'Reagan' actor who immigrated from Soviet Union says 'atmosphere' in US changed after he became president

One "Reagan" feature film actor, a Soviet-era immigrant, said he thought he might have made a mistake coming to the U.S. before President Ronald Reagan took office, citing concerns about the state of the nation and the world.

Elya Baskin, who plays B.E. Kertchman in the top-rated feature film, joined "America's Newsroom" to discuss the significance of the movie and why its meaning is personal to him as an immigrant who escaped authoritarian rule.

I WORKED FOR RONALD REAGAN AND I LOVE HOW LIBERAL CRITICS ARE UPSET ABOUT THE NEW MOVIE

"I came here almost half a century ago, and I thought I came to paradise," Baskin told Griff Jenkins on Friday. "And then... Gerald Ford was the president. And then there were four years under President Carter, and that was four very different years… The Shah of Iran was betrayed by Carter and got Khomeini instead, the hostage situation, and he started treating Israel like an enemy… and inflation was huge. I remember it was like 10, 12% inflation."

"Every time you go to the store, it's more and more expensive, and I thought maybe I did the wrong thing that I came here," he continued.  "I was dreaming about. And all of a sudden… what's happening? And then came Reagan, and the whole atmosphere in the country changed. And... you understood that things will be better and life will be much better, and it became much better and… that's how I feel now."

"Reagan," the first full-length feature chronicling the life of former President Ronald Reagan, topped Amazon's Best Sellers list after becoming available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital earlier this month.

The film, which stars Dennis Quaid as the 40th president, was released on Blu-ray on November 19 and immediately rose to the top of Amazon's Best Sellers in Blu-ray charts over the weekend.

"Reagan" outperformed box office expectations in its opening weekend in September, taking the third spot behind "Deadpool & Wolverine" and "Alien: Romulus." It also has a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Baskin, who penned an op-ed with Fox News last year, argued "discredited Marxist ideology" has infiltrated the lives of Americans. He considered his role in "Reagan" to be a warning against Marxist rule.

‘REAGAN’ STAR DENNIS QUAID BRUSHES OFF BEING ‘CANCELED,’ SAYS FACEBOOK CENSORED MOVIE

"The young Reagan met Kertchman, who was a real character and who actually told him that everything that he reads in the newspapers is not really true, because Stalin was a great manipulator with the public opinion," Baskin said. "He invited a lot of celebrity authors to Russia and treated them like they were kings. He showed them how wonderful life is under the socialist… paradise and… at the same time, people were suffering."

"They were hungry… There were people arrested for saying things that the government wouldn't approve. It was [a] terrible time," he continued.

"I was very surprised when after a few years living here that to say 'I love America' in America could get [you] in trouble."

Baskin argued that Stalin used fear and manipulation to remain in control, which is why he wined and dined Western writers in the Soviet Union to disseminate a deceitful message to the rest of the world.

"Of course, these naive distinguished westerners had no clue about how ordinary people lived. Stalin had shown them only the artfully staged parts of life in the USSR and had permitted them to interact only with specially trained staff," he wrote in the op-ed. "While in Moscow, they were closely watched and not allowed to deviate even slightly from their pre-planned route."

"If they had witnessed the true conditions under which my compatriots lived, they would have had nightmares," he continued. "Millions of people were dying of hunger, sent to labor camps or brutally executed for being disloyal to the regime."

The film, however, also showcased the love story between the 40th president and his wife, Nancy.

Singer-songwriter Kathie Lee Gifford, who met President Reagan and his wife, co-wrote a song for the film in an attempt to show their unmatched bond.

"You could tell when you were with them that they were madly, madly devoted to one another. It was just a beautiful thing to see, truly beautiful thing to see," she said during "Fox & Friends" on Friday. "It's an apologetically romantic song."

Co-host Carley Shimkus read an excerpt from a letter Reagan wrote to his wife on their 31st wedding anniversary. "I more than love you," she read. "I'm not whole without you. You are life itself to me. When you are gone, I'm waiting for your return so I can start living again."

Gifford insisted everybody longs for the type of unconditional love Ronald and Nancy shared.

"Everybody longs to be loved like that," Gifford said. "We're not meant to be alone. We're not. We're meant to have not only community with other people, but intimacy with one person who totally, completely loves you for you, and you love him back the same way."

New report shows nearly 70% of Biden admin's education enforcement targeted Christian and career colleges

A report showed that nearly 70% of enforcement actions executed by the Biden administration’s Education Department targeted faith-based and career schools.

According to a press release published by the American Principles Project (APP), they drew on newly obtained data finding that nearly 70 percent of the Department of Education’s (ED) enforcement actions dealt with faith-based and career schools, even though those schools represent less than 10 percent of students in the US.

APP Policy Director Jon Schweppe said the Democrats have been "busy weaponizing every part of the federal government to target their opponents" for the past four years.

"While major assaults from agencies like the Department of Justice have taken most of the headlines, we should not ignore similarly corrupt efforts in other agencies as well," Schweppe said.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RESPONDS TO LIBERTY UNIVERSITY OVER CLAIMS THEY ARE TRYING TO TARNISH THEIR IMAGE

"As our report details, the Biden-Harris Department of Education has been engaged in a long-running scheme to punish Christian colleges that are ideologically opposed to the left’s agenda. The unfair targeting of these institutions has been egregious, and it needs to stop immediately."

The APP notes that two of the nation’s most prominent Christian universities, Grand Canyon University (GCU) and Liberty University, were subject to scrutiny by the ED. Both of these institutions faced record-level fines worth significantly more than "all penalties imposed over the past seven years combined," including fines imposed on Penn State ($2.4 million) and Michigan State ($4.5 million) relating to Jerry Sandusky and Larry Nassar’s respective sexual crimes.

GCU currently faces a hurdle while appealing a $37.7 million fine imposed by the ED in November of last year for allegations that the Arizona-based institution misled students about the cost of its doctoral programs over several years.

Furthermore, Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona in April vowed to shut down GCU during a House Appropriations Committee hearing about for-profit colleges. The Biden administration official claimed that "predatory schools" are "preying on first generation students."

UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO DEALT LEGAL BLOW AFTER CHARGING 'HEFTY' FEE AGAINST CONSERVATIVE SPEAKER: 'MAJOR WIN'

The report from APP said further that at "least 12 Christian colleges have been the target of excessive penalties or banned from receiving federal student aid; by comparison, no Ivy League school has been the recipient of punitive action by the Office of Enforcement."

"The average fine against a Christian school for a Clery Act violation was $815,000, compared to $228,571 against public and private institutions," it said.

The report comes after GCU recently scored a legal win over the ED regarding the Christian institution’s non-profit status. The ED denied GCU’s nonprofit recognition after it was approved by the Arizona Board for Private Postsecondary Education, the Internal Revenue Service, the State of Arizona and the Higher Learning Commission.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously that the ED unlawfully applied an incorrect standard to determine the university’s nonprofit status.

The case is now being remanded back to ED.

A department spokesperson sent a statement to Fox News Digital, saying that a "school’s religious affiliation or non-profit status has absolutely no bearing on our oversight and enforcement actions."

"Our top priority is protecting safety and academic opportunity for all students at institutions of higher education. The data in the APP report itself pushes a false narrative by distorting information released publicly by the Department," the spokesperson said.

NYC Democrat urges party to end 'dangerous' sanctuary policies, says officials could face criminal charges

A New York City Democrat is urging officials to repeal "sanctuary" policies that he believes violate federal law and put citizens in harm's way.

NYC Council Member Robert Holden told "Fox & Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade on Monday that city and state officials are breaking the law by protecting illegal immigrants who may be engaged in criminal activity.

"We're like shielding [illegal immigrants]. The governors, the Democratic governors and the mayors of these sanctuary cities are shielding criminals and terrorists," he said.

Holden insisted that federal and state governments must cooperate to crack down on illegal immigration and prevent future terror plots—referencing a breakdown in communication in the early 2000s that he believes facilitated the 9/11 attacks.

MIGRANT MURDERS PUT AMERICAN COMMUNITIES ON EDGE AS OVER 1.4 MILLION AVOID DEPORTATION WITH SHADY TACTICS

"We have terrorists that have gotten across the borders. We know it, and we don't know where they are, and of course, some of them are in New York City, and that's very, very dangerous," Holden said.

Holden noted that New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who has expressed frustrations about the migrant crisis, can petition New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and call on the city council to amend sanctuary city laws.

He also called on President-elect Donald Trump to get involved and threaten Democrats with possible jail time if they violate statutes against harboring criminal non-citizens.

"[President Trump] actually could say to the governor and to the mayor, cooperate with us, or we're going to charge you with felonies," Holden said.

The New York Times reported that Manuel Castro, New York's commissioner of migrant affairs, has vowed not to follow "the instructions of the federal government in cases of mass deportations."

MIGRANT ARRESTED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT RAPE OF 13-YEAR-OLD IN NEW YORK PARK

Castro's statement reflects a trend by state and local officials saying they would reject Trump's immigration policies. Trump campaigned, in part, on enforcing stringent immigration laws and deporting illegal immigrants.

Trump's commitment to closing the border was cemented by his pick for "border czar," Tom Homan, who served as the acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the first Trump administration.

"If you don't want to work with us, then get the hell out all the way. We're going to do it,' Homan recently said.

As a sanctuary city, New York spent $3.7 billion on housing, food, and other costs in the 2024 fiscal year alone.

RUBY CHEN: Trump NSA pick Mike Waltz can help US crush Hamas

As President-elect Trump continues to shape his cabinet, the selection of Mike Waltz as incoming national security adviser gives me, the father of Itay Chen, a U.S. hostage being held in Gaza by Hamas, a renewed sense of hope. Waltz should bring the decisive policy changes that we, the families of those abducted by Hamas, have been begging for.

My son Itay, along with six other U.S. citizens, has been held hostage since Oct. 7, 2023. Negotiations, pressure, and sanctions have so far failed to free them. Waltz has an opportunity to redefine the U.S. approach and implement a forceful strategy that directly targets the existence and future lifeblood of Hamas. With Waltz’s experience as a Green Beret, and commitment to U.S. security, he can shape a policy that not only helps Israel dismantle these threats, but also corrects America’s policy in the Middle East to enable peace and stability through strength.

FOUR AMERICAN HOSTAGES REMAIN IN HAMAS CAPTIVITY A YEAR AFTER OCT. 7 MASSACRE

Give Israel a Green Light to Pursue Hamas Leadership Globally

Hamas started this war on Oct. 7 with their murders, rapes, torture and abductions of Israelis. Yet, throughout the subsequent fighting, many of those leading the terror group have been living abroad comfortably, avoiding the consequences of the conflagration they began. Now that Qatar has finally expelled Hamas leaders from its borders, Israel has a unique chance to make them pay for their part in the Oct. 7 atrocities. The U.S. should unequivocally support Israel’s efforts to physically dismantle Hamas’s leadership – wherever it may operate.

Intensify Economic Sanctions on Iran and Its Proxies

Iran’s ongoing financial support for Hamas – such as the fake charities set up in Turkey and other countries – helps fuel this conflict, providing incentives for terrorists and the daily operational cash the terror group needs to survive. By intensifying sanctions on Iran and establishing more robust frameworks to crack down on illegal money transfers globally, the U.S. can cut off the resources that enable acts of global terror. This will signal worldwide that supporting terrorism is not good business under President Trump’s watch. Without financial resources, terror cannot thrive.

Push Turkey to Pick a Side: NATO or Hamas

Turkey's position as a NATO member comes with assurances, privileges and responsibilities. One of those is a commitment to peace and the rejection of terror. Turkey’s response to the Oct. 7 massacre and its continuous support of Hamas is contrary to NATO’s values. There is a clear axis of evil: On the one side, Russia, North Korea, Iran and its Houthi, Hamas, and Hezbollah proxies, and on the other, the U.S., Israel, the UK, France and other NATO members. The U.S. must let Turkey know that it cannot reap the benefits of being a NATO member while also acting contrary to U.S. strategic interests.

Support Israeli Leadership in Securing Hostage Releases

For the families of Hamas hostages, every day is an eternity. I call on Mike Waltz and the entire incoming administration to redouble its efforts, providing every tool possible to secure the release of the hostages: More diplomatic initiatives, enhanced intelligence sharing, U.S. boots on the ground, and more – all aimed at bringing the U.S. hostages home. My family deserves to be whole again, every family deserves to be whole again, and this support is vital to that mission.

Now, with President Trump, incoming Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Waltz as national security adviser, we have a unique opportunity for the release of the U.S. hostages to be a catalyst for a new era for the Middle East. I have faith that President Trump and his leadership team can help build a new Middle East based on a 2.0 Abraham Accords with Saudi Arabia and other Arab Sunni countries joining the peace treaty with Israel. On a personal level, my family prays that by Christmas my family will have its holiday miracle and be whole again and reunited with our son.

Are Pete Hegseth’s tattoos symbols of ‘Christian nationalism’?

President-elect Donald Trump’s new pick to lead the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, is being blasted for tattoos that some allege are symbols of White supremacy and Christian nationalism.

Hegseth, 44, is a former Fox News host and retired Army major who served in the infantry and was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Like many current and former military members, Hegseth has an array of tattoos with Christian and American symbolism.

One of the tattoos garnering the most attention is a symbol on Hegseth’s chest known as the "Jerusalem Cross," which consists of one large cross surrounded by four smaller crosses.

Hegseth, an evangelical Christian, has said that the cross is a symbol of his Christian faith, but his detractors have said the Jerusalem Cross is an indicator of extremism, White supremacist and Christian nationalist sentiment. Some have even mistaken it for the Nazi swastika.

PENTAGON BRACING FOR SWEEPING CHANGES AFTER TRUMP NOMINATES PETE HEGSETH FOR SECRETARY

According to Hegseth, concern over the tattoo caused his leadership in the District of Columbia National Guard to pull him from a mission to guard the inauguration of President Biden and ultimately factored into his decision to retire from the military.

According to Father David Grenier, a Catholic priest and member of the religious order the Holy Land Franciscan Friars, which uses the Jerusalem Cross as its symbol, the cross originated in Eastern Christianity sometime in the fifth and sixth centuries and was later adopted by crusaders and the Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem from 1099 to 1291.

The cross, which adorns Grenier’s habit, continues to be used by his order today. The cross is also the emblem of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Catholic order, the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.

He explained to Fox News Digital that the Jerusalem Cross has a dual meaning of representing the five wounds of Christ’s crucifixion and the gospel being taken to every corner of the world. In the latter interpretation, he said that the large cross represents Jerusalem from which the gospels reach the north, south, east and west, which are represented by the four smaller crosses.

TRUMP NAMING CABINET OFFICIALS AT ‘WARP SPEED,’ FAR AHEAD OF FIRST TERM PACE

While he said that he cannot speak to why Hegseth chose to tattoo the Jerusalem Cross on himself, he is not familiar with the cross being used to represent Christian supremacy sentiments. On the contrary, he said that the cross symbolizes the message of salvation being taken to all people. He also said that it is a fairly common practice for Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem to tattoo a Jerusalem Cross on themselves as a sign that they have visited the holy city.

"That was something that was happening, not necessarily for everyone, but for many people who traveled," he said. "And even today, when they go to the Holy Land to have the Jerusalem cross tattooed on their body."

One of those modern pilgrims with a Jerusalem Cross tattoo is Father Mike Schmitz, a podcaster, youth speaker and one of the most well-known Catholic priests in America.

In a video explaining his tattoo, Schmitz said that it serves as a reminder that "I never, ever, no matter what–I never want to be able to take off Jesus."

"If you are baptized, you’ve been clothed in Christ. You can’t take Him off. Same with me. I’ve been clothed in Christ in my baptism, and I can’t take him off, even if I wanted to. But there is some kind of expression of that. Now it’s on my arm," he said.

WHY TRUMP IS STICKING WITH GAETZ, HEGSETH DESPITE NEW ACCUSATIONS - AND HIS ‘MORNING JOE’ MEETING

Similarly, Jennifer Greenberg, an evangelical author and composer, told Fox News Digital that the Jerusalem Cross is also very common in evangelical circles.

She said she was "shocked" to see the cross being compared to a swastika online, which compelled her to respond in a viral X post.

"To see something so beautiful and so precious, such a symbol of rich Christian heritage equated with Nazism, you know, white supremacy, it was just really disgusting," she said.

According to Greenberg, the cross continues to be worn by pastors and to adorn Bibles and Christian books.

She also pointed out that Hegseth’s other controversial tattoos, "Deus Vult" and "Join or Die," are common Christian and American symbols and are not associated with extremism.

The "Join or Die" tattoo, which depicts a chopped-up snake, is a political cartoon first published in 1754 in Benjamin Franklin’s Philadelphia newspaper. The cartoon was intended to encourage the various American colonies to unite over a common cause and became one of the most well-known symbols of the Revolutionary War.

However, perhaps more controversial is the Deus Vult tattoo, Latin for "God wills it." This saying was a common battle cry during the Crusades, but, as Greenberg explained, it is also a common saying in Christianity indicating trust and abandonment of oneself to God’s providence.

"What they were saying is, ‘God, no matter what happens to me, if I die in battle, if I'm terribly injured, no matter what happens, may your will be done,’" she said. "I think it makes a lot of sense that someone like Pete Hegseth, being a veteran, would resonate with that kind of symbol because, as a veteran, as a soldier, he would have gone into battle. He would have walked between landmines, and this would have been a comforting thought for him. No matter what happens to me, God, let your will be done."

Youngest House Republican-elect reveals how GOP won back America's youth

EXCLUSIVE: The GOP appears to be attracting more of America's youth than in previous elections, with the 2024 cycle seeing a double-digit shift by young voters toward the top of the Republican ticket.

One of the Republicans leading that new wave is Rep.-elect Brandon Gill, of Texas, who at age 30 will be the youngest member of the House GOP conference and among the youngest in the 119th Congress overall.

"I think that's a few things. One is that younger voters are looking, more than anything, for sincerity. They're looking for people who understand what they're going through," Gill told Fox News Digital.

"And the reality is, the younger voters, they don't like things like censorship. They don't like government authorities telling them what they can and can't say. Younger voters don't like entering the workforce and finding out that it's really difficult to buy a home in Joe Biden's economy, that it's really difficult to get a good paying job, to put food on the table, to get groceries."

JOHNSON BLASTS DEM ACCUSATIONS HE VOWED TO END OBAMACARE AS 'DISHONEST'

The Trump-Vance campaign made multiple overtures to young voters, and young men in particular, who Republicans believed felt largely left behind and disaffected by Democratic leaders' push toward progressivism.

President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance sat for interviews with an array of podcasts that generally appeal to young men, including "The Joe Rogan Experience" and a one-on-one with comic Theo Vonn.

The strategy appears to have paid off; Fox News' voter analysis of the 2024 election saw an 11-point shift by voters under 30 toward Trump, compared to 2020.

Vice President Kamala Harris also significantly underperformed with that age group, netting 51% of those voters compared to President Biden winning 61% when he beat Trump.

Gill spoke with Fox News Digital on Friday afternoon, just after being elected president of the freshman class of House Republicans – a largely ceremonial role for incoming new lawmakers with leadership aspirations.

REPUBLICANS PROJECTED TO KEEP CONTROL OF HOUSE AS TRUMP PREPARES TO IMPLEMENT AGENDA

"We've got to take our country back," Gill said. "And I jumped in the race because we've got to have real, conservative, hard-core fighters who are willing to stand up to the swamp, to the establishment, and actually get real conservative reform here."

The Texas Republican was elected to represent a deep-red district occupied by retiring House Rules Committee Chairman Michael Burgess, R-Texas, who is four decades older than Gill.

Asked how Republicans can sustain the momentum of 2024 in future elections, Gill said it was about following through on promises.

MATT GAETZ FACES GOP SENATE OPPOSITION AFTER TRUMP SELECTION FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

"I think that the Republican Party, especially President Trump, has a very, very clear mandate, right?… We've got a majority in the House. We've got a majority in the Senate. President Trump not only won the Electoral College, he won every single swing state. He won the popular vote as well," Gill said.

"And if Republicans, if we come in, and we execute on the mandate, we do what we said we were going to do, then in two years and four years… people are going to reward us at the ballot box in future cycles."

In addition to his own fundraising during the 2024 election cycle, Gill also contributed over $170,000 to other House GOP candidates and incumbents, his campaign said.

Minnesota election judge faces felony charges over accepting unregistered votes

A Minnesota election judge is being charged after allegedly accepting people who were not properly registered to vote in the 2024 election.

Timothy Michael Scouton, who served as the head election judge for the Badoura Township Precinct in Hubbard County, Minnesota, is being charged with one count of accepting the vote of an unregistered voter and one count of neglect of duty by an election official, both felonies, according to a report from Fox 9.

Police say they were notified by an election auditor that 11 voters did not complete proper registration forms, yet were allowed to vote despite not being able to complete the forms that are used to authenticate their identity.

VOTER REGISTRATION FRAUD PROBE INVOLVING 2500 APPLICATIONS CONFIRMED BY PA. ELECTION OFFICIALS

Those votes were allowed despite Scouton reportedly completing his election judge training and head election judge training in July, the report notes.

Authorities spoke with another judge who worked with Scouton on the night of the election, with the judge telling police that Scouton instructed her not to use the proper registration forms. Another judge working with Scouton told police that she was not aware of the proper forms and was instructed by Scouton to have voters sign the back of a book.

DOJ ONCE OK'D LAW AT CENTER OF YOUNGKIN VOTER ROLL-CULLING ORDER FEDS NOW SUING TO BLOCK

Scouton was arrested on the charges by the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, who said he "declined to provide a statement."

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Secretary of State acknowledged that the charges against Scouton were "very serious."

"These allegations are extremely serious and must be fully and thoroughly investigated," the Secretary of State’s office said in a statement to Fox 9. "Election judges take an oath to administer elections in accordance with the law, a deliberate failure to do so is unlawful and a betrayal of the public trust. Minnesota’s elections rely on the dedication and public service of 30,000 people and they are required to conduct their work fairly, impartially, and within the letter of the law. The Hubbard County Auditor took prompt and correct action in notifying local authorities of the uncovered discrepancies so they could investigate."

Arab Americans in swing state urge Trump to follow through on promises to end conflict in Gaza

Leaders in Dearborn, Michigan, who helped power President-elect Trump to victory in the critical swing state penned a letter urging him to make good on his promise to bring peace to Gaza.

"We are urging your administration and transition team to apply your political influence in demanding an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon and Palestine," reads a letter to Trump released by the MENA (Middle East North Africa) American Chamber of Commerce. "This aligns to the commitment toward lasting peace which you made."

The letter comes after a movement in Dearborn that started as a protest to President Biden’s handling of the war in Gaza eventually resulted in Trump’s shocking victory in both Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, Michigan, two cities with large Arab American populations.

JOE MANCHIN: THE AMERICAN PEOPLE PICKED TRUMP. NOW IS THE TIME TO DELIVER SOLUTIONS FOR EVERYONE

Those votes contributed to Trump’s victory in the critical swing state of Michigan, which the president-elect won by just under 1.5 percentage points.

Trump made outreach to the Muslim community in Michigan a priority in the stretch run of his successful campaign, earning the endorsement of multiple community leaders in the Dearborn and Metro Detroit areas.

But while Trump has yet to take office, the MENA American Chamber of Commerce argued that the president-elect’s significant political influence could be useful in bringing a quicker end to the conflict.

IN ELECTION VICTORY, TRUMP'S GAINS WENT BEYOND THE BATTLEGROUNDS

"We urge you to call for an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon and Palestine while crafting a long-lasting peace in the region," the letter reads. "Further, we believe your team's leadership will be instrumental in advancing productive U.S.-Lebanese relations."

The group also acknowledged Trump’s commitment to peace, noting that it aligned with the values of the Arab American community.

"Dearborn, Michigan, a city with the highest concentration of Arab Americans outside the Middle East, turned red in this presidential election due to your genuine outreach to our community and our belief that you are the optimal choice for our democracy, economy, and matters of foreign policy," the letter said. "The over 3.5 million MENA Americans, some of whom reside in the swing states, are proud to have contributed to your margins of victory, particularly in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Your success is a testament to your resonance with the values and concerns of MENA Americans."

Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital request for comment.

Ramaswamy outlines DOGE's vision to bring 'sweeping change' to bureaucracy: 'Restoring... accountability'

Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) incoming co-leader Vivek Ramaswamy laid out the new agency's vision during an exclusive interview with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, telling the "Sunday Morning Futures" host the aggressive cost-cutting strategy will begin with executive action and lay the groundwork for Congress to do its part.

"The failures of the executive branch need to be addressed because the dirty little secret right now is the people we elect to run the government, they're not the ones who actually run the government. It's the unelected bureaucrats in the administrative state that was created through executive action. It's going to be fixed through executive action," he said.

"Think about the Supreme Court's environment. Over the last several years, they've held that many of those regulations are unconstitutional at a large scale. Rescind those regulations, pull those regs back, and then that gives us the industrial logic to then downsize the size of that administrative state. And the beauty of all of this is that can be achieved just through executive action without Congress. Score some early wins, and then you look at those bigger portions of the federal budget that need to be addressed one by one," he continued.

ELON MUSK, VIVEK RAMASWAMY TO LEAD TRUMP'S DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY

Ramaswamy pledged to bring "sweeping change" "as early and as quickly as possible."

Earlier this month, President-elect Donald Trump tapped Ramaswamy and business magnate Elon Musk to lead the newfound DOGE, aimed at suggesting ways to dismantle government bureaucracy and restructure federal agencies from an outside-the-government perspective.

Since DOGE is not an official government agency, neither Musk nor Ramaswamy are considered official cabinet members nor will they be federal employees.

Their work is expected to conclude no later than July 4, 2026 – on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence's signing.

According to Ramaswamy, the sweeping changes expected to come from the initial executive actions will lay the groundwork for Congress to "take meaningful steps" in budget reductions going forward.

TRUMP'S PICKS SO FAR: HERE'S WHO WILL BE ADVISING THE NEW PRESIDENT

"This is about restoring self-governance and accountability in America as well. Elected leaders, if they make the wrong decisions, voters have a great choice. You can vote them out and remove them. Most of the people making these decisions from health care to the Department of Defense are failing on effectiveness because they have no accountability. Historically, it's been the view of many scholars to say that those people could not even be fired. Now we take a different view with the environment the Supreme Court has given us in recent years, and we're going to use that in a pretty extensive way to move quickly," he explained.

After Trump announced his appointment, Ramaswamy withdrew himself from consideration for the Ohio Senate seat vacated by Vice President-elect JD Vance

Ramaswamy and Musk both threw their support behind Trump during the 2024 election cycle, campaigning for the president-elect in key battleground states that largely determined the outcome of the race.

They also flanked the president-elect alongside a number of his other key allies and nominees at UFC 309 at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris on Nov. 5, walking away with a landslide victory after sweeping all seven swing states.

'Full House' star Dave Coulier undergoes chemo treatment as he battles ‘very aggressive’ cancer

"Full House" actor Dave Coulier is doing his best to remain in good spirits after he’s recently been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

"Putting a positive spin and sending love to all of you who are battling and going through chemo," Coulier shared on his Instagram Story, Friday. "And remember to laugh."

Coulier is seen at a medical facility, with an intravenous line coming out of his shirt. The comedian flashed a smile and posed with a thumbs up as he wore a backward baseball cap.

'FULL HOUSE' STAR DAVE COULIER DIAGNOSED WITH 'VERY AGGRESSIVE' CANCER

Chemotherapy is a drug treatment that uses powerful chemicals to kill fast-growing cells in your body, according to the Mayo Clinic. Chemo is most often used to treat cancer, since cancer cells grow and multiply much more quickly than most cells in the body.

The actor revealed that two weeks into his diagnosis, he started chemotherapy. The comedian took a "preemptive strike" and made a decision to shave his head, according to the "Full House Rewind" podcast.

Coulier’s health update comes two days after he was diagnosed with a "very aggressive" cancer.

The comedian shared he was diagnosed in October after he suffered from an upper respiratory infection caused by major swelling in his lymph nodes.

"Three days later, my doctors called me back, and they said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and it's called B cell, and it's very aggressive,'" he told People.

"I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming," he added. "This has been a really fast roller-coaster ride of a journey."

‘FULL HOUSE’ STAR DAVE COULIER SAYS SOBRIETY HELPED HIM GRIEVE THE DEATHS OF BOB SAGET, DAD AND BROTHER

According to the American Cancer Society, B-cell lymphoma is a type of cancer that develops in B-lymphocytes. B-cell lymphomas account for the vast majority of non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Every year, more than 80,000 Americans are diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

"The first thing I said to them was, ‘Wait a minute — cancer?’" Coulier shared on the "Today" show. "(I was) feeling like I got punched in the stomach because it never happens to you. You always hear about it happening to someone else."

"Full House" co-star John Stamos, 61, paid tribute to his longtime friend on social media after Coulier’s cancer announcement.

"My brother from day 1. Love you @dcoulier and I’ll be by your side through it all," he wrote in his caption with a carousel of photos of the two.

"It was just this outpouring of, ‘I will be there. You just name the time, and I know you're in great hands with Mel, but what can we do?’ It really is overwhelming the love that we have for each other. We've been there for so many years for each other and it's pretty remarkable."

Included in the group text were Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, Scott Weinger and series creator Jeff Franklin.

In 2022, "Full House" star Bob Saget died from head trauma, a statement from Saget's family and the Orange Country Medical Examiner's office previously revealed. He was 65.

The popular show ran for eight seasons, from 1987 to 1995.

Trump supporters rip Chicago mayor to his face just before City Council rejects his tax hike

Ahead of a Chicago City Council vote unanimously rejecting Mayor Brandon Johnson’s proposed $300 million property tax hike, local residents addressed the council and the mayor, criticizing Johnson to his face over trying to raise taxes while catering to illegal immigrants.

Among these angry locals were several supporters of President-elect Donald Trump, who, while wearing MAGA gear, gloated about how Trump’s victory means Johnson’s liberal policies – particularly those assisting illegal immigrants – will face a reckoning.

"The feds need to address you! The DOJ needs to address you! And hopefully Donald Trump will address you, because you’re gonna protect the undocumented, while you’re gonna allow for the citizens in Chicago suffer under your, what? Three percent?" Chicago resident Tyjuan Sims told the mayor on Thursday night.

Clips of the council meeting can be viewed here.

VANCE IN 'CATBIRD SEAT' FOR 2028 GOP PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION, BUT THESE REPUBLICANS MAY ALSO RUN

Chicago residents have been angry with Johnson and other city officials for some time now, especially over policies allocating taxpayer money to benefit illegal immigrants that have flooded the city in recent years.

Locals blistered the Chicago City Council at a meeting in February after city and state officials had approved hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to feed, clothe and house more than 35,000 migrants who have been transported to Chicago and its suburbs in the prior year-and-a-half.

"They're junking up our country. And yeah, we feel some kind of way about it because it's our country," one Chicago resident said at the time. "We're going to get them out of our communities because they don't deserve to be there."

The City Council convened the special meeting this week to vote on Johnson’s property tax hike proposal with less than two months before the city has to pass a new city budget. In a historic repudiation, all 50 City Council members voted against Johnson’s $300 million tax hike that would have increased Chicago homeowners’ expenses by up to 4 percent.

The Chicago Sun-Times noted, however, "The unanimous vote was largely symbolic. Negotiations to reduce or eliminate the property tax increase and replace it with a mix of new revenue and reprogrammed federal pandemic relief funds began last weekend."

As Illinois outlet "The Center Square" reported, Johnson "said the property tax hike was necessary to avoid laying off city workers like police officers and firefighters as Chicago faces a nearly $1 billion budget gap."

Prior to the vote, the Council allowed locals to address the city government, including the mayor, who presided over the meeting. Several frustrated Chicagoans took out their anger on the mayor and shared their satisfaction that the city was becoming redder.

Resident Dennis White stepped up to the mic wearing a black MAGA hat with red letters and asked the chamber, "How does it feel that Trump is in office right now?"

"You see, Mayor Brandon Johnson, you underestimate us. You underestimate the Black people and underestimate Chicago red," he continued, referencing Republicans in the city. "You know that Trump had pulled 45 percent of the voter in the state of Illinois, 37 percent in Chicago. That’s the statistic. That means that Illinois is turning purple. We gonna turn red," he warned.

CHICAGO MAYOR CALLED OUT FOR CLAIMING TRUMP IS A THREAT TO BLACK FAMILIES: 'AMERICANS HAVE SPOKEN'

"You’re just like a schoolyard bully," Jessica Jackson told Johnson. Wearing an all-red outfit, she blistered the mayor, adding, "But those of us who grew up on the south side and west side of Chicago, we all know at some point that bully gets cornered in an alley and everybody come at him. And he ain’t gonna have nobody to help him. That’s you!"

"So you and the rest of ‘em that know what time it is, y’all come on. You leave that loss where he is. He’s a loser! He’s a loser!"

Another local who marked herself down as Mrs. Lawrence for her comments, trashed the mayor while wearing a red "Make America Godly Again" shirt. She brought up Johnson’s recent approval numbers from Change Research showing him at a woeful 14 percent approval rating.

"14 percent rating is what you appear to have, Brandon Johnson – across the United States – on how they see you. 14 percent rating."

She blasted him for the tax hike proposal. "What about our real estate? Because, see, we paid for these properties for a purpose and not for you to go touchin’ it with $300 million that you want to syphon out of the citizens’ pockets." She then yelled into the mic, "Get rid of the illegals! And that will take your money right back. Start it off with that!"

The mayor's office did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Walmart tops these other grocery stores in new study for one key reason

A new study has revealed the cheapest places to buy groceries in the United States — and there might be some surprises.

The cheapest grocery store in the country is Walmart, a new study from Coupons4Real said.

Aldi came in second place, followed by Costco, the study said.

STATES WHERE THANKSGIVING TURKEYS COST THE MOST AND LEAST ARE REVEALED IN NEW STUDY

To calculate the country's cheapest grocery store, Coupons4Real.com surveyed major grocery chains – Aldi, Costco, Kroger, Target and Walmart – across 49 cities in the United States using Instacart.

Then it compared the prices of 118 different store-brand items, as well as different store-brand lines.

The study found that Walmart's "Great Value" brand was true to its name — and was often among the 20% cheapest of all store-brand products.

Aldi, the discount supermarket chain, was the second-least expensive of the five surveyed chains.

HOT FOOD TRENDS OF 2025: VALUE MEALS, COLD BREWS AND MUSHROOMS

Costco, the warehouse store that requires a membership for shopping in-person, came in third.

(Non-members as well as members may use Costco Shop Cards to shop at Costco locations in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico — as well as online at Costco.com — according to the company's website. To buy a Costco Shop Card, you must be a Costco member.)

While Walmart's store-brand products as a whole were the cheapest of the chains, many individual products at Aldi were the cheapest option for that particular type.

These included sour cream, mixed vegetables, frozen seafood and fruit mixes, Coupons4Real said.

The most expensive of the supermarket brands was Target's "Good & Gather Organic" line of products, the study said.

Overall, however, Kroger stores had the most expensive store-brand products.

This year, many grocery chains are taking steps to save people money in the wake of rising inflation rates.

Target, Walmart and Aldi have each released meal deals for the upcoming holiday season.

The exact makeup and price of these meals vary by chain but include a frozen turkey and side dishes for a set cost.

Scientists in Argentina unearth oldest tadpole fossil ever discovered

A tadpole fossil found in Argentina, dating back at least 161 million years, is the oldest that has ever been discovered.

The fossil was found back in January 2020, with news of the discovery published on Oct. 30, 2024, in Nature.

The team was not necessarily in search of what they found and came upon their monumental discovery by accident.

12-YEAR-OLD BOY STUMBLES UPON STUNNING ANCIENT FIND WHILE WALKING DOG IN ENGLAND: ‘RELATIVELY RARE’

The team was actually on the hunt for dinosaur fossils, according to National Geographic.

What they ended up finding was the oldest-known fossil of a tadpole on a piece of sandstone, according to The Associated Press.

The fossil contained parts of the tadpole's skull and backbone, as well as impressions of eyes and nerves, according to the source.

"It’s not only the oldest tadpole known, but also the most exquisitely preserved," said study author Mariana Chuliver, a biologist at Buenos Aires’ Maimonides University, per AP.

"It’s starting to help narrow the timeframe in which a frog becomes a frog," said Ben Kligman, a paleontologist at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History who was not part of the research, according to the source.

IRISH FARMER FINDS NEAR 60-POUND SLAB OF ANCIENT BOG BUTTER ON HIS LAND BY ‘PURE LUCK’

The tadpole discovered belongs to the Jurassic species Notobatrachus degiustoi, according to the published research, and provides a greater understanding of the evolution of the life cycle of a frog.

The fossil shared similar characteristics to a modern-day tadpole. Similarities include "the filter-feeding mechanism characteristic" that is present in tadpoles still in existence today, according to the research.

The exceptionally large tadpole fossil measured to be about six inches in length.

Modern frogs range greatly in size. The largest frog species surviving today is the Goliath frog.

Though the tadpoles belonging to these species generally fall in line with other frog species in terms of size, they can grow to be a whopping 12.5 inches, according to San Diego Zoo's website. These massive frogs can weigh up to 7.2 pounds, per the source.

As for the tadpole fossil recently studied, there was no doubting what it was upon discovery, but further investigation began to reveal more about the record-breaking find.

"When I first saw the fossil, I said, 'Okay, it is a tadpole, there is no doubt,'" Chuliver said, per NPR. "But then when I saw it under the binocular microscope, I said, 'Okay, this is the best tadpole ever!' Because up to now, there wasn't any other type of fossil tadpole with the gill skeleton preserved."

Blue city residents say migrant surge fueled Trump gains: 'Democratic Party does not own us'

Blue city residents believe President-elect Donald Trump made historic gains in Democrat-run cities because of liberal leaders' poor handling of the migrant crisis.

"P-Rae" Easley, a Chicago Democrat-turned-Trump-supporter, and Danielle Jurinsky, an Aurora, Colorado city council member, discussed why residents are fed up with liberal leaders during "The Ingraham Angle."

‘THE VIEW’ CO-HOST SUNNY HOSTIN SLAMS LATINO REPUBLICAN'S FOR VOTING ‘AGAINST THEIR SELF-INTEREST’

"Do you expect your local leaders in Chicago to listen to the people of these cities, even if Democrats still want a majority?" Laura Ingraham asked Easley on Thursday. "They're not happy."

"Before today, I would have said no," she responded. "But today, for the first time in the history of Chicago, the entire city council voted no against the mayor in his budget to fund migrants. It was literally 50 aldermen said no. Straight red across the board. Chicago, red is winning and permeating the conscience of our leadership here."

Chicago, a sanctuary city, has been bombarded with more than 51,000 migrants since 2021, according to city data

The surge has taken a massive toll on city resources, prompting officials to spend more than $574 million to accommodate the illegal immigrants since 2022.

Amid the ongoing crisis, residents have begun to fight back against the liberal policies, and Easley argued the city council vote was indicative of that conservative shift.

"We vote Democrat in this city because of the culture of patronage and bullying and terrorism," Easley said. "And so we even have a federal decree to make them stop calling the Shakman decree, and so now that that's done, and the people, everyone knows, across every race and socioeconomic class, that the Democratic Party does not own us, Chicago is about to change, and today's city council vote definitely illustrated that."

Meanwhile, the incoming Trump administration is already preparing to dramatically increase its capacity to detain illegal immigrants as part of the massive deportation operation it has pledged to launch in January, Fox News Digital has confirmed -- the latest sign that it plans to deliver on that promise.

BLOODTHIRSTY VENEZUELAN STREET GANG SPARKS FEAR IN US AMID MIGRANT SURGE: WHAT TO KNOW

President-elect Trump said during the campaign that he intends to launch a historic mass-deportation campaign in the wake of the historic migrant crisis at the southern border.

"Obviously, the fear is he's talking about going after law-abiding Coloradans who might have lived here for 20, 30 years," Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said regarding the plan. "Obviously, it would devastate our economy and our society if someone were to come in and forcibly take our neighbors away from us. We shouldn't be tearing apart these de facto American families."

Aurora, a Denver suburb, has made national headlines in recent months since Venezuelan gangs have taken over apartment buildings and terrorized local communities.

Trump detailed his "Operation Aurora" plan during a rally in the city in October, a program at the federal level that would remove illegal immigrant members of Tren de Aragua. The program is expected to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to target and dismantle "every illegal migrant criminal network operating on American soil."

Jurinsky argued that if Polis stands in the way of the Trump administration's deportation plan, it could hurt the Democrats politically in future election cycles.

"It seems that in this state they have become third-class citizens, and American citizens have had to take a backseat to the chaos that our governor and liberal policies and this current administration's failure has allowed to come into this country," Jurinsky said.

"If they see our gov stand as a roadblock… for the incoming administration, for Kristi Noem's team to come in and… relieve this chaos, I think it will hurt the Dems," Jurinsky said. "I think Polis had better get out of the way, as Tom Homan said."

Suzanne Simpson's husband went to dump site, Home Depot, car wash hours after realtor's disappearance: docs

Nearly six weeks ago, Texas realtor and mother Suzanne Simpson mysteriously disappeared, and authorities are still searching for her remains after charging her husband with murder.

The 51-year-old mother of four and luxury real estate agent went missing on Oct. 6 after allegedly fighting with her husband of 22 years, Brad Simpson, 53, in Olmos Park, in the San Antonio area.

"Yesterday, the Olmos Park Police Department along with the Texas Rangers have charged Brad Chandler Simpson with murder in the death of his wife Suzanne Clark Simpson," Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas said during a press conference on Nov. 8. "We realize that this doesn't bring closure to Suzanne's family, but we hope it will allow them to enter the next phase of their grieving process with more clarity."

"Officers in law enforcement have gathered enough evidence in order to charge him with murder," Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Deon Cockrell added during the press conference.

HUSBAND OF MISSING MOM SUZANNE SIMPSON CHARGED WITH MURDER

Authorities say there are no signs of Suzanne Simpson being alive since Brad Simpson physically assaulted her on Oct. 6, according to a recently unsealed arrest affidavit. This has been verified by her cellphone records, financial records, family, friends and co-workers, the report continues.

Here's a timeline of events that unfolded before and after Oct. 6 based on court and police records and statements:

Suzanne Simpson told her personal banker that she was being physically abused by her husband, Brad Simpson, that he would commonly take her cellphone away and "that if she went missing to look for her in a lake." Suzanne also told the banker that her husband would tell her children that she had lost her cellphone after he had taken it from her.

MISSING SUZANNE SIMPSON'S DAUGHTER SAID FATHER 'TOOK MY MOTHER'S LIFE' AFTER REAL ESTATE AGENT'S DISAPPEARANCE

Brad Simpson sent a text message to a female, writing, "I still feel bad about tonight. I never should've grabbed her phone and drove off but she was so protective of it. My dumb ass didn't know her passcode so I got locked out and had to bring it back. I really have no interest in looking through her phone or anybody else's. these devices are the Devil." This female later told authorities that Suzanne Simpson was aware that her husband would "track" her and that he was "extremely jealous."

The Simpsons and their 5-year-old daughter attended a party at the Argyle club, a ritzy private club in Alamo Heights on the evening of Oct. 6. They were witnessed having a "verbal altercation" while at the party, according to an arrest affidavit.

At about 8:30 p.m., Suzanne Simpson and her daughter left the party and went to the H-E-B grocery store in San Antonio from 8:40 p.m. to 8:51 p.m., according to surveillance footage obtained by police. Suzanne Simpson and her daughter arrived at their house soon after, documents show.

HUSBAND OF MISSING TEXAS REAL ESTATE AGENT DENIES ‘LUDICROUS’ CHARGES AGAINST HIM: LAWYER

At 9:15 p.m., Suzanne Simpson called a family friend to say she was coming over.

At 9:16 p.m., she called her mother to report that Brad Simpson had just assaulted her, "causing pain to her arm, back, and neck."

At 9:25 p.m., she arrived at the family friend's house.

After 10 p.m., a neighbor witnessed Brad and Suzanne Simpson arguing loudly and "physically struggling" in front of his residence. The neighbor observed that "Ms. Simpson was attempting to get away from Mr. Simpson's grasp as he tried to pull her downwards" and that Brad Simpson chased after his wife and was trying to grab her, according to documents. The neighbor later heard screams coming from the wooded area across from his home.

At 10:22 p.m., Suzanne Simpson's iPhone "Find My" application" showed her at her house, which was the last location listed for Simpson on the app.

MISSING TEXAS REAL ESTATE AGENT’S HUSBAND KEPT IN JAIL WITH HIGH BOND AS FAMILY RIPS HIS LACK OF COOPERATION

About one hour after witnessing Suzanne and Brad Simpson fighting in front of his home, the same neighbor observed Brad Simpson's truck leave the area and then return about another hour later.

The 5-year-old child of Suzanne and Brad Simpson later told a school counselor that on the evening of Oct. 6, Brad Simpson allegedly "pushed her mother against the wall, hit (physically) her mother on the face and hurt her mother's elbow inside their residence" and also "turned off her mother's phone because they were fighting."

At 12:33 a.m., Brad Simpson and his truck were seen on surveillance footage at a San Antonio H-E-B grocery store, and his truck bed was clear of anything except a large ice chest.

At about 7:53 a.m., Brad Simpson's truck was observed dropping his 5-year-old daughter off at school. Simpson's truck bed area contained two white trash bags and a large ice chest, according to surveillance video obtained by police.

At about 9:12 a.m., Simpson's vehicle was seen on the drive-through camera of Whataburger in Kendall County, Texas, where Simpson purchased food using his debit card. The surveillance footage shows three white trash bags, a heavy-duty trash can, an ice chest and a "large bulky item wrapped and secured in a blue tarp" that was held down by a firewood rack in the back of Brad Simpson's truck, according to the affidavit.

At about 9:53 a.m., Simpson purchased two bags of cement, a construction bucket, a box of heavy-duty trash bags, Clorox disinfectant spray and insect repellent with cash at a nearby Home Depot, police learned through cellphone data, surveillance footage and a Home Depot receipt. Prior to his purchase, Simpson asked an unknown male in the parking lot for directions to the nearest dump in Boerne.

During this time, Simpson "intentionally shuts off his cellular device" and his vehicle was later seen near the Kendall County Solid Waste site, according to the affidavit.

At 11:15 a.m., Simpson's truck was seen at a Valero/Stripes gas station in Kendall County, where he used his debit card to buy gas for his truck and used cash to buy two juge of water. The white trash bags were missing from his truck at the gas station, but the blue tarp, firewood rack and trash can were still present. Simpson had changed from black sandals into "dark colored, cowboy styled boots," according to surveillance.

At 3:27 p.m., Simpson was observed picking up his daughter from school, and his truck bed was clear of the blue tarp and metal firewood rack.

At about 4:07 p.m., he was spotted on another surveillance camera "washing and cleaning the drive front (sic) side and the rear-left passenger side" of his truck at a car wash back in San Antonio.

TEXAS MOM, LUXURY REAL ESTATE AGENT MISSING AFTER PARTY AT EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE CLUB, HUSBAND ARRESTED

On the evening of Oct. 7, friends of Suzanne Simpson met to discuss her disappearance. At this point, Brad Simpson had not called police or 911 to notify them of his wife's disappearance, and a friend informed him that she was going to call the police.

At 9:57 p.m., a friend of Suzanne Simpson contacted police to report her missing.

At 10:11 p.m., Brad Simpson called police and left a voicemail. When officers contacted Brad Simpson at his home, he told police he had not heard from his wife since Oct. 6 at 11 p.m.

Simpson exchanged a series of ominous texts with James "Val" Cotter, his longtime friend and business partner. "If you're in Bandera, can you haul a-- to meet me at your house?" Simpson allegedly texted. "I don't have much time." In a later text to Simpson, Cotter wrote, "Get over here!! I won't tell anyone" and "You're my brother."

In the early morning, Brad Simpson was arrested on charges of assault causing bodily injury, family violence and unlawful restraint.

Texas Rangers executed a search warrant at the Simpson home in Olmos Park, where a Ranger observed "an indention located on the wall at the bottom of the stairway." Brad and Suzanne Simpson's daughter told police that the damage on the wall was recent and not there when she had previously visited the home.

Later that day, Rangers executed a search warrant of Brad Simpson's property in Bandera County, where they found a ground-level burn site with a burnt laptop and multiple cellular devices.

Rangers searched Brad Simpson's truck and identified stains that tested "presumtively positive for blood." Authorities later learned the blood belonged to Brad Simpson.

A family member informed law enforcement officers that Brad Simpson owned multiple firearms they wanted to surrender. The family member recovered several firearms from a locked room in the Simpson home and then transported the firearms to the Olmos Park Police Department, records show.

A federal detainer or charge was placed on Brad Simpson by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for illegally owning a firearm, according to an affidavit.

After several days of searching both in and around the Simpson family home in Olmos Park and surrounding wooded areas, investigators began searching a landfill on the Eastside of Bexar County. They searched the landfill for four days, but in the end, it appears they did not find Suzanne Simpson there.

Cotter was arrested on Oct. 21 and charged with tampering with evidence and possessing a prohibited weapon, both third-degree felonies, after being accused of hiding Brad Simpson's gun.

On the evening of Oct. 22, two felony charges were filed against Brad Simpson for the exchange police say he had with Cotter.

Authorities charged Brad Simpson with the murder of his wife, Suzanne Simpson.

"It is heartbreaking, but it brings our family some peace to know that authorities have gathered sufficient evidence to feel confident in moving forward with charges," Brad Simpson's brother, Barton Simpson, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

"This also helps us come to terms with the reality that Suzanne is no longer with us, allowing us to begin the difficult grieving process and focus on rebuilding our lives, especially for the sake of the children and our extended family."

Authorities held a press conference announcing Brad Simpson's murder charge.

"It's always important to do what is right, especially when it is most difficult," Barton Simpson, who has been vocal on social media about his brother's lack of cooperation with law enforcement, said at the press conference. "The situation is heartbreaking to us, but it brings some peace, knowing that the authorities have gathered enough evidence to move forward with charges. This helps us come to terms with the reality that Suzanne is no longer with us."

"It is our sincere hope and prayer that Brad will find the compassion and courage to end his family's suffering by cooperating with the authorities to help us find his wife."

Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Deon Cockrell confirmed at the press conference that authorities are searching the Bandera area for Suzanne, adding to the list of locations law enforcement have previously searched.

"That is one of the areas where the evidence had turned us to, and we continue to search wherever any of the evidence comes up," Cockrell said of the Bandera area.

MISSING TEXAS MOM SEEN IN LAST PHOTO BEFORE DISAPPEARANCE AS FAMILY FEARS WORST

Authorities believe Brad Simpson "intentionally and knowingly caused the death" of Suzanne Simpson "on or about Sunday, Oct. 6, according to the unsealed arrest affidavit.

Suzanne Simpson's sister, Teresa Clark, recently told People she "knew immediately that [her] sister was gone," adding that two red flags were when her sister failed to show up for a hair appointment and then to pick up her youngest child from kindergarten.

"They will find her," Clark said. "She was a great mom and a great daughter and a great wife. She was beloved. We're going to do everything we can to bring her home."

Brad Simpson remains in Bexar County jail with bonds totaling $3 million and the federal hold by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for the weapons charge.

His bond hearing scheduled for Wednesday has been delayed to Dec. 19. His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

BYU cheerleading coach 'lost consciousness' after being struck in head with water bottle, Utah fan arrested

BYU cheerleading coach Jocelyn Allan lost consciousness after being struck in the head with a water bottle following BYU’s final-second victory over Utah on Saturday, and police say an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Allan, who has served as the head cheer coach at BYU since 2010, posted about the incident on social media immediately after the game, alleging that it was a Utah fan that threw the water bottle.

"At the conclusion of tonight’s BYU/Utah game, a Utah fan in the table seats in the south endzone threw a water bottle and hit me directly in the head," Allan wrote in a post to her Instagram Stories, via the New York Post.

"I lost consciousness but thankfully was lowered to the ground by one of my cheerleaders. Police are going over video footage to identify the seats that it came from (we have a pretty good idea). If you saw the incident, or have any info on the family who owns that particular box, please contact me. Thank you!"

A spokesperson for BYU athletics confirmed that Allan was struck by a water bottle at the conclusion of the game.

The University of Utah Police Department later confirmed in a statement to Fox News Digital that William Gardner, 18, was arrested and charged with assault. He is not a Utah student, police added.

UTAH AD SAYS 'GAME WAS ABSOLUTELY STOLEN FROM US' AFTER LOSS TO BYU

"Gardner is charged with throwing a water bottle onto the field at Rice-Eccles Stadium that struck a member of the BYU cheerleading team during the Utah-BYU football game Nov. 9," the statement read.

FOX 13 reported that Gardner was in a suite at the game with his family. His father contacted police the following day and alerted them that it was his son that threw the water bottle.

The incident comes as Utah athletic director Mark Harlan was publicly reprimanded and fined $40,000 by the Big 12 for making controversial calls on the Cougars’ winning drive.

"This game was absolutely stolen from us," Harlan said after the game. "We were excited about being in the Big 12, but tonight I am not. We won this game. Someone else stole it from us. Very disappointed. I will talk to the commissioner. This was not fair to our team. I’m disgusted by the professionalism of the officiating crew tonight."

After being disciplined, Harlan released a statement standing by his comments on the game’s officiating but added, "I recognize that there are more appropriate times and avenues to express those concerns, and I accept the consequences of my decision."

US warns Russia potentially aiding North Korea's nuclear program in direct threat to Europe, Asia

In an ominous warning on Wednesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that North Korea’s military involvement in Russia’s war against Ukraine poses a threat beyond the immediate conflict with Kyiv, and it could mean Moscow is aiding Pyongyang in its nuclear development.

"The fact is, the relationship between Russia and North Korea is a two-way street," Blinken said while speaking alongside Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha from NATO’s headquarters in Brussels. "North Korea is helping Russia and its aggression against Ukraine.

"At the same time, the support that Russia is providing to North Korea, potentially including support for its nuclear and missile programs, poses a threat to civility and security in the Korean peninsula as well," he added.

UKRAINE, NORTH KOREAN TROOPS CLASH FOR FIRST TIME; ZELENSKYY WARNS OF ESCALATION

Blinken’s comments coincided with the Wednesday announcement from South Korean intelligence that North Korean troops had begun combat operations against Ukrainian forces in Kursk – just weeks after the U.S. warned that some 8,000 North Korean soldiers had been moved to the region where Ukraine opened offensive operations in August.

Blinken called the development "very significant and very negative" as it "increases the threat to security and stability in Europe, but also in the Asia Pacific region."

The secretary argued North Korea’s direct combat operations against Ukraine indicates that adversarial nations like Russia, North Korea and Iran are increasingly becoming jointly embroiled in malign activity across the globe.

"I think we see increasingly the indivisibility and security between the Euro-Atlantic Theater, the Indo-Pacific, Asia-Pacific theaters, even the Middle East, with the role that Iran plays," Blinken said, noting the U.S. and its NATO allies are "very focused on this."

Ukraine’s foreign minister echoed Blinken’s warnings and argued "the future of Transatlantic and global security is being decided in Ukraine."

Sybiha highlighted Russia’s latest strike against Kyiv overnight on Tuesday, in which a combination of drones and missiles targeted the capital city for the first time since August. Though civilians were forced to seek shelter in the underground train stations, no causalities have been reported.

"Russia is using Iranian drones…and North Korean troops to attack Ukraine. It provides assistance to those regions in return," Sybiha said. "This is how this war undermines security in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. This is all linked together.

"If you want to ensure a long-term peace and stability in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, we must force Russia to end its aggression," he added.

Blinken’s time as secretary of state – when he navigated one of the tensest geopolitical periods between the West and its chief adversaries since World War II – is drawing to a close as the incoming Trump administration is set to take the reins come January.

Uncertainty has mounted over how President-elect Donald Trump will handle these complex security situations, in particular, whether Trump will continue military aid to Ukraine, and Blinken said the Biden administration will use its remaining time to bolster defensive aid to Kyiv.

Blinken said the Biden administration will "use every day to continue to do what we have done these last four years, which is strengthen this alliance."

The secretary further pledged to "continue to shore up" aid for Ukraine to ensure it can effectively fight Russian advances over the next year or to position itself to effectively negotiate peace with Moscow.

NBA legend George Karl says league should learn lesson out of Trump's election victory

Legendary NBA head coach George Karl called on the league to take a page out of last week’s election result in which President-elect Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris.

Karl wrote on X on Monday that as the American voters sought change in its leadership in the White House and in Congress, the NBA should start weighing the changes it needs to make when it comes to the product on the court.

"Feelings on Trump aside, the Election last week was a statement on change," he posted. "The League I love and helped build, the NBA, needs to acknowledge the same.

"Fans tell me daily the games are unwatchable. The entertainment has surpassed the sport. The NBA should listen and respond."

Karl’s complaint about the league has been one that the league has faced for several years. Injury management, players resting during back-to-backs or deciding to sit out for the stretch run of the regular season, has been the antithesis of what fans saw in the 1980s and 1990s.

The NBA has attempted to clamp down on some of its stars sitting out with rules on how awards are given out at the end of the season.

A player must participate in at least 65 games to be considered for the MVP and All-NBA teams. Essentially, it will affect players’ bottom line as they could be eligible for supermax contracts if they earn certain accolades.

ESPN noted in January that star players in the 1980s missed an average of 10.4 games per season, and in the 1990s, star players missed an average of 10.6 games per season. The number has reportedly increased to an average of 23.9 missed games per season this decade.

The NBA said in a report that injury management does not necessarily reduce the risk of long-term injuries.

The league and its players will need to come up with a solution as superstar power that would usually bring eyes to regular-season games wanes while players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry enter the twilight of their historic careers.

Former Solicitor General Theodore Olson, conservative lawyer who argued Bush 2000 recount case, dead at 84

Theodore Olson, the former conservative lawyer who argued the 2000 Florida vote-recount case on behalf of President George W. Bush, has died at the age of 84, his firm announced Wednesday.

There was no immediate cause of death given for the former solicitor general, who is also remembered for teaming up with David Boies – his opponent in Bush v. Gore – to help overturn California’s Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriages.

"Ted was a titan of the legal profession and one of the most extraordinary and eloquent advocates of our time," Barbara Becker, chair and managing partner of Gibson Dunn, said in a statement. "He was creative, principled, and fearless -- a trailblazing advocate who cared about all people. We mourn his loss profoundly and send our condolences to his wife Lady, a cherished member of our firm family, and to all of Ted’s loved ones."

The firm said Olson, over his career, "argued 65 cases in the Supreme Court, including the two Bush v. Gore cases arising out of the 2000 presidential election; Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission; Hollingsworth v. Perry, the case upholding the overturning of California’s Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriages; and U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California, successfully challenging the Trump Administration’s rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program."

"Ted’s Supreme Court arguments included cases involving separation of powers; federalism; voting rights; the First Amendment; the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses; patents and copyrights; antitrust; taxation; property rights; punitive damages; the Commerce Clause; immigration; criminal law; securities; telecommunications; the internet; and other federal constitutional and statutory questions," the firm also said.

Olson served as the Justice Department’s assistant attorney general in charge of the Office of Legal Counsel between 1981 and 1984. He later was solicitor general of the U.S. between 2001 and 2004, during Bush’s first administration, according to Gibson Dunn.

In addition to those federal roles, Olson acted as private counsel to Bush and former President Ronald Reagan.

Since 2009, Olson served on the Board of Trustees for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute.

GEORGE W. BUSH OFFERS NO ENDORSEMENT IN 2024 ELECTION

"His wisdom, candor, and willingness to help – no matter how busy he was – made him an invaluable member of the Foundation and Institute’s Board of Trustees," Fred Ryan, the chairman of the board, said in a statement obtained Wednesday by Fox News Digital.

"Ted Olson wasn’t just President Reagan’s attorney – he was his friend and confidant, and that friendship and bond only grew stronger after Ronald Reagan left office," Ryan also said. "The President often credited him for keeping his spirits up when times were tough and President and Mrs. Reagan tried to return the favor when Mr. Olson lost his [former] wife, Barbara, who was onboard the hijacked airplane that crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001."

Gibson Dunn added that Olson "was twice awarded the U.S. Department of Justice’s Edmund J. Randolph Award, its highest award for public service and leadership, and also received the Department of Defense’s Distinguished Service Award, its highest civilian award, for his advocacy in the courts of the United States, including the Supreme Court."

Gibson died at a hospital in Falls Church, Virginia, according to The Washington Post.
