Warning from wildlife officials about venomous snake in New Jersey: 'Never touch it'

Wildlife officials issued a warning in Somerset County, New Jersey, to be on guard for northern copperhead snakes after one of the species was seen last week in Watchung, a Garden State borough that's less than an hour from New York City.

The northern copperhead snake is described as having two shades of copper or a reddish-brown color.

It "inhabits rocky fields, berry thickets, woodlands and farmlands and may even be discovered among old mulch piles," said the N.J. Division of Fish and Wildlife in a "Snakes of New Jersey" publication.

HUNTER OF BELOVED ‘HOLLYWOOD BUCK’ IN VIRGINIA FACES JAIL TIME, LOSES HUNTING LICENSE FOR 25-PLUS YEARS

This species is one of two venomous snakes found in New Jersey, according to the same source.

"There have always been copperheads in the northern half of New Jersey and most people who live in copperhead areas coexist with them without conflict, often without even realizing they are there," said Tyler Christensen, a PhD candidate studying copperheads at Rutgers University’s Department of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

"The best thing a resident can do is learn how to tell copperheads apart from more common nonvenomous snake species — such as water snakes, milk snakes and garter snakes — and understand how to respond if they see a copperhead."

Although the warning was issued for New Jersey, the snakes are prevalent in other parts of the nation.

ULTRA-RARE ‘1-IN-3O-MILLION’ ORANGE LOBSTER RESCUED FROM NEW YORK SUPERMARKET IS RELEASED BACK INTO WILD

Here's a deeper dive.

Copperheads are much less dangerous than their reputation suggests, Christensen told Fox News Digital.

"They are surprisingly calm and docile, relying on their camouflage rather than their venom to defend themselves from predators and humans," he noted.

"A bite is usually delivered as a last-resort defensive effort, and their venom is mild relative to most vipers."

These snakes often blend into their surroundings.

"Copperheads are extremely cryptic (i.e. camouflaged) so they can be very difficult to spot against a background of leaves, brush and twigs," Scott L. Parker, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Biology at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, told Fox News Digital.

Parker warned people to avoid touching or approaching copperhead snakes if these animals are seen or encountered.

"Copperheads don’t want anything to do with humans," he said. They will not attack, and if left alone they will quickly try to escape."

"To avoid accidentally getting bit, don’t put your hands and feet anywhere where you can’t see them, and always wear shoes and use a flashlight when walking outside at dusk or after dark in the summer."

Parker also said, "Millions of people in the eastern U.S., especially in the Southeast, live in close proximity to copperheads and don’t even realize that they are close by."

To prevent possible encounters with copperheads, the University of Virginia provides these tips on its website:

If you encounter a copperhead in a natural setting, in most cases you should simply leave it alone, Christensen at Rutgers University recommended.

"Most bites occur when people try to handle or move the snake by themselves," he added.

"If you are bitten by a copperhead, don’t attempt to capture or kill the snake," he also said.

"Just get yourself to a hospital for treatment."

Texas state representative flips to GOP, says Democrats have plunged into 'progressive abyss'

A Democratic state politician in Texas is flipping to the Republican Party for her final four months in office.

State Rep. Shawn Thierry published a statement to social media on Friday decrying the Democratic Party's march into the "progressive abyss" after she lost her primary for supporting a GOP-led bill protecting minors from gender transition procedures.

"The Democratic Party has veered so far left, so deep into the progressive abyss, that it now champions policies that I cannot, in good conscience, support — policies like promoting sex changes for children during a vulnerable stage of their lives, and dismantling Title IX protections for women in sports," Thierry wrote.

TEXAS RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY BORDER SECURITY UNDER BIDEN-HARRIS ADMIN EXPRESS FEAR OF FUTURE ATTACK

Thierry said because of her break with the values of her party, she will serve her final few months in office as a member of the GOP.

"I now stand with the party of Lincoln, the party that fought to preserve our Union and fought to end the atrocities of slavery," she added.

Thierry lost to primary challenger Lauren Ashley Simmons during a runoff election in May.

TEXAS ANNOUNCES OVER 1M INELIGIBLE VOTERS REMOVED FROM VOTING ROLLS SINCE LAST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

A major factor in her failure within the Democratic Party is believed to have been her support for a 2023 Republican bill that barred gender transition for minors.

"Mothers around our country from all backgrounds, races, and communities understand that it’s our sacred duty to preserve the innocence of our children, protect them from being sexualized, and sterilized," Thierry wrote. "To respect universal truths, and to uphold the rights of biological women as defined by science, nature, and common sense."

"I will not be alone; I will be with millions of courageous women and men of good conscience, who are willing to place people over political ideology," she concluded.

Drew Barrymore regrets posing for 'Playboy' in 'chaste' 1995 shoot, thought it was 'unlikely to resurface'

After more than 40 years of working in Hollywood, Drew Barrymore is bound to have some regrets.

In a "very vulnerable" message posted to Instagram on Friday, the actress and talk show host reflected on her years in the spotlight, how her tumultuous childhood has inspired her parenting today, and the remorse she still feels over her 1995 "Playboy" photo shoot.

"I was around plenty of hedonistic scenarios at parties and even in my own home where the viewing was of highly sensitive natures and caused me tremendous shame," Barrymore wrote in the post titled, PHONE HOME. "We, as kids, are not meant to see these images. And, yes, I was even a big exhibitionist when I was young due to these environments I was in. I thought of it as art, and I still do not judge it."

DREW BARRYMORE’S DAUGHTER USED PLAYBOY COVER AGAINST HER IN ARGUMENT

"But when I did a chaste artistic moment in ‘Playboy’ in my early 20s, I thought it would be a magazine that was unlikely to resurface because it was paper," Barrymore added. "I never knew there would be an internet. I didn't know so many things."

As a mom to two pre-teen daughters (Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10), Barrymore said she's focused on protecting her children "the way I wanted to be protected."

"I wished many times when I was a kid that someone would tell me ‘no,’ I wanted so badly to rebel all the time, and it was because I had no guardrails. I had too much acces and excess, and eventually ‘no’ actually became a challenge."

"I never thought in my wildest dreams that kids would be in my boat of too much excess and access," she added.

Barrymore went on to explain that she was emancipated at 14 years old, at which point she moved into her first apartment.

"I started my life over on my terms. But in a consistent message to myself, I found that there was no one to take care of me," she wrote. "My own mother was lambasted for allowing me to get so out of control. I have so much empathy for her now, because I am a mother. And none of us is perfect."

"Now that I am a mother, I cannot believe I am in a world that I know correlates to my own personal pitfalls and many of my peers who got into too much, too soon. Kids are not supposed to be exposed to this much. Kids are supposed to be protected. Kids are supposed to hear NO."

Barrymore further discussed the toxicity that can come from group texts.

"We must protect our children from being put in scenarios where they cannot always control the rhetoric of the multiple-party dynamics that get put on record on a cloud only to potentially haunt them one day," she wrote.

"I messed up in public when I was 13, and people were shocked," she added. "I was on the cover of the ‘National Enquirer’ and every other magazine as a washed-up tragedy. And I thought that would be my narrative forever. I wanted to disappear from the planet and never show my face again."

7 TIMES DREW BARRYMORE KEPT IT REAL ABOUT BODY IMAGE, ACTING AND LIFE

"But I put one foot in front of the other and put my life back on track, only to make more mistakes along the way, but that is life," she continued. "We make mistakes. And people have been so kind to me. Forgiven me. And cheered me on as I grew up."

"So yeah, it is also my karma and life's work to cheer people on right back!" Barrymore concluded. "We all fall and rise. Over and over. Life's roller coaster. And what a beautiful ride it is."

Vladimir Putin to make first ICC member state visit since arrest warrant issued for alleged child abduction

The Kremlin has dismissed concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming trip to Mongolia, which will expose him to arrest under a criminal court warrant.

"There are no worries, we have a great dialogue with our friends from Mongolia," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday, according to the Moscow Times. He added that "all aspects of the visit were carefully prepared."

The attention to Putin’s latest trip derives from the fact that Mongolia is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which in March 2023 issued an arrest warrant for Putin over alleged involvement in the abduction of Ukrainian children.

Putin has carefully avoided visiting countries that are signatories of the Rome Statute, thus making them subject to ICC jurisdiction. Russia – along with other major nations such as the U.S., China, India and Israel – are not signatories and thus do not answer to the ICC, but any visit to a Rome Statute signatory would subject Putin to arrest.

The concern came to the fore during his planned trip to South Africa to attend a BRICS economic bloc conference: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa tried to dodge the issue, reiterating Russia’s declaration that an arrest would be tantamount to "a declaration of war."

"It would be inconsistent with our Constitution to risk engaging in war with Russia," Ramaphosa said at the time.

RUSSIA LOOKS TO DOWNPLAY UKRAINE INVASION AS ‘NEW NORMAL’ WHILE PUTIN FAILS TO STOP WAR ON HOME TURF: REPORT

Putin ultimately decided against attending the BRICS conference in person, instead sending his foreign minister Sergei Lavrov to attend in his place.

Now, Putin plans to visit Mongolia – a Rome Statute signatory – on Sept. 3 at the invitation of the Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, to celebrate the 85th anniversary of a joint military victory over the Japanese forces.

RUSSIA FACES ‘DIFFICULT FIGHT’ TO RETAKE UKRAINE-HELD AREA, SAYS TOP US SPY

The two leaders will also hold talks about developing "comprehensive strategic partnerships" and sign "a number of bilateral documents," according to a statement from the Kremlin.

Ukraine responded to the news of Putin’s visit by calling on Mongolian officials to adhere to their ICC commitments and follow through on Putin’s arrest

In a statement, Ukraine referred to Putin as a war criminal and stressed that kidnapping children is just "one of the many crimes" that Putin has committed since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

"These individuals are guilty of an aggressive war against Ukraine, atrocities against the Ukrainian people," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry wrote in a post on Telegram.

"We call on the Mongolian authorities to execute the mandatory international arrest warrant and hand over Putin to the International Criminal Court in The Hague," the ministry added.

Pro-lifers blast Trump 'betrayal' with shifting abortion stance, answer on Florida Amendment 4

Former President Donald Trump's latest comments on abortion, including his opposition to Florida's ban on abortions after six weeks' gestation, have sparked backlash from pro-life advocates on social media.

"Trump has destroyed both the conservative movement and the pro-life movement. He’s done what even Barack Obama couldn’t do," one user on X said.

Former Vice President Mike Pence also posted to X, saying, "I'm pro-life. I don't apologize for it."

HARRIS REPEATS DEBUNKED CLAIM TRUMP WANTS TO 'BAN' ABORTION DURING FIRST CAMPAIGN RALLY SINCE BIDEN QUIT RACE

Georgia-based nationally syndicated radio host Erick Erickson also slammed Trump's comments, saying on X, "Instead of having all the focus on the Kamala Harris interview tonight, Trump decided to further divide the GOP. Not a good strategy for winning."

Other users expressed anger over Trump's "betrayal" of the pro-life movement, which helped elect him in 2016.

"If Pro-lifers had a spine and punished Trump for his betrayal by staying home in November, he would lose so badly that no Republican would ever dare to betray you on such an important issue," one X user said. "Sadly, he knows most of you will still vote for him so the betrayals will intensify."

Online political influencer and former police officer John Cardillo said he would be voting for Trump, but would "criticize him when he promotes Democrat policies."

"I don’t care how you spin it. Trump told NBC he’s voting for a Soros funded unrestricted abortion amendment in FL," he wrote on X.

JD VANCE VOWS TRUMP WOULD NOT IMPOSE FEDERAL ABORTION BAN, VETO IT IF IT COMES ACROSS HIS DESK

A spokesperson for Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — who unsuccessfully challenged Trump in the 2024 primaries and who signed the ban into law — also responded to Trump's indication that he may vote in favor of Amendment 4, which would enshrine a constitutional right to abortion in Florida.

"Donald Trump has consistently stated that late-term abortions where a baby can feel pain should never be permitted, and he's always stood up for parents' rights. Amendment 4 would allow late-term abortions, eliminate parental consent, and open the door to taxpayer-funded abortions," Taryn Fenske said on X.  "It's extreme and must be defeated."

Conservative commentator David Limbaugh, brother of the late conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, said he "wholeheartedly" supports Trump, but that he "needs some ardent pro-lifers in his campaign-advisory inner circle."

REP. MAXINE WATERS DODGES QUESTION ON CONTROVERSIAL ABORTION PROCEDURE

"Unforced errors are worse than run of the mill errors. Appeasement strategies that alienate more supporters than impress non-supporters are just plain disappointing," he said on X.

Last week, Trump also upset anti-abortion activists when he posted on his Truth Social platform, "My Administration will be great for women and their reproductive rights." He has also indicated he would not restrict access to abortion prescriptions.

This election cycle, Trump has countered Democratic attacks by stating he would leave abortion access to the states, as determined by the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and opposes a federal abortion ban. The Republican Party also abandoned its long-standing position of advocating for abortion limits in July. However, Trump has remained opposed to late-term abortions.

On Thursday, Trump also said he would subsidize federal IVF treatments, despite saying abortion would be considered a state issue. The Trump campaign did not directly respond to what constitutes a state issue versus a federal one when asked via email.

TRUMP RISKS LOSING SOME PRO-LIFE VOTERS UNLESS HE CHANGES 'HIS TUNE' ON ABORTION, ACTIVIST WARNS

"I think the six-week is too short, there has to be more time," Trump told an NBC News reporter when asked how he will vote on Florida's Amendment 4 that will appear on the ballot for November elections. "I've told them that I want more weeks," he continued.

The reporter then pressed if Trump would vote in favor of the amendment.

"I am going to be voting that we need more than six weeks. Look, just so you understand, everybody wanted Roe v. Wade terminated for years, 52 years. I got it done. They wanted it to go back to the states. Exceptions are very important for me, for Ronald Reagan, for others that have navigated this very, very interesting and difficult path," Trump responded.

The Trump campaign told Fox News Digital on Thursday evening that the 45th president has not yet revealed how he will vote on Amendment 4.

"President Trump has not yet said how he will vote on the ballot initiative in Florida, he simply reiterated that he believes six weeks is too short," Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

Bryan Kohberger returns to Idaho court to argue for change of venue hearing in student murders case

Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohbeger will return to the Latah County, Idaho, courthouse on Tuesday for a hearing to argue whether his trial venue location should be changed.

His defense team is arguing that a "mob mentality" within Latah County, where Kohberger is accused of brutally murdering four University of Idaho students in their home in November 2022, will result in an unfair jury selection and therefore an unfair trial for the 29-year-old defendant.

"The pressure to convict Bryan Kohberger is so severe that Latah County survey respondents said if he wasn’t convicted: ‘They’d burn the courthouse down. Outrage would be a mild description,’" court filings submitted by the defense last week state, citing quotes from people within the community who were surveyed on the matter. "'They would probably find him and kill him.' ‘There would likely be a riot and he wouldn’t last long outside because someone would do the good ole’ boy justice.’ ‘Enraged strong opinions. Firing of officers.’ ‘Riots, parents would take care of him.’"

Kohberger's defense team is also citing a heavy media presence in Latah County, noting that there are currently 1,300 media stories about the University of Idaho murders.

BRYAN KOHBERGER TRIAL SET TO BEGIN JUNE 2025 IN IDAHO MURDERS CASE

Kohberger — a former criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University in nearby Pullman, Washington — is charged with four counts of murder and burglary after he allegedly stabbed 20-year-old Xana Kernodle, 20-year-old Ethan Chapin, 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves and 21-year-old Madison Mogen with a KA-BAR knife in the early morning hours of Nov. 13, 2022.

FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X

Kohberger was arrested in late December 2022 at his family home in Pennsylvania. His trial is scheduled for no later than the summer of 2025. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

"The media coverage inundating Latah County does not tell citizens that no evidence has been presented at this time; that there are no facts on the record at this time; that Bryan Kohberger is innocent; that only a jury decides what the facts are and whether the facts show beyond a reasonable doubt [that] a person is guilty," his defense team wrote.

The defense brought several experts to the witness stand on Thursday to explain how a Latah County jury could be too bias to determine a verdict in Kohberger's case.

The first witness, Todd Murphy, President of media analysis company Truescope North America, explained several graphs showing how more people in Latah County compared to Ada County, Idaho, or other areas across the country would be more exposed to news about Kohberger. Murphy also said he does not believe news about Kohberger is getting any less intense as time goes on, particularly when significant updates or hearings occur.

"This type of story will remain online and be of interest, up to and beyond the conclusion of this case," he said.

Jim Jordan subpoenas company led by daughter of NY v Trump judge

FIRST ON FOX: House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is issuing a subpoena for information on the political work conducted by the daughter of New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan.

Jordan sent a letter to Michael Nellis, the founder and CEO of Authentic Campaigns – a company that's done political work for top Democratic clients like President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris – accusing him of failing to comply with House investigators' demands for any and all documents related to the prosecution of former President Trump.

The committee wrote to Loren Merchan, the company's president and Judge Merchan's daughter, earlier this month requesting documents in its probe into Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's case against Trump.

Jordan pointed out in his Wednesday letter that Nellis himself rejected that request as well as a subsequent one later in the month.

JORDAN INVESTIGATES DAUGHTER OF JUDGE IN NY V. TRUMP CASE OVER HER WORK FOR KAMALA HARRIS, DEMOCRATS

"As such, the Committee is left with no choice but to resort to compulsory process," Jordan wrote. "Popularly elected prosecutors, such as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, have engaged in an unprecedented abuse of authority by prosecuting a former President of the United States and current nominee for that office. Of relevance to the Committee’s oversight is the impartiality of Judge Juan Merchan, the presiding trial judge, due to his refusal to recuse himself from the case in light of his apparent conflicts of interest and biases."

"One such conflict is Ms. Merchan’s—daughter of Judge Merchan and President of Authentic Campaigns—work on behalf of President Trump’s political adversaries and the possible financial benefit that Ms. Merchan and Authentic Campaigns received from the prosecution and conviction of President Trump."

Jordan said public reports indicated to him that both Nellis and Loren Merchan were "closely involved in the presidential campaigns of both President Biden and Vice President Harris."

'ELECTION INTERFERENCE': TRUMP LAWYERS CALL FOR DELAYED SENTENCING IN BRAGG CASE

"During Ms. Merchan’s employment with the Harris campaign, Authentic Campaigns received over $7 million in compensation for its services. You also worked for then-presidential candidate Harris and it appears you continue to do so. Authentic Campaigns conducted work for the 2020 Biden-Harris campaign and, according to public records, was paid just over $2 million in a one-month period for its work," he wrote.

The subpoena is narrower in scope than Jordan's previous request for information. His Aug. 1 letter demanded Loren Merchan hand over documents related to any work for Biden and Harris, in addition to any work that refers to Trump's prosecution or indictment.

Jordan is giving Nellis until Sept. 13 to comply, according to the subpoena viewed by Fox News Digital.

BRAGG DOES 'NOT OPPOSE' TRUMP REQUEST TO DELAY SENTENCING; AWAITS JUDGE MERCHAN'S APPROVAL

Republicans have accused Judge Merchan of political bias over his daughter's political work. Trump's legal team asked Merchan to recuse himself before the trial began, which he did not.

A New York state ethics panel backed Merchan's decision in a June 2023 decision.

Jordan argued in his letter, however, "Judge Merchan’s conflicts of interest and biases in the case against President Trump, the Republican nominee in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, implicate serious federal interests."

"Congress has a specific and manifestly important interest in preventing politically motivated prosecutions of current and former presidents, especially in venues in which real or perceived biases exist. Among other things, if state or local prosecutors are able to engage in politically motivated prosecutions of Presidents of the United States (current or former) for personal acts, this could have a profound effect on how presidents choose to exercise their powers while in office," the letter said.

Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to claims he paid an adult film actress to keep quiet about their affair – which the ex-president has denied. His lawyers are appealing that ruling in light of the Supreme Court's July decision fleshing out presidential immunity.

His sentencing hearing is currently scheduled for Sept. 18.

5 ways to beat your 3pm workday slump, according to an expert

A career expert is weighing in on what you can do to beat your need for a nap at 3 p.m. — especially during the workday.

As summer comes to a close, keeping up stamina on the job can be difficult. Some opt for a caffeine refreshment, while others might go for a quick walk.

But Kirsten Moorefield, a co-founder of Cloverleaf, an "automated coaching" company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, shared some other tips to beat the slump. The thought leader and TEDx speaker told Fox News Digital that the 3 p.m. slump "doesn’t have to be a productivity killer.

6 ENERGY BOOSTERS TO HELP BEAT THE MIDDAY SLUMP, FROM A NUTRITION EXPERT

She said, "By understanding what makes you uniquely you and making a few strategic adjustments, you can turn that afternoon dip into a time of renewed focus and creativity."

Moorefield said that understanding your personal wiring can be extremely helpful in getting through the day.

"One of the biggest reasons for that afternoon crash is that we’re often working against our natural strengths," Moorefield said.

ALWAYS FEELING TIRED? EXPERTS SHARE 4 COMMON CAUSES OF DAYTIME FATIGUE

"Maybe you’re a morning person who’s already used up your peak energy, or perhaps your tasks are misaligned with how your brain works best," she said.

The career coaching expert recommended really getting to know your unique wiring in order to create reminders throughout the day to help with productivity.

"Ever noticed how crossing off even the smallest task can give you a burst of energy?" said Moorefield.

SHOULD YOU DRINK COFFEE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, OR WAIT A WHILE? EXPERTS REVEAL CAFFEINE GUIDANCE

"That’s because small wins create a sense of accomplishment, which can reignite your motivation when it’s waning."

She recommended trying to tackle a quick work task when your 3 p.m. slump hits in order to shift your energy back on track for the rest of the day.

Keeping a few of those quick tasks handy in terms of your daily planning can also be beneficial in the long run, she said.

"If you thrive on social interaction, sometimes the best way to beat the slump is to connect with another person," she said.

Connecting with others can be as simple as taking five minutes to check in with a teammate — whether the conversation is about work or not.

For more Lifestyle articles, visit www.foxnews/lifestyle

Moorefield said, "Social interactions can also provide a fresh perspective or a much-needed laugh, both of which can shake off the afternoon fog and get you ready to dive back into work."

Another way to beat the 3 p.m. slump can be to simply stand up and change your environment for a minute.

"If you’re feeling stuck, try moving to a different room, stepping outside for a few minutes, or even just standing up and stretching," Moorefield recommended.

She added, "Our brains crave variety, and staying in the same environment for too long can contribute to that sluggish feeling."

Sometimes the best way to break your afternoon slump is to briefly step away from your tasks, Moorefield said.

"Whether you stretch, meditate or simply close your eyes and breathe, these short breaks can help clear your mind and reduce fatigue," she said.

"When you return, you’ll likely find that your focus is sharper, and you’re ready to tackle the rest of the day with renewed energy."

Overall, Moorefield said to remember that staying focused isn’t simply about pushing through.

Rather, it’s about "working with your natural strengths and giving yourself the tools you need to succeed."

Ravens offensive line coach Joe D'Alessandris dead at 70

Baltimore Ravens offensive line coach Joe D'Alessandris died early Sunday, the team announced. He was 70.

"’Joe D.' lived a life of boundless faith, love, devotion and inspiration. As a husband, father, grandfather, friend and coach, Joe made every individual he encountered truly feel like they were the most important person in the world.

"Anyone fortunate enough to have spent time with Joe was forever touched by his genuine and uplifting nature. He had the amazingly rare ability to connect with people in a way that deepened respect, empathy and kindness – further spreading those important virtues into the everyday life of the world.

"'Force multiplier' is a football term sometimes used to describe an individual who makes everyone around him better. As a coach, he was certainly that. But far more importantly, it's also a proper characterization of Joe D'Alessandris as a person – someone who undoubtedly created a legacy of love and impact that will live on forever.

COWBOYS' ALL-PRO CORNERBACK DARON BLAND TO MISS CHUNK OF SEASON AFTER RECORD-SETTING 2023 CAMPAIGN

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joe's family – particularly his three incredible daughters – during this somber time. Now reunited with his late and precious wife, Toni, we know they are smiling down from above and blessing everyone they dearly love."

D’Alessandris was a longtime coach in pro and college football. He started as a graduate assistant at Western Carolina in 1977 and got his first full-time job as offensive line coach at Livingston (now West Alabama) in 1979. He worked his way up the organizational ladder for several years.

He got his first assistant offensive line coach NFL job in 2008 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He then made his way to the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers and later the Ravens in 2017.

"Coach 'Joe D.' was a man of integrity and a man of faith," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said in a statement. "He made us all better. He was our reader at team Mass, and he was loved by all here.

"He was a great coach and a good man – the kind of person who you are honored to have as a friend. He raised three incredible, beautiful daughters, and he was a most loving husband. His grandkids also adored him. I admired him, loved him and am going to miss him, because 'Joe D.' was a joy. Toni has him back now. May God bless 'Joe D.' forever."

D’Alessandris’ career also spanned two stints in the Canadian Football League and two years in the World League of American Football.

CHARGERS' DERWIN JAMES JR SAYS JIM HARBAUGH WOULD 'DIE ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD': 'HE'S THAT MUCH IN IT'

According to WFAA, 15 people were stranded in the elevator of The Westin hotel in downtown Dallas. Officials told the outlet that the elevator became stuck in a "blind shaft" somewhere between the third and fifteenth floors.

There were no reported injuries, and the Charges did not identify anyone involved in the incident.

Under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers have gone winless in the preseason.

15-year-old arrested in connection with knife attack at German festival, terror motive investigated

Police in Germany say they have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a deadly stabbing spree at a festival on Friday that left three people dead and eight others injured, officials said at a Saturday news conference.

The boy was detained following the horrific attack in the Fronhof, a market square in Solingen which is located near Cologne and Duesseldorf in the west of the country.

Police say he was suspected of knowing about the planned attack and failed to inform authorities, but he is not the attacker and the perpetrator is still at large.

Prosecutor Markus Caspers said that the 15-year-old boy was arrested after two female witnesses contacted police. The witnesses said they had listened to a conversation between the boy and an unknown person before the attack, speaking about intentions that corresponded to the events that followed.

GERMAN RIGHT WING CANDIDATE STABBED IN LATEST ATTACK AHEAD OF ELECTIONS

Caspers said that police are looking at a terror motive, adding that there’s no other obvious motive and that the attacker appears to be unknown to the victims. Police said there was no specific terror threat before the festival.

The victims were in front of a stage enjoying a live music band playing to mark the town's 650-year anniversary when the attack occurred at around 9:35 p.m. local time Friday.

The three people who died were two men aged 67 and 56 and a 56-year-old woman, authorities said. Police said the attacker appeared to have deliberately aimed for his victims’ throats.

Thorsten Fleiss from the German police, who was the chief of operations on Friday night, said that police are conducting various searches and investigations in the entire state of North Rhine-Westphalia that will continue throughout the day.

Police cordoned off the square on Saturday and passers-by placed candles and flowers outside the barriers.

GERMAN POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS STABBED BY AFGHAN IMMIGRANT HAS DIED

Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote on X late last night that the incident was a "terrible event that has shocked me greatly."

An attacker has brutally killed several people… The perpetrator must be quickly caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law," Scholz wrote.

In a translated social media post late Friday, the city’s mayor, Tim Kurzbach, said that they are in "shock" following the attack

"Tonight we are all in Solingen in shock, fright and great sadness," he wrote. "We all wanted to celebrate our city anniversary together, and now we have to mourn the dead and injured. Breaks my heart that there was an assassination attack on our town."

Fatal stabbings and shootings are relatively uncommon in Germany. The government said earlier this month it wanted to toughen rules on knives that can be carried in public.

In May, an Afghan migrant went on a stabbing spree in Mannheim, which is located in the southwest of Germany, where he wounded an anti-Islam activist and several others, including a police officer who died. Days later, a member of the German right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD) was stabbed in the city while canvassing for election.

The violence comes ahead of three state elections next month in Thuringia, Saxony and Brandenburg, in which the anti-mass immigration right wing party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), has a chance of winning.

Though the motive and identity of the assailant were not known, a top AfD candidate for one of the state elections, Bjoern Hoecke, seized on Friday's attack, posting on X: "Do you really want to get used to this? Free yourselves and end this insanity of forced multiculturalism".

Pro-Palestinian group 'Abandon Biden' changes to 'Abandon Harris' ahead of election

"Abandon Biden" is now "Abandon Harris."

The pro-Palestinian group opposing the Democratic Party announced on Friday that its members were "now mobilizing under the banner of 'Abandon Harris.'"

"While we will keep the registered name of Abandon Biden, our mission is now laser-focused on exposing and opposing Kamala Harris and her complicity in genocide," the statement from the group explained. "We call on all people of conscience to join us in holding the Democratic Party accountable for the bloodshed in Gaza."

HARRIS TRIES TO THREAD ISRAEL, GAZA NEEDLE WITH ANTI-ISRAEL AGITATORS A CONSTANT PRESENCE AT DNC

"The DNC's recent actions have only confirmed what we've been saying all along: the Democratic Party has no interest in ending the genocide in Gaza," the group continued. "They are not mere bystanders; they are active participants in this brutal, unforgivable violence."

Abandon Harris is part of a larger movement on the left opposing the Democratic Party due to its continued support of Israel in the Jewish state's war against Hamas in Gaza.

Anti-Israel demonstrators expressed their discontent with Harris' campaign throughout this week's Democratic National Convention with marches, protests, and demonstrations against speakers.

CHICAGO DNC: ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTS ERUPT AS KAMALA HARRIS SPEAKS ON FINAL NIGHT OF CONVENTION

The Democratic presidential nominee attempted to extend an olive branch to the anti-Israel protesters during her speech at the convention, telling the crowd that President Biden's administration is "working around the clock because now is the time to get a hostage deal and a cease-fire deal done."

"And let me be clear – I will always stand up for Israel's right to defend itself, and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, because the people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused on Oct. 7."

At the same time, Harris said, "what has happened in Gaza over the past 10 months is devastating," referring to the war casualties of innocent Palestinian people.

In July, Harris met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reiterate the administration's support for Israel, while also expressing her "serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation there." There was an apparent cease-fire deal also discussed at the time.

Douglas Emhoff is a 'progressive sex symbol’ and ‘modern female fantasy,’ Washington Post columnist fawns

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff is the type of "progressive sex symbol" modern women want, a liberal Washington Post columnist argued in her column published Friday.

"Move over, Ryan Gosling. The modern female fantasy is embodied by the man who might soon become our first First Gentleman,"Catherine Rampell wrote.

Since Gov. Tim Walz joined the 2024 Democratic ticket, media figures and Harris supporters have argued that Walz and Emhoff embrace a more modern version of masculinity that men should aspire to.

In leaving his prestigious law career to support Vice President Harris after the 2020 presidential race, Emhoff showed he was the kind of "fantasy man" women dream about, Rampell claimed in her column.

‘MASCULINITY IS ON THE BALLOT’: COMPETING VISIONS OF BEING A MAN IN AMERICA AT CENTER OF TRUMP-HARRIS MATCHUP

"Emhoff appears to be a genuine mensch with an impressive career. He’s smitten with his wife and supports her ambitions, as is obvious from his convention speech and their sweet interactions on the campaign trail," she continued. "But most important for this sexy sobriquet: Emhoff is secure enough with his own masculinity to sometimes prioritize his wife’s ambitions over his own."

"What. A. Hunk," she praised.

Rampell dismissed questions about Emhoff's role model husband status after he recently admitted to an extramarital affair that ended his first marriage.

"Whatever his previous marital drama, that makes him the working woman’s ideal partner today: He’s a high-achieving alpha, but isn’t threatened if his wife is, too," the columnist continued her argument. "He loves his job, but he loves his wife more. He knows that ‘supporting’ one’s family is about more than financial support, and that temporarily setting aside his own professional ego makes him no less of a man."

DEMS MOCKED AS ‘LOW-T SOY BOYS’ AFTER CNN ANCHOR SAYS DNC APPEALS TO OPPOSITE OF 'TESTOSTERONE-LADEN MEN'

The columnist argued that the Democrats' version of masculinity stands in sharp contrast to Republicans' version of manliness.

"Women at least want a mate who won’t resent their career success — a tangible concern, given that divorce has been statistically more likely when women received job promotions or outearn their husbands. Hence, the Emhoffian ‘wife guy’ fantasy. Which, needless to say, sharply contrasts with conservatives’ portrayal of manliness," she argued.

"Instead of helping men appreciate how they fit into their evolving families and communities today, Trump offers sexist name-calling and weaponized nostalgia. 'Make America Great Again' means returning to a 1950s-era economy, with its attendant gender (and racial) roles," she scolded.

What women actually want is "to be valued and supported as much as they deserve," by their husbands in private and public, she wrote. "On that score, Emhoff looks like a dreamboat."

Rampell isn't the only media figure making this case. CNN anchor Dana Bash recently said that Democrats are trying to appeal to men who might not be as masculine as their Republican counterparts.

"But they are doing so in trying to put forward male figures, Tim Walz being one of them, Doug Emhoff last night, who can speak to men out there who might not be the sort of testosterone-laden, you know, gun-toting kind of guy who wants to listen to Hulk Hogan and the kind of players that came out at the RNC or might want to listen to that," she said.

ESPN analyst Mina Kimes also praised Walz's "different kind of masculinity" in comments last week.

"We’re kind of seeing it in the NFL with the Kelces, and Dan Campbell – this idea that ‘big, tough football guy’ isn’t separate from showing emotion and empathy," Kimes said on Pablo Torre's podcast. "Yes, they’re calling him ‘coach’ and what not, but in the same breath, they are emphasizing, ‘this man, the year he was a football coach, also ran the gay-straight alliance at the high school.’ That’s really powerful in a way that goes far beyond politics and electability, which is the discussion we’re having. There are very few models like that in American public life."

‘What is brain fog — and when should I seek medical attention?’: Ask a doctor

Most people have had brief lapses of memory — forgetting a train of thought, a driving route or maybe a word choice.

In most cases, these episodes last only a few seconds and are nothing to worry about — but if they persist, it may warrant getting a doctor's input.

For a clearer understanding of what defines this condition — often referred to as "brain fog" — Fox News Digital asked two medical doctors about recognizing the symptoms and when to seek medical attention.

AMID CONCERNS ABOUT BIDEN’S MENTAL ACUITY, EXPERTS REVEAL HOW COGNITIVE TESTS WORK AND WHAT THEY REVEAL

Brain fog represents a "set of symptoms persons can experience due to impairments in brain functions, such as thinking, memory, information processing, storage and retrieval, decision-making, paying attention and performing tasks, among others," Irene M. Estores, MD, an associate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, told Fox News Digital.

DEMENTIA WARNING: DON'T EVER SAY THESE 16 THINGS TO LOVED ONES WITH THE DISEASE, EXPERTS ADVISE

The markers and indicators of brain fog can range from feeling suddenly confused about a familiar task or just feeling out of sorts mentally.

"A person may experience difficulty staying on task, inability to focus, forgetfulness or problems finding the right words," said Estores.

"They may also struggle to follow simple instructions or remember new information."

Other symptoms may include feeling confused and dazed, or being physically present but feeling mentally absent, according to Estores.

Although each person is different, there are some common causes of brain fog, medical experts say.

Just a single night of poor shuteye can have negative cognitive effects, so a compounded lack of sleep can surely be a culprit of brain fog, Estores noted.

GOING TO BED AFTER THIS TIME COULD LEAD TO POORER MENTAL HEALTH, A STANFORD STUDY FINDS

"Sleep is key to the consolidation of memory, specifically long-term memory," she said.

"It also affects working memory, attention and decision-making, by affecting the activity of neural circuits in the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, basal ganglia, thalamus and parietal lobes."

People who experience chronic stressful events — such as pain, emotional and mental trauma, and social isolation — may notice cognitive effects, said Estores.

Pain medications and co-existing conditions, such as sleep disorders and depression, can also trigger or worsen brain fog.

Underlying medical conditions — such as some degenerative diseases, like dementia and Parkinson’s — and metabolic conditions, like diabetes or hypertension, can cause brain fog, according to Estores.

Trauma or infection can also play a role.

For those who are experiencing symptoms associated with brain fog, the first step is to practice good "brain health," according to Glen R. Finney, MD, professor of neurology at the Geisinger College of Health Sciences in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Healthy cognitive habits include maintaining good sleep hygiene, getting adequate exercise, striving for a healthy diet, staying hydrated and limiting stress.

"If that isn’t enough to improve things, let your primary care provider know what you’re experiencing, and they can review your medications and examine you for signs of medical causes, like autoimmune conditions," Finney told Fox News Digital.

"Also, some people with persistent brain fog may benefit from cognitive rehabilitation with a speech language pathologist, occupational therapist or psychologist," he added.

If medical evaluation is suggested, imaging tests — like a CT or MRI scan — as well as vascular studies (tests that check the blood flow in the veins and arteries) can be used to diagnose any existing conditions, Estores noted.

Doctors may also recommend screening for co-existing diseases and conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, depression, anxiety and sleep disorders, she added.

While feelings of brain fog can be frustrating or sometimes scary, Finney noted that practicing good brain health and talking with your primary care provider can likely help put your mind at ease.

Washington Post columnist admits fact-checkers were ‘ineffective’ in Trump era: Confused ‘opinion with fact'

Washington Post columnist Meghan McArdle ripped the community of fact-checkers who have tried to hold former President Trump accountable during his political career, admitting they’ve ultimately failed to hamper his support and have hurt their own institutions.

The author, a staunch critic of Trump, accused those of trying to prevent the spread of Trump’s "disinformation" of being arrogant and mistaking their own opinion with objective fact. She even accused them of censorship. All of this, she wrote, has ultimately led to voters questioning them and other institutions more than they’ve ever questioned the former president.

"After eight years of all-out disinformation warfare, Trump’s approval ratings are holding up better than public trust in academia and journalism," McArdle lamented.

STEPHEN COLBERT'S NEW YORK CITY AUDIENCE LAUGHS AFTER HE PRAISES CNN'S OBJECTIVITY

The columnist began her piece by describing the idealized mission of the Trump era fact-checkers, saying they "devote themselves to checking the internet for bad facts and bad actors — and especially for the malevolent impulses of Trump."

However, they didn’t save the world in her estimation. At best, they dinged Trump on some of his bragging and, at worst, they censored true facts in their thirst to correct him.

"Some of their efforts have been useful, including their fact-checking of Trump’s more frenetic flights of fancy," she said, adding, "But the larger effort has been repeatedly marred when the disinformation experts have acted as censors, suppressing information that turned out to be true and spreading information that was false."

McArdle provided some of the major examples of this suppression, examples that most of the media participated in at the behest of these fact-checkers.

"Recall when it was ‘misinformation’ to suggest the pandemic might have started in a Wuhan lab. Recollect how a bevy of putative experts assured us that Hunter Biden’s laptop was probably a ‘Russian information operation’ rather than … Hunter Biden’s laptop."

STEPHEN COLBERT'S NEW YORK CITY AUDIENCE LAUGHS AFTER HE PRAISES CNN'S OBJECTIVITY

She added a more recent one, stating, "If these memories have faded, remember that just a couple months ago, we were hearing that videos of President Joe Biden’s obvious decline were actually expert-certified ‘cheap fakes.’"

The author even noted that after each of these fact-checks blew up in the experts’ faces, they would learn some "humility." "And each time, they have reemerged, unchastened," she said.

McArdle also brought up how European Union Commissioner Thierry Breton stepped in it when he tried to slam Elon Musk with a "huffily worded and, as it turned out, unapproved letter" after the X owner allowed Trump’s so-called misinformation to spread on X during their lengthy interview on Monday night.

"For Breton’s interference made no difference; Musk quite rightly went ahead with his show, and what followed was more dangerous to the Trump campaign than it was to democracy," the columnist said.

She concluded, "The episode sums up all the ways in which the ‘disinformation’ specialty has gone wrong with Trump: the arrogance, the confusion of opinion with legal or empirical fact, the destroy-the-village-in-order-to-save-it attempts to shore up democracy by clamping down on political speech. Not to mention the ineffectiveness of it all."

Graham urges Trump to focus on policy against Harris, warns 'showman' might not win

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., says policy is the GOP's key to the White House, and urges former President Trump to focus on that rather than his opponent.

"Donald Trump, President Trump, can win this election," Graham said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "His policies are good for America. And if you have a policy debate for president, he wins. Donald Trump, the provocateur, the showman may not win this election."

The response followed a question by host Kristen Welker on whether Trump should stop making personal remarks about Vice President Harris regarding characteristics like race and intelligence.

"I'm looking for President Trump to show up in the last 80 days to define what he will do for our country, to fix broken borders, to lower inflation," Graham continued. "The numbers that Americans are living with under Harris-Biden, a terrible 50% increase in gas prices, mortgage rates going through the roof, grocery costs are really high. That's what I would focus on. Policy. Policy is the key to the White House."

SOUTH CAROLINA SENATOR WARNS TRUMP TO FOCUS ON HARRIS’ ‘DANGEROUS LIBERAL’ RECORD, NOT HERITAGE

The GOP senator offered similar advice two weeks ago while on "Fox News Sunday."

"So, here's what I would say to President Trump. The problem I have with Kamala Harris is not her heritage, it's her judgment," Graham said. "She has been wrong about everything. When she tried to explain what she would do about inflation and an upcoming recession, it made no sense. It's gibberish."

WHITE HOUSE FIRES BACK AFTER TRUMP ANSWERS QUESTION ABOUT HARRIS BEING CALLED A ‘DEI HIRE’

Trump posted an image of Harris’ birth certificate on Truth Social after receiving a lot of criticism for remarks he made during a Q&A session at the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago.

"She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage," the former president said during the Q&A. "I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now, she wants to be known as Black. So, I don't know. Is she Indian or is she Black?"

Both Harris and Trump campaigned this weekend in battleground Pennsylvania.

Harris is expected to formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination at the 2024 Democratic National Convention this week in Chicago.

Bears' Caleb Williams knows how special connection with fellow rookie Rome Odunze will be: 'Explosive'

The Chicago Bears used precious draft capital on two Top 10 picks in April, and they’re already starting to showcase why they were so highly thought of.

No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and his lofty expectations have all the bright lights on him whenever he touches the field, including Saturday against the Buffalo Bills for his second preseason action.

And while he had a tremendous scrambling touchdown that wowed the crowd in upstate New York, there was also his fellow first-round teammate, wide receiver Rome Odunze, making an impact for Chicago.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Williams' biggest gain on a pass play so far this preseason came on Saturday, when he fired a ball deep downfield on the run to Odunze for a 45-yard gain.

It was a perfect route and a perfect throw that got the Bears fired up, and Williams almost had Odunze catch his first touchdown of the preseason, though his feet were not in bounds when he made the grab later in the drive.

Either way, NFL fans got to see what this rookie connection could look like this season with Williams and Odunze building a rapport. The signal caller already knows it’s going to be special.

CALEB WILLIAMS, AARON RODGERS HEADLINE ‘MOST INTERESTING’ QBS IN 2024

"We’re going to be explosive," Williams said, via NBC Sports Chicago. "We’re two rooks, but we’re trying to catch up to the old guys as fast as we can to make sure that we are right there on par with them to be able to be efficient, function, go out there and be explosive, be on the same page and win games. That’s ultimately what we are here to do. Having a guy like that was drafted with me, we’re only going to keep growing and building this connection."

Williams went 6-for-13 for 75 yards with his touchdown run of seven yards on Saturday, while Odunze caught his one pass and took one rush for 16 yards as well.

On Draft Day, Williams was seen bombarding Odunze’s first interview with the media over Zoom, and they’ve been building a connection on and off the field since.

There are many who believe the Bears will see an immediate uptick in production and wins with this Williams era beginning in the Windy City. Odunze is among two Pro Bowl veterans in D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen at receiver, while tight end Cole Kmet and running back D’Andre Swift are also a part of what can be an explosive offense all around.

Odunze, though, has specifically showcased his route-running abilities to go along with his speed and contested catch abilities at practice as he battles against his teammates.

So long as he and Williams continue to work on their craft together as rookies, they can fulfill the high expectations that have been set for both of them.

They’ll have one more preseason game to get that chemistry working full tilt before they face off against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 at home.

Fever-Mercury game erupts into shoving match as WNBA returns from long break

The Indiana Fever expected a tough match up in their first game back after the WNBA returned this week following an extended break for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

And that’s exactly what they got when they stepped on the court to face the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night.

"You knew they were going to come in here with a lot of confidence, with three people that have won gold medals," Caitlin Clark said after the Fever’s 98-89 victory at home.

"You know their confidence is really high, and I thought we came out and really set the tone."

Matching the confidence level was the physicality on the floor.

Two scuffles broke out during the game, including a shoving match that erupted in the third quarter between Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell and Natasha Cloud of the Mercury.

CAITLIN CLARK DAZZLES IN FIRST GAME FROM EXTENDED OLYMPIC BREAK

Mitchell appeared to go down by the three-point line after contact from Cloud, and immediately turned around to shove her opponent. The two briefly got into a back-and-forth before being separated by players and coaches, resulting in double technical fouls.

"You got to get a little gritty and dirty, obviously," Mitchell told reporters of the game’s physicality. "I had a moment myself with T. Cloud and hats off to her for being a competitor, but I think it kind of helped us. The grit and the game and those third quarters and when team’s make runs is how you win a game in the WNBA. You’ve gotta be gritty."

Cloud also spoke about the incident post-game.

"I have nothing but love for her . . . that’s just the competitiveness of the game."

Another minor scuffle between Brittney Griner and Aliyah Boston also unfolded, but no technical fouls were given out.

The Fever play next against the Seattle Storm on Sunday.

Biden says admin is 'closer than we've ever been' to cease-fire deal in Middle East

President Biden claims a cease-fire deal in the Middle East is closer than ever.

Biden made the surprise announcement after signing a proclamation establishing a national monument in memorial of the Springfield 1908 Race Riot — a live event to which he arrived noticeably late.

"One of the reasons I was late for y'all is because I was dealing with the cease-fire effort in the Middle East," Biden told the guests and reporters inside the Oval Office. "And we are closer than we've ever been."

ISRAEL ACCUSES IRAN OF SMUGGLING WEAPONS INTO JORDAN AS REGION BRACES FOR POSSIBLE RETALIATORY STRIKE

"I don't want to jinx anything. But as my grandfather said — by the grace of God and with a lot of luck, we might have something," he continued. "But we're not there yet. We're much, much closer than we were three days ago."

A senior Iranian security official has warned that Iran will attack Israel if its talks with Hamas for a cease-fire in Gaza fall apart, a report says.

HAMAS REFUSES TO ATTEND GAZA CEASE-FIRE TALKS AS BIDEN SAYS IT'S 'STILL POSSIBLE' TO REACH DEAL

The official, speaking to Reuters, said Iran and its allies, including Hezbollah, would also launch a direct attack on the Jewish State if it believes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is dragging out negotiations with the Palestinian terrorist group.

Only Israel and Hamas reaching a cease-fire deal would hold Iran back from a direct strike against Israel in the wake of the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July, three senior Iranian officials told Reuters, but the news agency notes that the sources did not say how long Iran would let the talks progress before deciding to take any action.

Hamas said Sunday that it would not participate in new negotiations for a cease-fire in Gaza this week unless mediators present a plan based on previous talks. Talks are expected to resume on Thursday.

US Olympian A'ja Wilson has explicit 2-word description of teammate after close gold medal win

A’ja Wilson praised Kahleah Copper for her performance in helping Team USA to a one-point victory over France for the gold medal in the women’s basketball event at the Paris Olympics.

Copper finished with 12 points off of the bench, including a strong drive for a 2-point basket late in the game and the last free throws. Wilson added 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, but she was asked to describe Copper in the immediate aftermath of the 67-66 win.

"That b----," Wilson said.

Copper, with ice in her veins, made it a three-point game with 5 seconds left. If she missed one of the free throws, France’s Gabby Williams’ long 2-pointer would have tied it up. If she missed both, then Williams’ shot may have been for the win.

US, CHINA TIE FOR MOST GOLD MEDALS AT PARIS OLYMPICS

Instead, the Americans picked up their 61st consecutive Olympic win and their eighth straight gold medal.

Copper currently plays for the Phoenix Mercury. The gold is the first Olympic medal of her career. She was on the team when they won gold at the 2022 World Cup in Australia.

Copper’s teammate, Diana Taurasi, added to her illustrious career with another gold medal.

Taurasi has six gold medals in her career. She’s been on the team since 2004, when the Americans won in Athens.

'Sweet' Texas family missing, feared dead after boat capsizes off Alaska coast

A Texas family is feared dead after their boat capsized off the coast of Homer, Alaska, over the weekend while they were on a family vacation.

David and Mary Maynard, of Troy, along with their two young sons, remain missing after the 28-foot aluminum boat with a total of eight people aboard capsized Saturday evening approximately 16 miles west of Homer, according to the U.S. Coast Guard District 17 Alaksa.

The USCG suspended its search Sunday after 24 hours passed without any signs of the Maynard family pending the development of further information, a USCG spokesperson said in a press release shared with Fox News Digital.

"The decision to suspend a search is never easy and involves the careful consideration of many factors including environmental conditions and search operations," the spokesperson said in the press release.

The spokesperson adde that Alaska State Troopers and "multiple good Samaritan vessel crews also assisted with search efforts."

Homer Harbormaster Matt Clarke told the Homer News that a Good Samaritan boat called the Salty Sea rescued four others on a life raft that had been on board the capsized boat.

Tom Cruise's rumored 25-year old love interest shuts down dating speculation: 'Literally insane'

Spanish musician Victoria Canal shut down romance rumors after speculation surfaced that she's been dating Tom Cruise.

"guys. i am not dating tom cruise. this is literally insane," she wrote on her Instagram Story. She also posted a photo with her hand over her mouth on Instagram with a lengthy caption.

"guys, this is literally bonkers, but apparently the tabloids think i am dating tom cruise. i’m deceased," she wrote in part. "let’s just stop this in its tracks - i’m sorry to bum u out but i am not dating the man, albeit a lovely person & artist. lol never thought I would have to clarify that out loud in my life."

Cruise, 62, and Canal, 25, first met at a festival in Glastonbury earlier this year with things becoming romantic in the last few weeks, Page Six had reported before Canal took to social media to set the record straight.

ROB LOWE SAYS ‘COMPETITIVE’ TOM CRUISE KNOCKED HIM OUT BOXING: ‘HIS EYES JUST WENT BLACK

After meeting, Cruise reportedly invited Canal to the set of "Mission: Impossible 8" in Oxfordshire, crew members claimed. The "bizarre" move allegedly shocked those close to Cruise.

"Tom invited Victoria to watch him film for the whole day and that is just not something he does for his random friends," a source told the Sun.

"It might have seemed unlikely that they would become anything more than friends, but they are pretty much inseparable," the insider noted.

"They have been seeing a lot of one another and Victoria is beautiful. It’s all been happening in plain sight."

Fox News Digital has reached out to representatives for the actor for comment.

Cruise was spotted in the VIP section of a Coldplay concert in June, the same night Chris Martin brought Canal on-stage.

"Best day of my life," the Spanish singer captioned a series of photos and videos on Instagram.

The two also attended Bruce Springsteen's Wembley Stadium concert and later posed for a photo with the musician.

Cruise attended the "Twisters" premiere with Canal shortly after meeting at the Glastonbury Festival.

"We met backstage at Glastonbury and talked about the upcoming premiere we were both going to and he said, ‘roll with me!'" Canal posted on Instagram.

Canal traveled to the premiere with Cruise in a helicopter, Page Six reported.

The two were also spotted at the Battersea Power Station’s helipad just a week after the "Twisters" premiere, according to the outlet.

In the caption on Canal's Instagram shutting down the dating rumors, she noted, "in all seriousness guys, tom has been nothing but a respectful and encouraging person and mentor, much like chris martin, my dad, my music teachers and other wise people that have learned a lot from living. and again, i am friends with all kinds of people who are very different to me. you learn a lot if you're open to life bringing you those teachers."

Cruise was married to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes. Outside his marriages, the "Jerry Mcguire" star has been linked to a handful of high-profile women, including Melissa Gilbert, Heather Locklear and Penélope Cruz.

Back in February, there were rumors swirling that Cruise and Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, were dating. The two attended London’s Air Ambulance Charity together Feb. 7.

The actor was also linked to Shakira, 47, in May 2023 after the two were photographed walking together at Miami's Formula One Grand Prix race.

The rumor mill quickly began grinding out headlines, but the recently divorced Shakira shut down the story shortly after the photo was taken.
