator Meets With Wrongly Deported Maryland Man In El Salvador," was the headline of a Thursday evening article plastered on the front page of The New York Times.

The report focused on Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who flew to El Salvador this week to meet with deported illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Garcia, a 29-year-old illegal immigrant living in Maryland, was deported to the El Salvadoran megaprison "Terrorism Confinement Center" (CECOT) last month. Officials acknowledged in court that his deportation had been an administrative error. However, now some top Trump officials say he had been correctly removed and contend that he is a member of the notorious MS-13 gang.

"Fixed It for you @NYTimes," the White House wrote Friday morning on X.

The tweet includes an image of the headline, which the White House's official account scribbled on to nix the words "wrongly" and "Maryland man," adding their own preferred language.

"Senator Meets With Deported MS-13 Illegal Allien In El Salvador Who's Never Coming Back," the White House's version reads.

"Oh, and by the way, @ChrisVanHollen — he's NOT coming back," the White House social media account added.

APPEALS COURT DENIES DOJ BID TO BLOCK RETURN OF KILMAR ABREGO GARCIA FROM EL SALVADOR PRISON

President Donald Trump also called out the Maryland senator on his Truth Social account.

"Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland looked like a fool yesterday standing in El Salvador begging for attention from the Fake News Media, or anyone. GRANDSTANDER!!!" Trump wrote.

Van Hollen said on Thursday that "Kilmar Abrego Garcia had been illegally abducted and is being held in a notorious prison in El Salvador -- barred from contacting his family or lawyers." Van Hollen also spoke to the press in El Salvador, in a video posted on YouTube.

"I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return," the Democratic senator wrote later that day on X.

KRISTI NOEM CRITICIZES 'LIBERAL LEFT' FOR TURNING ACCUSED GANG MEMBER INTO 'MEDIA DARLING'

Both a federal district court and the U.S. Supreme Court have ordered the Trump administration to "facilitate" Garcia's release and return to the U.S. for proper deportation proceedings.

The Trump administration also released information on Wednesday indicating that Abrego Garcia's wife has accused him of repeated abuse.

Fox News obtained the written domestic violence allegations filed in court against Abrego Garcia by Vasquez in 2021.

In the filing, written in her own handwriting, Vasquez alleged that Abrego Garcia had repeatedly beaten her, writing: "At this point, I am afraid to be close to him. I have multiple photos/videos of how violent he can be and all the bruises he [has] left me."

An elementary school teacher in Florida was placed on leave after she attended a house party involving alcohol where around 200 kids were present, according to officials.

Karly Anderson, a teacher at Saturn Elementary School, allegedly attended a house party in January at the Coco Beach home of Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, the former principal of Theordore Roosevelt Elementary School, according to FOX 35. An arrest affidavit indicates that around 200 people attended the "white lie party," which is what was advertised on Snapchat. Students from several area schools attended the party.

According to police, marijuana use, underage drinking and fights were seen at the party. One kid was also seen with a gun at Brodigan's residence. Officials said one boy was "vomiting and shaking" in the yard.

Anderson, who was a former teacher at Theordore Roosevelt Elementary School, was reassigned to Saturn Elementary School after the incident. Brevard County Public School Board Member Matt Susin told reporters on Tuesday that Anderson was placed on administrative leave, calling her actions "deplorable" and "disgusting."

Anderson was initially charged with felony child abuse, but prosecutors later reduced it to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and disorderly intoxication. Since her charges were reduced to a misdemeanor, she was allowed to continue her job teaching. She initially resigned from her job but then rescinded the resignation.

In police body camera video released by the Florida State Attorney's Office for the 18th Judicial Circuit, Anderson can be seen yelling at an officer.

"What the f--- is wrong with them?" Anderson said after a police officer allegedly threatened to put her in handcuffs. "Coco beach has gone f----- mad and nasty."

"You know I'm a teacher, who the f--- …. who got put in that car?" Anderson added. "I was here hanging out at this party, I mean what the f---, what's wrong with them?"

Ashley Fernandez, a parent of a Saturn Elementary School student, said that Anderson shouldn't be near a school.

"I was livid because, honestly, the woman still hasn’t even gone to court," Fernandez told FOX 35. "This issue hasn’t been resolved at all and so, she has no place being inside of a school right now."

Mark Rendell, superintendent of the Brevard Public Schools, said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital that Anderson's conduct was unacceptable.

"All employees are held to the highest standard of professional behavior, and BPS will continue to follow all policies and procedures to ensure a fair and thorough review of this new information. The teacher’s actions as seen on the footage were completely unacceptable and do not match the charges given and warrant a further investigation," Rendell said.

Republican uses George Washington, American Revolution to reject notion Ukraine should surrender to Russia

Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb. – who has advocated for the U.S. and Europe to "arm Ukraine to the max" – pointed to the American Revolutionary War to push back against the notion that Ukraine should surrender to Russia.

"I’m glad General George Washington didn’t say ‘Let’s surrender because Great Britain is too powerful and defeating them is unlikely.’ But, that is what some of our leaders are saying to Ukraine, the victim of a Russian invasion. Surrendering to a tyrant is not peace," Bacon wrote in a post on X.

The congressman wants the U.S. to provide arms to help the embattled Eastern European nation repel Russia.

Some Americans oppose the prospect of providing additional aid to bolster Ukraine's war effort.

But Bacon contends that backing Ukraine is in America's interests.

New England serial killer fears merit 'review and investigation' after remains found across 3 states: expert

At least seven human remains found across Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts between March and April warrant "review and investigation," according to Pennsylvania-based criminal defense attorney and former Lawrence County District Attorney Matthew Mangino.

Over the last two months, human remains have been located in New Haven, Norwalk, Groton and Killingly, Connecticut; Foster, Rhode Island; and Framingham and Plymouth, Massachusetts. 

It is unclear at this point if the deaths of these seven victims are related in any way, and Connecticut State Police told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that "there is no information at this time suggesting any connection to similar remains discoveries, and there is also no known threat to the public at this time," regarding the deaths in Connecticut. 

Internet sleuths who are part of a private Facebook page with tens of thousands of members, however, have prompted speculation about a lone-wolf perpetrator. 

"Whether it's coincidental or not, I think it merits review and investigation, at least," Mangino told Fox News Digital. "Collaboration between the different jurisdictions to determine whether or not there is some threat out there to individuals — that may be going on as we speak. We don't know that, but I think it does merit that kind of scrutiny."

Part of that investigation, Mangino said, should include looking for any kind of "patterns" between the respective deaths or crime scenes.

"These different jurisdictions need to get together and compare notes and reports. You can initially see if there are any similarities between these deaths," Mangino said. "Were these homicides? I mean, we may find that these are natural deaths or … it could be a suicide, it could be accidental. So, the number one issue is: is there enough to determine the cause and manner of death?"

Sometimes a serial killer may have a process of "staging" bodies or targeting specific victims who share certain physical features or backgrounds.

Brian Higgins, adjunct faculty member at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and former chief of police and director of public safety in Bergen County, New Jersey, noted that three of the victims in these seven cases have been identified as women. Police also believe the victim found in Killingly was a woman in her 40s to 60s.

"Well, you have the remains of seven people — that doesn't mean necessarily all seven are [victims] of a serial killer," Higgins said. "It could be, later on, you know, two or three victims. But it brought attention to these deaths, and that's a positive way to look at that."

The relatives of Michele Romano, the victim found in Rhode Island last month, have said her death was not related to a serial killer in a post on the Facebook page "Justice for Michele Romano."

"In light of the recent comments being made, we know that Michele’s passing is in no way related to any type of serial killer," the family wrote. "We have complete faith in the Rhode Island State Police and our Private Investigator that the person responsible will be brought to justice sooner rather than later!"

Fox News Digital reached out to Rhode Island State Police.

Higgins said while seven discoveries of remains in a geographically close region over two months is "unusual," "just because they're discovered in a short amount of time doesn't mean necessarily that they're connected in a timeline as far as death."

While the remains were located over the span of two months, that does not indicate the victims died around the same time. The remains discovered in Massachusetts, for example, were several months old, according to police.

Higgins and Mangino pointed to social media as both a tool and a hindrance for police looking into these different cases.

"True crime is the hottest thing on television, on podcasts and social media," Mangino said. "Certainly, there are times when these amateur sleuths can be helpful to law enforcement, but what it does is it creates a lot of…tension. At times it can make things difficult for investigators who are trying to remain open-minded and not create some sort of tunnel vision where, all of a sudden, there's concern in the community and panic because people believe there's a serial killer, and they're calling law enforcement on neighbors because they think they are acting suspicious."

Higgins similarly said that social media "is considered in law enforcement as a two-edged sword."

"In some respect … it could point law enforcement to other similarities or in a direction they wouldn't normally have gone. Somebody, just one person as part of this group, might raise an issue that will be that one thread that connects us," Higgins said. "The other side, of course, is it's fueling all this attention on this, and it may negatively impact the law enforcement officers … because now you've almost tainted a witness pool. People have this slant already that this is a serial killer, and these people were all killed by homicide. So it can interfere."

The New England Serial Killer Facebook group, which has 57,000 members, garnered more than 10,000 new members last week and over the weekend, as MassLive.com first reported.

Searches for "New England serial killer" on Google spiked around April 7, according to data from the search engine.

Jeffries: SCOTUS should hold Trump admin in contempt over deported Salvadoran migrant

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. on Tuesday said that the Supreme Court should consider holding the Trump administration in contempt over its deportation of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, an El Salvadorian illegal migrant and former Maryland resident.

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a lower court's decision to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia from an El Salvador prison where federal officials sent hundreds of suspected criminals and gang members last month.

"The Supreme Court has made clear that Mr. Abrego Garcia should not have been deported," Jeffries said at a Tuesday press conference on Democrats' upcoming "Save Social Security Day of Action" to oppose what he claims will be cuts to social security.

"In fact, the Trump administration has acknowledged that fact and so they need to comply with the Supreme Court's directive or the Supreme Court needs to enforce its order aggressively, which should include contempt."

The Supreme Court acknowledges that Abrego Garcia was subject to a 2019 withholding order forbidding his removal to El Salvador, and that the removal to El Salvador was "therefore illegal." The Court stressed that the government must facilitate his release from custody in El Salvador and treat his case as if he were never deported.

One immigration judge in 2019 found that Garcia had not sufficiently refuted evidence of MS-13 affiliation and was thus removable to anywhere other than El Salvador because of a threat from a rival gang, this is called a withholding order.

The Trump administration has faced criticism from Democrats, left-wing media and human rights advocates for sending Abrego Garcia back to his home country. Trump officials initially acknowledged his removal was due to an "administrative error."

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller on Monday said that two courts found Abrego Garcia to be an MS-13 gang member, and he was deported after Trump declared the violent gang a terrorist organization. 

Miller said that when Trump declared MS-13 a terrorist organization, Abrego Garcia was no longer eligible for any form of immigration relief in the United States.

Miller said that Abrego Garcia had an outstanding deportation order, meaning he wasn’t even allowed to be present in the U.S. and had to be removed because of the foreign terrorist designation.

Abrego Garcia is married to a U.S. citizen, and they are raising three children.

Jeffries, meanwhile, added that he was supporting the efforts of Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who is trying to meet with El Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele while he is here in the country. Van Hollen is trying to get Abrego Garcia sent back to the U.S.

Bukele met with Trump at the White House on Monday for a bilateral summit focused largely on immigration.

"I support the efforts and leadership of Senator Chris Van Hollen," Jeffries said. "The president should accept that meeting request and have a real discussion as to when Mr. Abrego Garcia is going to be returned to his family in the United States of America."

Van Hollen said he also wants to see the Trump administration held in contempt. 

"It's absolutely unjust and illegal to have this Marylander detained one more day in a notorious prison in El Salvador," Van Hollen said, per WBAL-TV.

"I saw that the families, the lawyers, have asked that the administration lawyers be held in contempt, and I think that's an absolutely appropriate move to take right now. They're absolutely snubbing their nose at the courts right now, including the Supreme Court."

Red state lawmakers warned about allegedly accepting 'DEI dollars' from hospital association: Watchdog

FIRST ON FOX: A conservative nonprofit is warning Tennessee lawmakers about a hospital group it says is quietly pushing radical DEI policies — even as some of those lawmakers have taken the group’s donations.

As institutions begin aligning their policies with President Donald Trump’s efforts to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Consumer's Research Group, a nonprofit conservative consumer agency, sent a letter to several Tennessee Republican lawmakers urging them to cut ties with the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA).

"Tennessee representatives who accept DEI Dollars from woke institutions like the Tennessee Hospital Association are putting themselves directly at odds with President Trump," executive director Will Hild told Fox News Digital. "The President was clear: organizations continuing to push discriminatory DEI policies should be investigated."

The letter, sent to Lt. Gov. Randy McNally and House Speaker Cameron Sexton, both Republicans, comes after the group launched a campaign last month titled "What Is Vanderbilt University Medical Center Hiding?" after finding that the university had been not just deleting some of its references to DEI commitments and resources, but also hiding them behind password-protected web pages. 

The letter was also cc'd to state House Majority Leader William Lamberth, state Sens. Shane Reeves, Jack Johnson, Ed Jackson, Becky Massey, Ferrell Haile and state Reps. Gary Hicks, Sabi "Doc" Kumar and Ryan Williams.

Public documents indicate the lawmakers received financial backing from the THA, which the association found still promotes DEI and "'health equity' through its Council on Inclusion and Health Equity."

"Our campaign asking what is Vanderbilt University Medical Center hiding exposed the health system's frantic and futile attempts to cover its widespread DEI tracks – essentially waving a great big red flag asking to be investigated," Hild added.

From 2020 through 2024, the Tennessee Hospital Association's political action committee (PAC) made $707,950 in contributions to candidates and PACs in the state, which includes both the House and Senate Republican caucuses. 

"This is why Consumers’ Research has significant concerns that your acceptance of THA’s DEI Dollars signals an organizational effort to prevent state investigations into hospitals, like VUMC, that have faced criticism for prioritizing equity over healthcare and providing irreversible gender transition procedures to minors," the letter to lawmakers on Friday states.

"This should be alarming to you and your constituents who rely on hospitals to provide exceptional care to patients, free of a political agenda."

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DOLED OUT OVER $200M TO UNIVERSITIES TO INJECT DEI INTO COUNSELING COURSES: REPORT

In a previous statement to Fox News Digital, VUMC spokesperson John Howser said that in light of Trump's recent executive actions mandating an end to DEI programs, particularly in educational institutions, VUMC "is undertaking a thorough review" of its programs to figure out "where revisions may be required to remain in compliance, including updating information on websites and other public platforms."

Trump signed the "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity" order in January to eradicate all DEI programs within federal agencies and among federal contractors. It revoked previous directives that had promoted affirmative action and required contractors to implement DEI initiatives, arguing that these programs led to "preferential treatment."

Fox News Digital has reached out to VUMC, the Tennessee Hospital Association and Tennessee Republican lawmakers who received financial donations from them.
